Hi Stitchers, just a little note to say thank you for your kind comments on this video, you’ve buoyed a girl up this evening after a long old day! I’m very blessed to have such lovely customers in my corner, thank you xxx
Great vlog Jennie. Running your own business takes guts which you clearly have in abundance. You deserve all the support you can get and I am sure it will all be worth it.
Hello Jenny, thank you for sharing your thoughts and process of running your own fabric shop/business. It looks to be hard work with a lot of enjoyment thrown in! Loving all your sewing plans, I hope you are able to find time to make them. Stay strong 💪 think positive thoughts and you will overcome any challenges. The shop looks a great space to sew. The fabrics are wonderfully displayed. Thanks again for making this vlog. I wish you well in all that you do! Happy sewing 🧵
I think my favorite location is when you have a little of the window showing outside, it must be since I am in US and make extra special to be able to watch another Country with one of my favorite things to do: sewing :). Jenny you will never make everyone happy, it is so many people with different taste, don't get stressed trying to make everyone happy, we love your videos and I am every week making a list of what I wish to buy from your store (Sadly send things oversea are so expensive). Thank you for share all that you share with us.
Ah thank you so much for your kind words! The view from the window will change quite a bit soon as some buildings are going to be demolished, that should be fun 😊 maybe one day I’ll find an affordable way to ship to the US xxx
Oh Jennie how I wish we lived closer.. I hear you!!! It’s so tough at times but like you say, your customers keep you going.. we can do this! You’re doing amazingly, hope to see you again for a cuppa or a glass of wine xxxx
You might remember I came to your shop with my husband and you helped me gather all the fabrics etc for the Range Backpack by Noodlehead. I'm taking my time with it and it looks really good. So thankful you spent the time with me, I'd never have coped by myself. As always I wish you success in everything you endeavour to do x
Oh yes I remember it well Lynn! Glad to hear you’re enjoying your project - can’t wait to see the finished result! Thank you for your kind feedback 😘 xxx
You’re doing amazing, Jenny. Well done on all our hard work in setting up the shop. You are a total inspiration and have achieved so much. You can do this! 💪❤️ i could totally relate to your marathon analogy 😅🤣 I really enjoyed visiting the shop in the summer and I’m looking forward to seeing you the K&S show. I hope you get time to sew. Sending you lots of positive vibes! X
Thank you so much Nadia 💜 haha I know you get it, mile 21 at Chester where things get rather hilly 🤣 look forward to seeing you at Chester, ps, downloaded that app and think I’m a cool winter ❄️ 😊 xxx
another lovely vlog, You are one amazing woman, I find you incredibly inspiring, the way you have carried yourself during many downs in your life, you just get up and go and smash it. I hope you get to do some sewing for yourself too 🥰
Ohhh thank you that’s so kind! 🥲 I like to think we always have a choice on how to respond to things, it’s not easy but there’s always a choice at forwards xxx
An idea for t-shirt top is the sew over it Audrey top I love this top made about 5 now everyone always comments on it. it's the lovely neck tie. Great video as usual x
I think you are amazing and so inspirational. I really appreciate your honesty about the challenges of running your own business. Its so much more authentic than just talking about the highlights.
Great vlog Jenny. Love the simplicity dress. I definitely think you should make one on tartan. It might be a great Christmas version too. Then you can wear that lovely baby cord dress ❤
Hang in there! I wish you all the best for a successful business. Regarding your daughter's hoodie, perhaps you can find a solid French terry for the sleeves and do a color-blocked version.
Hope you can find some time to relax and do some sewing soon, Jenny. I think that Tartan would make a lovely pinafore dress. Good luck with all your plans!
Thought I'd mention that you deciding to do the Harrogate K&S made me decide to definitely book a ticket. I'm going with a couple of friends and we can't wait to come and visit your stall, we'll definitely be purchasing on the day. 😁😁
Lovely vlog Jenny. That Simplicity dress would be stunning in the tartan. Itch to Stitch Islares top might be a good one for your knitted top. Keep on doing what you’re doing and be brave! X
