But what are the recommendations for the MacBook? I have an M1 Pro with 16GB Memory, and it's runs at 100% CPU usage often when using Power BI (Parallels is allowed to use 12 of the 16GB). Which is more than the official "minimal requirements" of 4GB RAM stated on the MS website ...
you can just change the settings in Parallels to make the windows takes less resources. click on the settings button for windows at Parallels control center then click on hardware then CPU & Memory you can make it Auto or manual and specify the requirements you want the machine use
Not being able to run Power BI on a Mac without all of this is incredibly annoying. Nearly every other MS Office product is available on Mac, not sure why Power BI is not. I'm sure Microsoft has their reasons. I thought I read somewhere that they have no intention of rolling it out to Macs.
Ok I am usually pretty smart about computers, but you totally lost me on the AWS setup. I did everything and completed the Key setup and then you said launch an instance, well having no clue really what an instance is I followed you but then you jumped out and said you will setup up windows using there EC2 services. I guess I need to go read AWS and learn to use it prior to whatever you said because you really confused me. I think you should have walked us through the rest of the process because I now have AWS services and no clue how to finish the process to get BI. I have used Parrell in the past, but it just slows my machine down. I also have a Windows computer, but I prefer the 7 MACs I have in my studio I guess I will just keep working on the windows computer when it comes to Power BI.
Yeah, that was some serious hand waving on what instance that is needed to be spun up. I've set up a Windows environment on GCP before (exactly for Power BI), so I generally know how to do that. But anyone without that general experience could be lost.
