I watched your video the night before I picked up my 2021 Ultra Limited Vivid Black (Black Finish) last Saturday. I am 6 feet tall and felt cramped on my demo test ride. The bike didn't make it out of the showroom before having the Mustang Super Touring seat/backrest added. What a difference, easily moved me back two inches. I thought I was going to order the mini apes you suggested. But so far thanks to the new seat, my arm position with the stock bars has been comfortably stretched out. If it was easy I would swap the bars out just to see the difference. Ordering the mirrors now. So far Ciro filler lights, Lamicall phone holder, Kemimoto saddle bag and tour pack lid organizers, stub antenna. LOVE THIS BIKE! Thanks for the video!
For an awesome windshield, I highly recommend Freedom Shields. I am about 6’2 and the 9” is perfect for me… I can see over it but the wind still goes above my head. John was great to work with.
They make good shields. I actually went to a freedom shield on my 2024 Road Glide that I just got. I think if you find one that really fits you well there’s a bunch of good ones out there. Ride safe.
I have a 2003 ultra classic with the original factory mirrors. I added the same mirrors as you now I have 4 mirrors. Gives me an excellent perspective plus a wide angle view.I have to review my seat I bought our motorcycle used and the previous owner was a very big person. Well I have to agree with you. I have a 2010 Ultra for 2 years now and the first 3 things I did was the 10 in Yaffee bars, HD Low rider seat and those mirrors. I'm a retired trucker and those mirrors are worth every penny.

Good advice, have used the same mirrors on prior bikes. Bought a new set to install in the spring. Was considering a different seat from stock on my FLHTK. Just picked up this seat and another install in the spring. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks Dale and I love the mirrors. I regularly get asked about them and think HD should give me some commission from the dozens they sell..haha. Which seat are you going with? Ride safe!
@@BoDean52 You should get a commission! I bought a Mustang extended reach touring saddle with backrest (same as yours). Havent put it on, spring to do it. We are in a serious cold snap here in Ontario and had snow up to our *&^ on Monday. I'm not tall, only 5'10" but old hip injury so need to stretch out my legs. This should do the trick. Looking for better comfort than stock saddle (FLHTK Ultra Limited). I'm also jamming better lights on back. Installed the LED Layback Harley tailight (67800355). Installing the saddlebag lights (67801023) and Keystone lights (67801080). Also the front signature LED turn signal inserts (67801148). Salesperson at local HD dealership has the same rear lights on his Ultra. Parts guy won't ride behind him as he says its brutal riding behind looking at the lights. Just what I need to wake up drivers! Getting all my parts lined up to install. Saw your recent RG review. I have had both including a RG. I could also be lured back to RG. They are both great touring machines, I could happily ride either. Stay safe, thanks for the videos. Cheers, Dale
I’m also 6’2’. At The time when purchasing my limited I wad 350 lbs I felt as though I had no room. I buried a demo C off of Harley dealership called the Hamic. I rode around for a week and liked it so he had them order me one day. I don’t think that the cushion and the Harley seat is nearly as good as a mustang seat in. Mustang seats are pretty awesome. Not only did I change the seat high also extended the drivers floorboard teriyaki sells a product that claims to move them forward 1 inch and outward 1 inch actually it’s more like 3/4 of a inch. Add those with a 14 inch set of meat hooks and I felt right at home. I really like the floorboard extensions. They was a big plus I believe I gained 2 inches of legroom with the seat maybe 2 1/2. I had to reposition my backrest mounting bracket to fit the seat . After having Covid three times. I’m a 105 lbs lighter (not a way I suggest to loose weight)now I feel way to small for my bike. Riding 2 up about all the time we also purchased the mount to slide the tour pack backwards and forwards. That’s a awesome addition. It’s to bad Harley doesn’t build bikes for green ups that we’ve got to spend so much to make them fit us.
