Where's the umbrage? Menhaden are a woven-in part of the tapestry of sea life which sustains _all_ life here on Earth.

    Omega is a BAD neighbor.
Tell me why They CUT 50 jobs from Reedville then applied for and got 46 H2B visas for foreign workers who got paid 40% less than the US workers they replaced.
They included 17 fishermen to “fish for menhaden fish on purse boats,” and 29 laborers to “perform manual labor in fish processing plant yard.”
During 2006-2007, when the foreign workers were laboring at Omega Protein’s Reedville plant, joblessness in Reedville and the surrounding counties was at 4.2 percent - 1.2 percent higher than the Virginia state average.
Those menhaden are food for the blues, the blues are not back because there is no food for them here anymore. Also its what the fleet DOES NOT catch. They toss THOUSANDS of pounds of by catch off the boats that is never counted at all by anyone. Everything from flounder, striper, blues, croaker ect.
Omega trashes the bay and you know it.

They spend 15 million on immigration fees, paying foreigners half of what we would make, but we won't work under those conditions. 350 employees, 3 deaths a year average. The national average is 1 to 28000. Coincidence?? I don't think so.

Your daddy is lying to you. There is huge damage caused by these boats. Menhaden is a crucial link in the food chain not to mention the bycatch from these boats. You used to be able to follow the trail of dead fish to these boats. We fought for over a decade for a moratorium to be put on these boats

These companies have often take too many fish, wiping out millions of fish and all schools in the area, leaving other fish with nothing to eat and wiping out menhaden in some areas

That industry put food on my table as a child and kept the lights on and clothes on my back. I've experience the struggles first hand when they restricted fish from 3 miles then 6 miles until they completely killed the industry off in Beaufort nc. Watched my father take every little.job he could get because of asswhole who have no idea what they're talking about. People are scared of what they don't understand and if they knew how hard the guys worked for that dime they wouldn't be treating they're bread on the table.

They are killing the entire east coast fishing industry and affecting the populations of many species up and down the coast, menhaden are the key to all sea life on this coast

Did you hear they ground up a fine young man from the coast named Christopher Hebert to the waste in the fish grinder then called his mom and brothers to come get him, because he was quoted in saying 'the place is not fit to work in.' THAT MADE AND IMPRESSION ON THE REST OF THE WORKERS, DO NOT MESS WITH OMEGA!! The whole case is online, Hebert vs Omega Protein. So Omega, Malcolm Glazer Family Mafia bought off the judge in Gulfport and he threw out the key piece of evidence, "the new watch partner went to the tool room and cut off the lock that secured the grinder" then the night watch FORMAN Wayne Gray turned on the fish grinder full knowing Christopher HEBERT was in there following Wayne Gray's Orders. It was murder!!

You have no idea what you are talking about. Fishing every where has been effected by these boats. You are an I, me, my person. Only caring about the food on your table but not the millions of others that can't catch the fish to feed their family due to these boats. Menhaden/bunker are part of the tapestry of sea life which sustains all life here on Earth. You effect just one link in the chain and everything is effected. I've watched these boats for decades and then started filming them. It took over a decade of trying to get people to care. I and many others like me are responsible for the restrictions and the fish thank me. The trail of destruction left behind these boats was appalling, thousands of dead fish from one boat everyday.
