Ive been looking for 0.9 beginners tips for a few hours and got very disappointed with the quality of every video I found until this one! Congratulation for your work. I really enjoy the calm and easy to understand tone of your voice. Im about to try SCUM for the first time and Im feeling a lot more confident as I watch your guide. Still 10min to go, thx a lot for taking the time to put this together.

I have just bought my first gaming pc specifically for Scum, and having watched lots of beginners guides, yours is the most helpful. You explain what you should be crafting and doing first without loads of waffle that other creators do. Thank you so much, Im off now to sit in front of my pc for the rest of the day 😄

Honestly didn't know that the scroll wheel determines your fall speed. I keep seeing people use it just no one explained it until now😂 thank you
No worries, using S key once the shoot opens will slow your speed slightly also as you’ll have a lot of forward momentum 🙂

It takes hundreds of tries for me to connect to multiplayer. Hours. On the rare occasion I get in, its great. Mostly though, I spend more time trying to play than actually playing. I've done everything I can, verifying files, removing, installing...all that.
I’ve only had this issue once, was a month or two ago and lasted about a week. I verified 3-4 times I uninstalled and installed after a week and it’s worked since. I have heard of people having issues for longer though like yourself. There’s been a lot of server work going on the past couple weeks so hopefully it’s working on this issue as well.

My advice is skip the bushes. Craft the axe like described. Then cut down a tree and chop the branch. That will give you enough sticks to craft everything you need and lot less time to get moving from drop location

Maybe it was just bad luck on my first few spawns and characters, but I feel like I was set up for failure. I spawned in C1, A1, B1 and B0. Never could find a hiking backpack, unknowingly went to the power plant area and died eventually from radiation, stumbled upon an abandoned military base with suicide puppets and mechs, then went another port factory area with mechs. On my most successful character I managed to survive long enough to get to a cargo drop, get some MRE’s, a nice compound bow and some other tools, but stayed too long by drop and didn’t realize it blew up. Spawned back in and my body was nowhere to be found (and I spawned 3 grid blocks away. I appreciate the realism and the game being unforgiving but I feel like because I don’t know the map, I spend a lot of time running to places I shouldn’t because they’re heavily guarded and I have to backtrack or waste more resources traveling somewhere farther away
Yes it can be difficult at first glance and playthrough. Honestly best advice I can give is starting out just hit up smaller towns, most high value places have some level of difficulty be it puppets/suicide puppets - Mr.Brenner. Again depends on the server you’re playing on and settings for loot etc, crafting yourself a bow and a load of arrows can keep you well enough protected against most puppets tbh. Mechs not so much 🤣
one tip I can give you, as a new player use the Scum interactive maps. Quick google search and you’ll find it. It has so much info on there for maps, info, where you can find things etc. really does help starting out 🙂
Out of curiosity, why do you go for the 20lb bow instead of the 35lb one you can also craft at that point?
Now you can craft a 35 pound bow using tree bark rope, back when I did this you would need wire to make a 35 pounder 🙂
ah. I just started playing yesterday. Funny that my first instincts were exactly what your video goes over, tore up clothes for a bag and make bow and arrows. Since I was playing singleplayer I tore up the underclothes to keep the storage space. Does the orange color affect pve stealth too? @@theurbanhermit365
Not for PvE it’s just that you stand out like a sore thumb when running and a player sees you 🤣

In real life if it would hide me better from a bullet to the head you’re damn right I’m getting rid of them, I can pick up a worn pair off a puppet in 5 minutes, plus those rags come in handy when you’re starting off 😉
Hey 3 week noob here , single player. The beds, I haven't found one that gives me the "rest" option. Is it just a few or only one you build? Waiting out a night I just walked onto the bed then lied down on it. That doesn't "count" does it?
Hold F as they changed them recently to be searchable also. So the default is search, you can also make your own crafted bed. I’ll cover this soon in a future episode when I go over building 🙂

Just installed but yet to play. On DayZ I absolutely love PVE but in a PVP server. I can hold my own in a 1v1 pure vanilla, is this PVP? The inventory looks immense, I will be eating a nice weed brownie before hand and getting into the weeds with this game. Seen it for many years but it never seemed to pick up like DayZ did. I don't like 3pp though
Yeah you can either choose PvP or PvE, can even play on your own in SP.
Yeah DayZ has had nearly double the time in despondent haha. I don’t mind the 3PP in scum as it works on like of sight, so you cant cheat and look around buildings/corners in scum 🙂
@@theurbanhermit365 I can make a fire 🔥? Looking forward to giving it a go. On dayz I played 50 hrs on a PVE server to get used to the mechanics etc. Then when I stayed PvP I was crawling bush to bush scared when no one was probably anywhere near me. I just play namalsk now and bit esseker as can't devote all week on it.
Is it worth getting on sale right now ? Steam sale 25 dollars canadian. Is it like day z ? Better or worse?
100% worth it at 50% off imo. I’ve not played DayZ in a while but vanilla DayZ vs vanilla scum for me scum wins every time. Just bear in mind it’s still EA, there are bugs but the dev team work hard and are always working on the game 🙂
Again all depends on what you fancy l, if your a fan of DayZ then you’ll probably like scum as well.

That’s something on TH-cams end, till it’s been watched enough times it’ll be like that 🙂 I started uploading in 1440 over 1080 thinking it would help but nope haha.

A good comprehensive beginner guide, it always seems daunting at first, but once you have died 3-4 times it becomes automatic. and YOU WILL DIE 🙂