Well, congratulations on the weight loss. Unfortunately you had to get sick to get there. Doesn’t matter you’re there now I’m sure you are feeling great. I understand what you’re talking about but for me I have a long legs so the mustang seat sitting me back actually made the bike feel like it was brand new to me. Are you thinking about changing to see it again?
I would just like to add how much I enjoy having a nice set of Highway pegs. I noticed you have the exact same pegs that I have and I believe that they are a must have when you’re talking about riding comfort. Last but not least, grips. I guarantee that if you tried the Kuryakyn iso grips that you won’t ever use anything else. Not to mention they match your Highway pegs. They take a lot of vibration out of your hands which make for a more comfortable ride and truly help on those long ride that we enjoy so much.
I should do all three of those on my 2005 Road King. The seat is just kind of worn out. 80000 miles on the bike and the seat just doesn't have cushion anymore. Those mirrors just look really good. But the biggest thing on my bike the handlebars. I'm not as tall as you, only about five foot eight. It has a stock handlebars and I have to lean forward and I think a little taller handlebars would help a lot because it would make me sit up straighter and be able to grab the bars a little bit higher. I don't want real tall handlebars just a few inches taller than my stock. Can't wait for this indiana-michigan weather to be over with. I'm only a couple hours south of you. Actually watching your videos and the small towns you've been riding through makes me want to go up to Michigan and do some riding. Can't wait to start riding again
Good evening! Great video… I have the same bike but it’s a 2015.. I am also 6’ 2” so I have been thinking about changing my seat. Did you get a heated seat? Please send the link. I like the upgrades that you did. Thank you in advance
heck yes, my must haves when i had my ultra classic, i'm also 6'2", was a harley hammock seat, highway pegs, back rest, apes. i think the single most valuable thing to make an ultra classic comfy is the suspension. People don't realize how bad stock harley suspension is until they upgrade. good video bud, stay warm and hope yall get some riding soon
@@BoDean52 Oh yes! my buddy has the 2019 street glide and he is kicking himself for not listening to me sooner. heard the legends are..........um legend? lol they are great!
I’m a Saddlemen extra reach seat guy, KST drop down mirrors, and KST Mayhem 12 inch bars. Sid Garner at KST in Bremen Georgia are the best in the bar business
Top 3 modifications on my FLHTK 2019 are, H-D Hammock heated seat, Legend front and rear suspension and Heli Bars adjustable handlebars. Bonus extra was adding an all HD parts Stage 2 to this 114Ci. A dream to ride !
Would like to try the mustang seat but when i looked it up it didn'tsay it fit the 08 Ultra. I've got to call Mustang direct to ask why. They may only mean there is no brown strip in the center like the original.
I have actually sold this bike a few years back and as I recall, the 10 inch worked great. That said I have a Road Glide now and it’s really 12 or 14. If I remember the 12 inches were gonna cause some problems with the mirrors or something, but I was definitely happy with the bars.
Great video! The seat and the bar upgrades took my Ultra to a whole new level. I have extended arm mirror that help a lot. If there was an add to this I would say get a touring windshield helps to lessen the head bobble to not wear you out as fast. Hope to see you back out riding soon!
Awesome video! Compared to stock bars, how much reduced reach & ease in turning these khrome werks 1.25" apes provided? I'm 5'11", own a 2020 FLHTK, stock bars are falling 1.5" short during full-lock turns & was hoping these bars would help resolve. Many thx
Good video but made me laugh. I have a 16 ultra and have changed everything on it except the seat, bars and mirrors. The only stock things that worked and looked good for me!
Love the tall man’s review on motorcycles. I’m 6’6 and I’m deciding between and Ultra street or road glide. I sat on one and thought the exact same thing the bike seat needs to go back!
Good luck in that Donald and I will tell you that I actually traded this bike in for a road glide exactly for the reason that you were talking about. I put a Mustang seat on it and it is perfect.
