Brian May is SOOOOOO GOOD, vocally, musically, composition....I don't think his talent was as recognized at the forefront as it should have been from the Queen days. ALL the members were made big, heavy contributions....I'm realizing though w/out Brian May QUEEN would not have taken off like it did.
True, without Brian May's guitar Queen would've been a good band because of Freddie Mercury's voice but they would have lost the power Brian brought to the music.
I agree, Freddie was the voice of Queen and master at controlling the audience and probably didn't get enough credit for his piano, but Brian May's guitar was the sound of Queen! I think the time since Freddie passed has shown that both of them were necessary. Also, without Roger and Brian you would not have had the harmonies that Queen was known for.
Without Brian's sound , without Mercury voice and majestic piano skills , without the quiet John Deacon and brain to write massive hits and without Roger Taylor's unique drum sound and voice Queen can't be Queen ... the 4 of them made the magic happen and yes part of Queen sound is from brian may all of them are unique and can't be replaced thats why without freddie is Queen+ even without Brian it would be Queen+ because the 4 of them together are Queen .

Brian May has ALWAYS been recognised as a rock god.
highly revered always by his peers as well as his fans.
Listening to this the night before Brian re-releases this album 30 years after it first came out.

"We'll be back to the light, cos there'll be no place to hide" damn, who wrote that, was down there. And came back. Late 80s, early 90s we lost a Queen member, but we got another one back.
The one that stands out may not be the truest talent in the band.
Freddie had his moment at live aid and could never repeat that. A true showman who hit his peak at that time...
@@davefrance3721 bullshit. Only a year after Live Aid, Freddie stopped touring. Then this stop became permanent because of his illness.
Brian May had 30 more years to keep "hitting peaks", whilst Freddie had none.

If "Back to the light" would be a Queen Album, it would be one of the best Queen Albums ever.
I bought it instantly when it came out and fell in love from the start. It was like witnessing him crawl out of the hole that he was in after Freddie died and then soaring up into the sky like a bird. Just a marvellous album.

I saw this tour at the Vic Theatre in Chicago. One of the loudest shows I had been to. Cozy Powell’s drums were so loud they hurt my ears. This song would’ve a great Queen song.

Oh... I so wish I could have been there! This just goes to show that Brians guitarr playing hugely contributed to the "Queen sound". I was at the Queen concert in Stockholm in the early and mid 80s. That was also magical!!!
@The Shields Biggest Fan QueenIsstadion in Stockholm was the first Queen concert I watched, and that was indoors. It was such a revelation to hear the songs from A night at the opera LP live! The second concert was at Rasunda in 1986(?) I think. Rain showers made the grass muddy and slippery, but the songs and the music... The stadion was packed, and all sang along! I got some great photos with my camera!

In 1986 Freddie Mercury recorded song 'Creatures of the night' aka 'Music of the night' ( alternate song title ' Back to the night)'!!(during A kind of Magic recording session ) .The Darkness/ Dark ' intro track was recorded by Brian May in 1979 (during the Game recording session) .I heard that Freddie listended music background from song' Just one life' in recording studio ( 1989/90?) and he watched music notes on papier

They are not a tribute act. That's very disrespectful. Brian and Roger are Queen and will always be Queen, a tribute Act doesn't have original members does it?
@@lorrainecimino8508 In my eyes Queen was Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Rodger Taylor and John Deacon. Sadly Freddie is no longer with us and John has retired. Two original members does not mean it’s still Queen.
You wouldn’t call Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr with a bunch of hired guns backing them up The Beatles. In my opinion Queen are as important a band as The Beatles so I feel it’s the same situation with them.
I love Brian May’s guitar playing (and Rodger Taylor’s drumming for that matter) but I feel he has denied the world lots of new material in favour of churning out second rate versions of Queen classics all these years. I’m sorry if you think I’m being disrespectful but that’s just my opinion. Adam Lambert is not Freddie Mercury and never will be.
