Coming back to this to see if it's been solved. Relative to other lost songs this one should be easier to solve. "Winds Of Change" almost certainly takes its cue from the expression popularized by The Scorpions after January 1991, when the band released their hit by the same name, to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. The expression became popular even among non-metal audiences and the general population. This also agrees with the timing of the "Madchester" sound which began in October 1988 with "Elephant Stone," peaked in 1989-1991 and continued until late 1994. By 1995 it had morphed into Brit Pop. You could still find "Madchester" releases in 1995 but they were in steady decline. Imo the sound combined with the reference to "Winds of Change" places the song around 1991-1992.

    • @lostwavefinder587

I definitely think the title is 'Winds of Change', due in part by the wind sound effects at the beginning as well as the imagery of 'autumn', leaves and snow and the change of the seasons. I cannot believe this one has not been solved yet.
Edit: after making this comment I noticed at the beginning before the verse starts there are whispers of "listen, listen, listen, listen, listen" so that might be the title???

I have this album....this is the opening track and its Wavestation by Wavestation recorded in 90 released very limited in 91 very limited cd release....1. Wavestation 2. Let it all go 3. Edge of night 4.Fall Away 5. I Know 6. Another Fish 7. Rain 8. Waters edge cafe. There was a second album called Mona Lisa released in 94 and also an album called "Audio Virus" that remains unreleased. A few years later the Brothers Rob Drew (r.i.p.) guitars etc. and Buzz Drew vocals etc. had a 90's metal project FA-Q and released the album EACH HIT then nothing that I know of. Before Wavestation they had a metal band called Witchfawn.......they are originally from Canada and migrated to Seattle in the early to mid 90's where they recorded (Wavestation) Mona Lisa and (FA-Q) EACH HIT. There are 8 tracks on that cd and a bonus unlisted track called "Beer Patrol" by Witchfawn.

Definitely born out of the early 90s "Madchester" scene, even if not geographically from the English northwest. Instantly recognizable sound to anyone who was into the scene at the time.

So I found this band on Discogs called Wavestation. They have one album, and on it is a song also titled Wavestation. I was thinking this could possibly be our song. The band is a 90s rock band from Canada, the only problem is their only album was released in 1994. I messaged the two sellers so we will wait and see.
I also had another thought that it could be Battle Bratt-Winds Of Change (1985). They released an album in 1989 which has a song on it called Winds Of Change. While it is not our song, it sounded remarkably similar. I found that they have an earlier release in 1985 which also has that song on it. It was mentioned in their bio that they changed singers in 1984, so it could be that they recorded a version with him for the 1985 release.

As a Metal head myself I love to listen to underground bands and this one sounds like it was around the 87-90’s. The reason why I think this is because of the wind sound effect in the beginning “the wind” this was common for underground and mainstream songs to do since it set up an ambience. One band that nobody knows about is Battle Brat they did this. Check this out: th-cam.com/video/ecgc6SCJz1I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=M8u_yqqvbNiEw7p8 also

@@lostwavefinder587 My thoughts on the genre not fitting are mixed, since bands like Filter, The Doors, The Who and numerous others have made non-genre fitting songs. (Pinball Wizard, The Soft Parade, Take a Picture all are well recognizably the same band, but not the genre).
According to progarchives, (which used the original website for Conspiracy, now defunct, for their description), Conspiracy was a Crossover Prog band from the UK. Did I mention that it was founded by Chris Squire, the bassist for influential prog rock band Yes, as well as Billy Sherwood, who was also a prog artist?
As well as this, on the discography for self-titled "Conspiracy' (which although was released in 2000, still relavant) by Squire was recorded/ mixed in a place titled "The Office / The Bunker / The Living Room, which upon a google search, shows a few candidates for where it might've been recorded. It could've also been Squire's personal studio, quote Discogs
"Studio that was located in Virginia Water, Surrey, UK. Also called New Pipers Studio”
Another studio Squire knew of was under Genesis' Steve Hackett's place - "Steve also has a studio in Twickenham, so we recorded my bass parts there” quote Squire himself. Squire and Hackett formed a duo called Squackett at one point, which could further stipulate this.
It was likely mastered at Oceanview Digital Mastering in LA, as with many other Yes albums, by Joe Gastwist, who worked there at the time and is credited on the Conspiracy credits.

Sorry but it’s not ringing a bell.
I Worked on Conspiracy a long time ago and my memory is not that great.
      Good luck & best regards,

@@clint5740 if he doesn't recognize it then it's most likely not from Conspiracy. The circumstances also make it pretty unlikely given this song was recorded on Canadian radio and the band was from USA and there have been very few cases of *obscure* foreign songs being played on different countries radio stations before like the 2000's