Try a pair of Legends Revo A shocks in the back which will quickly compel you to add Axeo fronts and it will be the best investment you will of ever made on your FLHTK. You think it’s comfortable now, it isn’t till you add the Legends. If your arms and back are sore due to handlebar placement and can’t seem to find the right ones, Try Heli Bars fully adjustable in every direction and length bars. Another fantastic investment. Last but not least, a new seat. I’m pleased with the HD Hammock heated seat so far. I’m a 5’ 10” rider. I’ll give the mirrors you referred a try, they look excellent.
@@BoDean52 There is on a Street Glide because you are going from 1.8" of suspension up to 3" of suspension. On your bike it wouldn't be as noticeable as you already have about 3" of shock travel.
I have one of the mustang seats on my heritage the stock one sucked . I also have the Bo Dean approved review mirrors .👍👍 and my bike came with the mini apes I do love them . I liked the drone view you did pretty cool . Stay warm and safe my friend. 🥶👍
Sir great video. I totally agree with you except: You need to change that ridiculous Harley brake pedal. I changed mine to a soft break and what a difference it made.
As always great video. I ride a goldwing and I also had some adjustment to seat to make it comfortable and back rest with the slide in mount is best I think. Mirrors I haven't changed I like the stock mirrors for the wing. The snow pic also made me sad . In arkansas this week we have had 7 plus inches and -8 degree weather very unusual for this part of arkansas .
Interesting that you like your arms straight. Normally arms slightly bend at or near shoulder height is what the experts recommend. I have setup my 14" like that coming from stock beach bars and finally no fatigue anymore. No fatigue on your arms? Ride safe.
I think I really do have slight bend, was really trying to illustrate they were not low to droop the shoulders. It’s been great so far and on long trips, appreciate your comments though. Ride safe
You know I am not positive I know that somebody told me that they bought the offbrands and they looked the same. Not sure if they have Harley on them or not. Good luck
The windshield! Im 6,2 and found myself looking though the edge of it, which was very annoying since it distorted my view, so i installed a 4 inch tinted one instead! no increase in wind blast was observed as i could still smoke a cig!
Get that, I ended up doing a video for them on three different sizes which helped me decide. I have a tinted on my RGL now and went through the same process. Glad you found that sweet spot

I just added the mini apes. so far I am loving the height of them as my hand no longer goes numb. Need some more miles with them but so far so good. I also added mustang heated seat and finally after about 4500 miles it is broke in and comfortable.
Did similar apes on my 2012 SG but on the 2020 Ultra went 10' miter cut apes & really love them currently researching seats & looking at the mustang after seeing your video. Love the videos
I have a cvo heated seat, Rinehart full exhaust system, adjustable backrest, and the advanced day maker. My favorite "must have" addition is the rockford fosgate speakers and amp upgrade. Period!
Thank you for this video. I really like those mirrors I think I'm going to get a set. I'm very lucky as I live in a place where you can ride all year long. We are heading to Daytona bike week on March 8th.
Appreciate that Bill and I love the mirrors. Back two years ago my wife and I went to bike week and was probably our favorite riding vacation. People watching and riding the coast was amazing and of course downtown at night. Hope to be there next year or maybe fall if they are still having it. Enjoy and ride safe!
Bought a 2020 Ultra at the end of the season. I changed the seat out on my 16SGS but not enough seat time to see what I want to do on the Ultra. I'm 6'4 but don't want to push back on the wife either. I did 14 inch apes.
Looking to get my 1st Harley, going for a tourer. So when I test ride I pretty much come to the conclusion I do not have to worry about handlebar placement. With so many shapes and sizes, other than watching videos how do I decide what route to take?
I believe looking from the side, your arms should be straight out. Also, a good dealer will help fit you and should give good advice if your looking new. Some really good TH-cam videos on bar placement out there too. Good luck!
@@BoDean52 I have the Zepplin but its too high..makes me tippy toe..still running a gel seat. But looking at the Ultimate seat over at Daytona. Its made in Canada so will take a few weeks to get in.
