    I think technology works best in magic when its hidden. The spectators will just think there is some tech involved, its not really magical

    • @veganbadass
      @veganbadass 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The thing is, you can ask them to name any card on the spot right there in front of them in a few seconds. They can watch you type on your phone and they can see that you are not typing a card name. Also, let's say you have a friend that loves Harry Potter, you can ask them to name a character from the books and within 5 seconds dozens of servers on their phone have that name. This is customizable. I love it.

      All about your presentation. You can make even the hunted key magical with a great presentation.

      a thumb tip is hidden technology, but marked cards are very visible - it's all about how YOU present it. Lots of magicians use visible technology and entertain their spectators. (okito box, bill tube, scotch and soda, svengali pad)

    Just a point to add. I am a certified Cisco Enterprise Wifi engineer and i encountered problems with the reveal showing up on Android phones in Wifi saturated environments. The device appears to transmit at 2.4Ghz on channel 1 which is the most common frequency put out by most routers. Android phones are more sensitive to wifi saturation than iphones. When performed in a wifi dead zone (parking garage) there was no issues. The French Twins are putting out a new update today so hopefully there is some improvement in this area.

    great review as usual David. flashing a bios is always scary, remember old days when you could ruin a board if did it wrong. as for the network thing, with some digging in the settings you can adjust your device to use both wifi and cellular data, in iOS it’s wifi-assist and in android i believe it’s dual acceleration or something along those lines. anyway, curios to see it in my hands eventually despite the little high price!

      this is really just a little exe file and then you navigate to their update file and update it

    • @KevinGoosie
      @KevinGoosie 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@magicorthodoxy They've actually updated the instructions and no longer require the exe. They are using a website that takes advantage of the WebSerial protocol via the browser. However, using the supplied USB cable can be crucial, as I had this issue. I will be seeing what the difference is in what cable I was trying to use versus what was supplied.

    • @ferdirosa7547
      @ferdirosa7547 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KevinGoosie I had the same issue, I tried to do the update with a standard USB on one side and a micro USB on the other side. Did not work, I had to buy a new cable that was USB-C on one side and USB micro on the other side. I tossed the original cable, didn't see it in the box...

    Seems very expensive for what it is. A reveal using the hotspot on your phone would work just as well. You still have to force a card.

    • @magicorthodoxy

      yes, but this "changes" all the networks in the area to the same reveal and they can see it on THIER PHONE

  • @marcelschmidt3698
    @marcelschmidt3698 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Im someone coming from the tech field, so I am naturally very biased when it comes to effects like this. I think it would fool lay people (def. not people in the tech field, but that's a different story!) - but I really, really don't like the price. I get that you are not only paying for the gimmick but also for the idea / presentation / teaching material, but it's so beyond the material costs that I don't want to support Hacker by Les French Twins. Especially given the fact that there are pretty much ready-made devices which do the exactly same thing, so in a sense you are only paying $200 for the tutorials. (minus the gadet price, which is ~ $20).

  • @robm6252
    @robm6252 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It doesn’t matter as to the specifics of the methodology involved. Unless you’ve been living in a cave for the last 25 years, the default setting response from every spectator is: “What technological technique do you know about that I don’t or want piece of tech do you have in your possession.” When the centerpiece of your magic prop is a piece of technology itself and the effect is also technological in nature, you render your own skills as a “magician” obsolete.

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Magic isn't about tricking people or fooling them, it's about entertaining them. If your spectator is trying to figure our your tech, then it's because the magician did something to tip them off - most magicians use tech, stripper decks, okito boxes, bill tubes, marked cards and they legitimately entertain. Be careful saying that those magicians dont have skill or that they are obsolete because they use a gimmick

    • @robm6252
      @robm6252 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@magicorthodoxy There is NO entertainment without moments of awe. There is no moment of awe without providing them with something beyond their reasoning or understanding. Hence: Magic TRICK. There is no logical disconnect here. There’s only one place a spectators mind can go. ONE. And that is: This was accomplishment by a piece of technology that I’m not aware of don’t have access to myself.
