In this Video Editor Reacts, I react to One Direction - You & I. This is my first reaction to One Direction and I wasn't disappointed!

This video was meant to show the boys' more mature sound. They were indeed in a real location - it was freezing cold, Harry was quite ill. There is a behind-the-scenes video of the making of it here on TH-cam.
Oh god this gave me so much nostalgia I miss 1D what a blast to get to experience this for the first time!
They were actually on the pier, lots of behind the scenes showing them bundled in coats because they were cold in the sea winds! You should do more One Direction, they did some great videos. Story of my Life would be great next, then maybe Best Song Ever or Steal My Girl
Story Of My Life has the best video out of all 1D videos, hands down

What an underrated band. 1D had five truly great singers, good writing and solid rock production. Especially their last 3 albums. Poor Liam is always the unknown one, but his voice is beautiful.

They are definitely not underrated, they were one of the biggest boybands in the last decades. Overhated does not mean underrated
Selling out stadiums to screaming girls doesn’t equal making good music. If you ask the average adult music fan their opinion of 1D they would put them in the same category as any other silly boy band. They might have been that on the first 2 albums but then they started taking control of their sound and it’s legitimately good. The critics and the general public were never going to take them seriously until they all went solo.
I love all 1D music videos, but I especially want to see your reaction to „best song ever“ and „steal my girl“ !!!!!!

Louis can be credited with maturing their sound he pushed them to write their own songs and to have their songs mature with them he didn’t write this but really pushed their sound and really helped them all become the writers they are today

Louis has the most song writing credits for the band and you see the progression between albums as the lyrics and sounds get better and better.
The little appreciation of Louis at the start when he comes on screen. “There he is!” 🥰

Zayn has the best voice in my ears, but 1D is all about the blend and individual features coming together and it wouldn't be the same without any one of them. the end result is greater than the sum of its parts. No weak links.

Justice for Liam
This was actually filmed on a pier in the south west of england, close to bristol so is usually really windy and cold. Theres a behind the scenes and you could tell they were freezing. The pier now has a plaque with their name on it because of the music video. its pretty cool
As a video editor, I also love this and this song. Seriously, to this day they still make transitions like that, trends on tiktok.... and they're not perfect like this video from 9 years ago, without AI, just with competence and commitment to do it!

Yessssss! Ready for the 1D era! My top picks of videos I think you'd enjoy: Midnight Memories, Teenage Kicks, Best Song Ever, Steal My Girl, Story of My Life, Drag Me Down.
I love to see peoples first time reaction to 1D and being confused and surprised about the sound 😂. In my personal opinion they always had kinda a rock approach to their music, even tough their first two albums definitely classify as more "popy" (as you called it). Their sound really matured with their 3rd album Midnight Memories (where You & I is from). For interesting music videos I would suggest you check out Story of my Life, Night Changes and Steal my Girl. Considering the sound you would probably like Midnight Memories or Drag me Down.

This was filmed in my town! On the pier! Never forget the coastguard having to come out to get teenage girls out of the sea because they tried to swim out to the end of the pier!!!

Yeah a lot of people think 1D is only like their first album. They were not. There was an evolution in 5 albums and by the last album you can hear the first steps towards each individual first solo albums too.
I think this MV got a MTV (Europe) award for best music video that year. It’s a great song. If you’re interested you should watch the live performance of it. There’s a really good concert DVD from 2014 that I can recomend as an example. Filmed at San Siro stadium in Milan.

i’ve now binged watched all your 1D reactions in their solos careers and now watching this i immediately need more 1D reactions! ‘best song ever’ is a fun one including some acting in the beginning of it so i recommend watching it, as well as the ‘drag me down’ and ‘percect’ mv.

1D has a lot of great videos. They didn't skimp, and had some wonderful directors and editors working on the production. Night Changes is a good one for a video editor to react to. You'll like it! So many more too.

The one you're missing is Liam who has an extremely good voice but still struggles to find his style/tone of music. he has a lot of hardcore fans, has people who hate him with passion, but the overwhelming majority of people are just indifferent. the nostalgia for this band is stronger 😅

Love when you do one direction or the lads individually. This is so interesting getting to know how these things are made. Louis wrote and co wrote many of their songs, he is lyrical genius. Keep up the good work. One direction have so many great Videos and songs. Oh and although he's not my favorite Zayn definitely has the best voice.
This song is off Midnight Memories--their last 3 albums are a completely different sound from the 1st two. Zayn is my favorite singer

Please react to more One Direction. You should do Story Of My Life, Drag Me Down, Midnight Memories and Night Changes (as well as all the others) but I would recommend starting with Story Of My Life because I think you would like that one a lot. I personally really like the Best Song Ever music video.
My favorite voice from 1D is Niall. I feel like all of their voices can be warm blankets but his is layered with a really soft sherpa and purring kittens.

Could you please make a tutorial on how to create this morph effect? I have a short film project I'm filming in a few months and I would love to include this. It would be a guy sitting down, staring into the camera, and then turning his head and when he looks back it's someone else.
