I use the Knit Pro Cubics wooden needles interchangeable set. Just curious if it was the nylon cable or the steel cable you tried from Knit pro? I love the cubics but have also sat on and broke a few of them...
I have also tried the knitpro needles, both interchangeable and regular ones and I think they might be the worst needles I have tried (except maybe the Pony ones). Such bad quality and the needles keep falling of no matter how you screw them on. I mostly use wooden needles (seeknit) but I also broke on recently when knitting......maybe I also should go for the chiagoos! Only tried regular ones but I love those!

I am very happy with my Seeknit needles, rather expensive and I use the wooden tips but they are so nice, well worth the money :))