Hi Bro. We have exchanged before on comments as I have exactly the same bike here in UK. The light for my engine management system just came and Harley tell me it is the ABS module and it is £1k fix! Bike is 2,5 years old (out of warranty) and with lockdown I have only registered 6.5k miles. I am pushing for a goodwill fix but wondered if you had come across similar problems either for yourself or fellow Harley riders? Once this is fixed it goes I'm afraid. This is the only Harley I have owned and never again!
Oh no Brian that is awful. I have not had any real problems with the bike at this point and I am about 10,000 miles. Let me know how it goes and good luck
@@BoDean52 A second opinion confirmed ABS module is still working and no replacement required. Shame on my local Harley dealer and beware of trainee technicians!
When you installed your mirrors did you endlessly fiddle with them to get them just right and then realize they were out if whack the first time you turned the bars? I guess that's the norm for a fork attached fairing. Maybe that is why RG owners attach mirrors to the fairing. rsmf
Always wanted a Mustang but life gets in the way. I have a Harley Hammock (my sister bought it as a surprise) which is no better that the stock seat on my 12 FLHTK other than the heated part.
Okay.... Let's talk seats. Aly (that is my husband) is hating his stock seat on his Road King and wants to change it out. Someone suggested we demo the Ultra seat. So that is what we are going to try that one out. He is 5'11", so if the seat is cramped, I will suggest he tries the Mustang with back rest. So much truly is about the size of the rider. Though that is the beauty of our bikes. We can make them fit us in style and function. Big Mama is a beautiful girl!
Big Mama says thank you! So agree on the seat and I am pretty sure Mustang has seats that are not set back. I actually like my RK stock seat at least for now.
If you lived in Florida, where even the cops are texting while driving, a complete Custom Dynamics taillight ensemble would be a smart way to go. Rear-end fatalities are too common here in Florida and I had a couple of close calls myself. I now have the back of my Road King lit up like Times Square when I hit the brake pedal.
Hell of an endorsement on that seat. I always looked at Mustang but never pulled the trigger, that may change. Great video. P.s the mirrors are pretty spiffy.
I'm ok with the stock seat for now...the wife really likes it!...I did change out the bars right away...the stock ones are just down right horrible!!...other then that I changed all the red lens in the back to smoked...and added more LED lights to the front!!...thanks for sharing!!...stay safe!...ride safe!!😎👍🤙👍🤙🇨🇦 PS: its me Perry Pinksen....changed my channel name!...going to try and actually do something with it this summer!😉👍
well your new channel name got you sent to the "held for review" file so sorry for the late response. All good now! I did the same on lights and huge Custom Dynamics guy here. I love the style and look and the feel and the position of the settlement it's also an extended reach seat , because I'm 6'4, I still have the mustang seat and backrest going to try the saddlemen out for a few weeks and see if I like it, so far I'm 100% satisfied and then I'll sell the mustang seat.
Great suggestion and I have thought about changing them out. Appreciate the idea
80,000 miles dang.......good luck on the bars! Let me know if you get up this way and we can ride!
Good evening!
Great video… I have the same bike but it’s a 2015..
I am also 6’ 2” so I have been thinking about changing my seat.
Did you get a heated seat?
Please send the link.
I like the upgrades that you did.
Thank you in advance
I love the Mustang seat and will always be a fan. Good luck with yours, love to hear how you like it. Here is the link amzn.to/2RGkMpy
heck yes, my must haves when i had my ultra classic, i'm also 6'2", was a harley hammock seat, highway pegs, back rest, apes. i think the single most valuable thing to make an ultra classic comfy is the suspension. People don't realize how bad stock harley suspension is until they upgrade. good video bud, stay warm and hope yall get some riding soon
Thanks brother and I keep feeling y suspension feels fine but so many people saying the same it makes me think about it.
