I loved hearing the impact Pachinko had on you, especially the part about how you always wanted to call your mom when you put the book down. Books should be about connection, and I love that. Thank you for sharing your thoughts
The aesthetic of your outfit and background is so adorable! And I really liked Sadie and Spinning Silver too, especially the latter which is sooooo immersive and incredible. And I really want to check out Pachinko!
I love that everyone is loving Sadie, I read it awhile back this summer and I ADORED it. I don’t give books five stars hardly ever, Sadie was one of those for me.
i just picked up Sadie! i'm definitely going to try listening to the audiobook as well. your love of scribd made me want to check it out and it's the best
Pachinko sounds sooo interesting. I've never heard of it before, but it's definitely going on my tbr now! I love when books really impact you and I love that you wanted to call your mum every time when you read a part of it!
I was actually a little wary of Pachinko just because I very rarely click with generational stories (I always find myself loving one of the characters and wishing the whole book was about them!) but it was so lovely to hear about its meaning for you and I think I'm going to give it a try!
i've been on the fence about sadie for a while since i don't typically read contemporary or thrillers but i just might give this a try, the podcast element sounds so interesting!!
Yesss Pachinko is so so great. And your reviews definitely convinced me to pick up Sadie on audio. I had it on my radar but I didn't know it switched formats like that and sounds like a great way to read the book. Also also, slow moving fantasy is totally my jam so I might need to pick up Spinning Silver now too
Pachinko was amazing, but it shook me like crazy! So many things in the book made sense, with history and even now really. The way it ended though, it just left me an emotional mess haha. I really hope Apple does this book justice.....all the emotions I felt. It reaches into your soul....
Yes, I thought Spinning Silver was so good too! I just adored the three main women discovering and using their strengths to survive and thrive. I love how you compared the turning of silver to gold to their lives. It's so true. I probably liked Spinning Silver just slightly more than Uprooted, but I seriously liked Uprooted as well.
I recently listened to the audiobook for Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D Jackson and I thought it was amazing, there's nothing really extra about it but the story is told from the perspective of a girl from the ages of 14-16 and the narrator is that age which helped really visualise the character and then the vernacular was really particular at points and it was just so easy to put it all together which I don't think I would have been able to as fluidly if I had read it myself!
Pachinko sounds so beautiful. Have you ever watched the korean drama bridal mask? It takes place during the time of the Japanese colonists too if you want more media in that time period :)
I’ve heard so many good things about Spinning Silver and Sadie, I definitely want to check them out. I’m really hoping I enjoy Spinning Silver because I didn’t really like Uprooted by the same author. Fingers crossed! Great video Monica! 😊
thanks so much for watching! 💕 you can check out sadie by courtney summers on scribd here: bit.ly/2QD1y2o

shemightbemonica I’ve just seen a lot of talk on twitter recently (and it happened to myself) and they cut off after like 2 books now.
odd! i’d contact support for that. i use it along with family members and friends and haven’t had that issue before.
The Poet X
