  • Completed my in house oil change after the break in period. Glad I am out of it and can stretch the legs of the little 300R :). Enjoying the riding as well as the improved smoothness in shifting after the oil change.
There is a major war regards to what oil to use, just go with what you can afford and stick to manufacture or close recommended specs and you should be fine. I am not paid by Mobil on this video, just think the Mobil1 is a fine oil based on my daily riding routine so far.

Great videos on the CBR 300. I have one also that I purchased new in Nov 2015 .ABS tri-colour, I changed my front sprocket form the stock (14 teeth) to + 1 (15 teeth) and it made 1 st gear much more usable and it also brought the highway RPM's down about 500 RPM's at 60 mph. If I cruise around at 55 MPH om paved back roads my fuel mileage is really really amazing as long as I ride it like an old old man...100 MPG (US gallons)

@ Laurie Bass .. Did you not have to recalibrate your speedometer or deal with a new fuel management system replacement or tweak any other settings? Also how difficult is it to change out the Front sprocket? I've considered this but haven't bought my bike yet. Still saving up. Thanks

@@motoryzen changing the front sprocket is very simple as long as you got the right tool
I once take off the sprocket and change the new 15 tooth sprocket, than I realized I ordered the wrong part, it does not fit my cbr300r(the one I ordered was for ninja 300)

Seeing that First gear is "Useless" as you described (and I agree) would you recommend starting off in second gear in traffic situations?

I would not recommend that unless you are past your break in period. I did wring it out nicely in the first gear when I did my break in. once past it choose your best method to get more power from the start

What does your .300R Idle at? I have a new 300R and it idles at 400 rpm. I'm still in the break in period and have issues doing low speed manuvers (figure eights ect.)

thanks for your videos I'm debating between the ninja 300 and the cbr 300. I can get a 2016 new leftover 4100 otd or a 2016 ninja 300 otd 4800 what do you think I have a 30 mile one way on the highway 70 to 75 mph

Hey my original choice was a Ninja 300. A couple of things put me off with respect to Ninja. One was the dealers, the kawasaki dealers were horrendous to deal with. the other is the service schedule including valve checks every 7500 miles. Between the two there is not much of a difference on short stints on highway. If you are doing longer trips the Ninja might be better since its heavier and more stable. I do a 30 mile roundtrips on my Honda at speeds of 75-80 with no issues. Top speed is close to 100mph on the Honda, and 110 or so on the ninja so there is enough headroom on both the motorcycles for the speeds you want to go. At the end of the day you are not going to be speed demon on both of these. Both are great choices, you could save money on the Honda and use the leftover for riding gear, exhaust, tires and other upgrades. Best of luck

Before I bought my CBR 300 R I was looking at the Yamaha R3. My 300 R cost me over $1000 less (Canadian dollars) out the door ..total....than the R3 and my 300 R has ABS..the R 3 did not. Given I get such great gas millage....that extra money saved will purchase alot of fuel or accessories.