@@BoDean52 Oh yes! my buddy has the 2019 street glide and he is kicking himself for not listening to me sooner. heard the legends are..........um legend? lol they are great!
@@Sodiumfreeriding The Legend shocks are great. You really notice the value when you're riding fast in a curve.
@@industryousphotography2058 yeah for sure. Aftermarket shocks are the way
I’m a Saddlemen extra reach seat guy, KST drop down mirrors, and KST Mayhem 12 inch bars. Sid Garner at KST in Bremen Georgia are the best in the bar business
Good to know, may do bars on my Road King
Top 3 modifications on my FLHTK 2019 are, H-D Hammock heated seat, Legend front and rear suspension and Heli Bars adjustable handlebars. Bonus extra was adding an all HD parts Stage 2 to this 114Ci. A dream to ride !
Very nice....seat and bars are so important to me!
Great vid. Thanks for sharing. All the fun stuff to add lol
Thanks brother, appreciate you. Ride safe and hope you guys are good down there
Would like to try the mustang seat but when i looked it up it didn'tsay it fit the 08 Ultra. I've got to call Mustang direct to ask why. They may only mean there is no brown strip in the center like the original.
Weird you think they would have one, you won’t be disappointed. Let me know how it works out and ride safe
I'm liking the look and functionality of those mirrors Bob. I'm all about being seen and SEEING. Having that wide-angle view can be critical.
I totally agree and just love these Toby
Did the bars require new cables, etc?
They did not but I had them done by a mechanic
Do you know the part number on the khrome werks? Really enjoy the videos.
Thanks and here is a link to them, not sure if they are available though. This video was a few years ago
amzn.to/3bkIgdd
Are you satisfied with the 10” ape bars or do you wish you would have gone up to 12”?
I have actually sold this bike a few years back and as I recall, the 10 inch worked great. That said I have a Road Glide now and it’s really 12 or 14. If I remember the 12 inches were gonna cause some problems with the mirrors or something, but I was definitely happy with the bars.
@@BoDean52 Thank you do you like the roadglide better?
Great video! The seat and the bar upgrades took my Ultra to a whole new level. I have extended arm mirror that help a lot. If there was an add to this I would say get a touring windshield helps to lessen the head bobble to not wear you out as fast.
Hope to see you back out riding soon!
Thanks brother and what windshield do you have?
@@BoDean52 I have the XL GT cut with vent and recurve light gray Clearview windshield. It makes long rides so much more comfortable.
Many thx
That is the one thing that surprised me about these bars, it is much much easier to turn the motorcycle now with them. Best modification I ever made
Good video but made me laugh. I have a 16 ultra and have changed everything on it except the seat, bars and mirrors. The only stock things that worked and looked good for me!
haha that is funny, so cool that we can make the bikes what is best for us, other than the $$$
Love the tall man’s review on motorcycles.
Appreciate that and I hear the same about the shocks, need to do that. Ride safe
I was in Grass Lake yesterday ⛄️
Nice how were the roads?
@@BoDean52 we drove home in a heavy snow last night • I did look 👀 up your new seat on Amazon • very cool 😎
The first thing Hubby wanted to change was the exhaust lol he has the apes as well and loves them. Exciting to plan trips with snow on the ground.
For sure and our mid west weather stinks doesn’t it. I was quick on the pipes too but like these mods more. Are in the next video 🤔
For my Street Glide my top three were the Mustang seat, Legend shocks, then either the heated grips or better windshield.
So many people love the shocks, mine seem okay. That much of a difference?
@@BoDean52 There is on a Street Glide because you are going from 1.8" of suspension up to 3" of suspension. On your bike it wouldn't be as noticeable as you already have about 3" of shock travel.
