This is one of the Best ,straight to the point , and well presented video's i have seen in a long time!! nice one mate! (p.s) i hope the reverbs are as silky smooth as the lexicon in my soundcraft mixer eft 8
Hello @LinkAudio... i am inquiring if it is possible for the Multitrack feature to work in other DAWs as well? I am interested in purchasing a Studiolive AR12 and just wondering if it multitracks in other DAWs outside of Capture. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year
Brother I'm used to Allen and heath desks but the one I have only has windows drivers and the latency is terrible. I like Allen and heath for their preamps.. how do you rate the preamps in these desks?
Hello @LinkAudio... i will be receiving the Presonus Studiolive AR12 Mixer tomorrow, I've seen various other details on this series of mixers but am not sure if it can be used as an audio interface for other DAWs as well as multitrack record for other DAWs. Could you please provide some imput for me? Thanks in advance
You state that the SD records in stereo at: 2:49 - does this mean it records 2 discrete tracks as stereo implies and therefore plays that file back as a stereo file in a format like WAV?
The recorded file is a standard .wav file with a stereo image. It is not proprietary. It is not normal to have 2 x mono files, as they wouldn't contain the panning information. 2 x mono is not stereo. If you wish to record each channel as an individual file, then the USB recording capability records every track as a separate .wav file (as shown in the video).
Can the stereo inputs be recorded as separate mono tracks to either SD card and DAW? For instance, I want to record two mics as 2 separate mono tracks in channel 5/6.
In my case I have AR-16 and I’m having a trouble, I tried to use the Capture program and I can see is recording but when I put it in play, I don’t hear anything, nothing happen, I don’t know if I must press any bottom or something...
You can record straight into any DAW (including Ableton). However the simplest way (as shown in the video) is to record using the bundled Capture software, as that automatically arms every track to record and then records with a single click. After recording is finished, you can import the multitrack stems (individual wave file for every track ) into any DAW software for later editing / mixing.
When using the multitrack option. Is it possible to record all channels while you not hearing everything on the speakers? When we have a small gig I do not want to amplify the drums but I still want to record all the instruments.
Recording is taken from post gain and pre fader. Meaning what gets recorded is the level coming into the gain stage but before fader control. The faders don’t have to be up going to the normal main out mix bus to get recorded. J
@link audio ... is that capture program for all three of those machines, and also was that program (on laptop) working in real time in coordination with the mixer. i have a similar machine (korg d888) and wish i had a similar program to work that way. see it records everything similar, but i have to stop the machine, save everything. turn it off essentialy, put it in usb mode to hook it up and then do studio work after that tedious process
Hey @Lenphish the Capture software is for all three models, It is called Capture and you also get Studio One Artist and Universal Control Driver. So yes, this makes it easier than what you are currently using!
cool, ive had the korg 10 yrs and its showing its age with malfunctions and im thinking of getting back in the game with local buffalo ny jam bands and, to bust something out that quick to give to a band after a show would be sweet. this video blew over my head a little, its a decade of technology passed my knowledge level, but its so similar yet advanced, id get the hang of it quick
It really is just using the few features of digital technology to make things easier. If you can work out how to post a comment on TH-cam, I think you will be fine working out the simple controls for this mixer. You can get advanced if you desire, but to get things going, its really easy, straight out of the box!
@LinkAudio - hello! Does or can the transit on the front of the unit control the transit within the computer DAW, or must i use the mouse to trigger 'record'? Thank you! Rs
iPhone guys, does anyone knows how to capture audio via Presonus StudioLive AR12 bluetooth to the iphone´s Dictaphone app ou Camera app? i know it´s possible to capture audio to the Dictaphone from the mic built in my bluetooth JBL headphones (by the way, the sound is terrible). I was wondering if the "audio in" of the Camera app and the Dictaphone app could be the Presonus StudioLive via bluetooth. That would be great!
I just got the AR12 and I needed this video. Thanks. Very knowledgeable you are sir.
Excellent presentation Chris... no BS and get to the point :-) Other companies could learn from this presentation!!

Thanks, our boys Chris is a great communicator! Glad you liked it..

Monitor/aux send questions: when you mute the channel, does it also mute the monitor/ aux sends? Are the fx return aux sends pre or post-fader?
Great review! I'm sold on the largest of the three. Thank-you.
Good video, you recommend getting audio through XLR OR TRS to the monitors from the same console (I HAVE THE STUDIOLIVE AR12) or from an interface
Man, I want to hear these boards in action.
Brother I'm used to Allen and heath desks but the one I have only has windows drivers and the latency is terrible. I like Allen and heath for their preamps.. how do you rate the preamps in these desks?
Can they be used as a control surface in your DAW
no

So you have had the mixer for a year now, what do you think?
You state that the SD records in stereo at: 2:49 - does this mean it records 2 discrete tracks as stereo implies and therefore plays that file back as a stereo file in a format like WAV?
Yes
Thank you for your response. What I've been reading is that the file is a proprietary file that you can not separate the left nor right channels.
The recorded file is a standard .wav file with a stereo image. It is not proprietary. Does any of the mixers record internal effects for individual tracks in multitrack?

Can i use this with logic x?
In my case I have AR-16 and I’m having a trouble, I tried to use the Capture program and I can see is recording but when I put it in play, I don’t hear anything, nothing happen, I don’t know if I must press any bottom or something...
Can you control thru a iPad or iPhone while using the app ????
will this product multitrack to any DAW (Specifically ableton) or does it only work with the bundled software?

How do you route a presonus studiolive ar 16 to a patchbay in order to use out board effects and pretty amps
Great presentation.

There is no DAW control in this range of mixers so you will need to use your mouse.
Why your Volume are so high ???
I’m sold
How do you connect to pro tools 12?
is the ar12 compatible with pro tools 12?
Can the USB multitracking go straight into cubase?
It works in any DAW. Look at this mixer as an audio interface.
Ed Parker could you get it to work with cubase? I couldn't find any reviews on the internet about using it as an interface.
Thanks

minus point is that this mixer has no automatic faders & no compressor
The best mixer presonus ever made is the studio live 16-24-or 32 channels they are still around of course people can disagree
Very nice product
Can the usb 2.0 go in a usb 3.0 port as well?
Hi, you can certainly plug the AR mixers into your USB 3 port, however, you will only get USB 2 speed
Link Audio thank you. God bless!
Does it work with protools 10? Or with other daw?
It works in any DAW. Look at this mixer as an audio interface.
Is the multi-track recorder pre or post fader?
I'm pretty sure they are pre for individual channels and post fader for the master. I can be corrected.
Nice!
it daw controller?
No motorized faders
