Very cool facts. They are magnificent. Mainstream society has lost touch with wild life so much. Can you talk about Octopuses?

“Sea Turtles” refers to seven different species of turtle. The Flatback is the only one not listed as endangered by the IUCN due to insufficient data. They were listed as endangered by Australia, however, in 2000. (The majority of known Flatbacks are in and around Northern Australia) It is the most recently classified as protected, namely due to it’s relatively more recent discovery as an individual species in 1988.
The Leatherback and Kemp’s Ridley were classified as endangered in 1970. The Loggerhead was classified in 1973. The Olive Ridley was classified in 1978. The Green and Hawksbill were classified in 1982.
All are still very much under threat due to human activity and climate change but many populations have made significant recovery (one particular beach has doubled in nesting sites) due to conservation efforts.
Spread awareness. Not misinformation. No Sea Turtle has “now” been listed as endangered. Most have been listed for 40-50 years.
The video this is clipped from was made by the World Wildlife Fund and mainly shows captive turtles which look to be mostly Loggerhead. Possibly from the Shark Wreck Reef exhibit in the Bournemouth Oceanarium.

Bicatch is bad, but we should also value the lives of the fish and not eat fish or buy products with fish ingredients.