I have one of the mustang seats on my heritage the stock one sucked . I also have the Bo Dean approved review mirrors .👍👍 and my bike came with the mini apes I do love them . I liked the drone view you did pretty cool . Stay warm and safe my friend. 🥶👍
Thanks my friend.....was a little freaked out taking the drone up in this cold but it did well. I still say Harley owes me on those dang mirrors 😂
Tell them to call me i’ll vouch for that.
Great mods!
Thanks! Appreciate that Opus
Sir great video. I totally agree with you except:
You need to change that ridiculous Harley brake pedal.
I changed mine to a soft break and what a difference it made.
I fixed that and sold the entire bike :). Actually ride a Road Glide Limited now. Thanks for watching and ride safe!
why didnt you like the tall boy seat? not comfortable?
No not at all…..did a good job a pushing me back but not even close to the Mustang.
so the mustang seat pushed you further back than the tall boy?
Good man choosing a Mustang Seat I have one on my 12 Ultra Limited
Agree Eric and I love it, will always have a Mustang seat here. Ride safe
Thanks Tim and what year is your Goldwing? This weather is getting of here too
@@BoDean52 I have a 1997 and a 2002 wing
Interesting that you like your arms straight. Normally arms slightly bend at or near shoulder height is what the experts recommend. I have setup my 14" like that coming from stock beach bars and finally no fatigue anymore.
No fatigue on your arms? Ride safe.
I think I really do have slight bend, was really trying to illustrate they were not low to droop the shoulders. It’s been great so far and on long trips, appreciate your comments though. Ride safe
I have seen blind spot / split vision mirrors online are they worth the 60% savings or should I go with H-D?
You know I am not positive I know that somebody told me that they bought the offbrands and they looked the same. Not sure if they have Harley on them or not. Good luck
The windshield! Im 6,2 and found myself looking though the edge of it, which was very annoying since it distorted my view, so i installed a 4 inch tinted one instead! no increase in wind blast was observed as i could still smoke a cig!
Get that, I ended up doing a video for them on three different sizes which helped me decide. I have a tinted on my RGL now and went through the same process. Glad you found that sweet spot
What bars did you say they are
They are Khrome Works and you can find a link in the description to them, i love them. Thanks for watching and ride safe
Did you have to use longer clutch/brake cables with the 10 apes?
No I did not, anything more that 10 inch requires it. Hope that helps and ride safe

Highway pegs for sure, I did those #1, then the bars, I'm personally happy with my seat, wasn't that important to me.

Bought a 2020 Ultra at the end of the season. I changed the seat out on my 16SGS but not enough seat time to see what I want to do on the Ultra. I'm 6'4 but don't want to push back on the wife either. I did 14 inch apes.
Nice.....you like the apes?
@@BoDean52 I do. Like you said it makes slow speed handling so much better.
Good luck!
Highway pegs should be number one!
Important for sure!

Maybe that is why RG owners attach mirrors to the fairing. rsmf
Thanks brother and once I got the mirrors set, I am good. Hope your well!
Always wanted a Mustang but life gets in the way. I have a Harley Hammock (my sister bought it as a surprise) which is no better that the stock seat on my 12 FLHTK other than the heated part.
Heated sounds good though Freddie. Thought I heard Hammock was good?
very nice bike! It is just hard to keep a bike stock hahah no matter what bike it is. Nice mods though!
Thanks and keeping to stock is almost impossible for sure 😂
Mustang seat for the win. I need to get some new bars soon. I’m too damn tall for the stock ones.
Agree on the seat and the bars are a game changer
anyone 6' or > is too tall for them imho
If you lived in Florida, where even the cops are texting while driving, a complete Custom Dynamics taillight ensemble would be a smart way to go. Rear-end fatalities are too common here in Florida and I had a couple of close calls myself. I now have the back of my Road King lit up like Times Square when I hit the brake pedal.
Yup same here…..all CD on my bike. Have done 4-5 of their stuff and like them a ton
Heated grips are always needed

Those seem the most important of all upgrades and not to mention rear suspensions.
Agree and I need to do the suspension for sure