Lovely vlog. As you already know running your own business can be hard at times but you have persevered so far and I’m sure with a bit more patience and fortitude you will continue to make a success of things and it will get easier eventually. I’m sure I speak for many of your customers and viewers when I say I’m very grateful that you are running this business and tempting us with so many lovely fabrics and also that I am in awe of how well you’ve grown the business in the few years since you started. Especially through the pandemic! Well done and keep going 👏. I would think about making a jumper dress with pockets with the black tartan watch. A darted bodice so the pattern matching for the top isn’t too much torture, side seam pockets and either an a-line or box pleated skirt depending on your mood. Just right to wear over t-shirts and jersey tops in autumn and winter 😊. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
I love your choices for the Buckthorn backpack. I have the pattern in my stash so I’m looking forward to seeing your version as I can’t decide what direction to go in. Too many choices 😊 For top patterns, I can highly recommend the Sibiu top from Itch to Stitch ❤
Looking forward to seeing you at the Harrogate show. The tartan would look nice in the new Maison Fauve Soliflore dress, the Itch to stitch Recoleta dress or the Peony Dress x
Lovely catch up and waffle ❤, good to hear your plans for the shop and your sewing projects. And seeing fabrics too! Have you looked at the Bridget tee by pattern scout, fitted with square neckline and long or short sleeves. Have one cut out, interesting way with pattern pieces, my next sew together.
I value your vlogs so much and can’t wait to visit your shop one day (hopefully moving to Cumbria in the next few months) but will be seeing you at the K&S show! I’ve made the Buckthorn - such a fun project I am sure you will enjoy x
Owning and running a business can sometimes make you wonder if it's running you! At least that's how I felt when we had ours. Your shop is lovely from what I can see and I so wish I could visit. Just get through one day at a time. P S. I would be happy to add to your cash flow if you ever decide to ship to the U. S.😉
Lovely catch up & you’re so inspiring! You’ll get there 💜 Have you seen the Lenne top by Lore Piar? I think that meets your criteria for aim interesting jersey top! X
Bit late to this video but regarding a nice jersey top pattern, I love the Friday Pattern Company Grace top. It's easy to sew and just a bit different.
Hi Jenny, probably all sorts of potential difficulties that I perhaps haven't thought of, but if I lived close to your shop, I would be happy to volunteer my help in return for a credit to spend in Jenny Stitches when you are in a more stable financial position - maybe there are others who would be happy to do this too? Loving seeing your vision develop and come true xxx
Perhaps with the tartan make a long pencil skirt with deep slits on side wear with thick tights and flat boots you said you wanted more separates love the vlog thank you
Have you checked out Pattern Emporium or Ellie & Mac tee shirt patterns? They both have quite a variety of next level up tee shirts with just that little bit of extra something.
Your waffling is just right. It's like having a friend chatting away. The things you talk about are relatable and insightful. Yes, you "should" make more shirt dresses, because you did a great job on that one in the window, and I'll bet you look fabulous in it. But I think that plaid would look wonderful as a skirt, maybe even cut on the bias, or as a pinafore dress. The materials you've selected for the bag are incredibly gorgeous!! For some jersey top ideas, Simplicity S9451 has interesting ruching details. It did run large when I made it. Butterick B6517 (I think it's still in print. It's from 2017.) This top has several beautiful details.

Love the tartan. I made a shirt in the strange animals last week but it's still waiting for me to sew the buttons on 😂.

They’re really great suggestions thank you! I’m rather taken with the Peony. Love maison fauve designs, I’m considering stocking their patterns xxx

You could do the night before Christmas window with some nice pjs and a Christmas stocking
You know that’s just what I did for my very first Christmas window, I won a prize for it 😅 xx
Well done

It’s a contender Linda! Trousers in it have crossed my mind too! Maybe I’ll just make a few things in the same fabric 😂 xxx
Just made ripple dress in black watch ☺️
Ooh I bet that’s pretty! Perfect for the season xxx
Have you checked out Pattern Emporium or Ellie & Mac tee shirt patterns? They both have quite a variety of next level up tee shirts with just that little bit of extra something.
P.S. Did you see the new Erica pattern from Viki Sews? I don't normally like asymmetrical styles, but this one is in my cart.
Hi Jennie have you looked at the Maxine Sweater by Dhurata Davies. X
That’s an unusual design Janet! Thanks for the recommendation xxx
What about the Armindale dress ?it’s a bit shirty but different 🤞🥰
Is that a style arc one? Xxx
