Thank you for coming to Korea and I'm sorry to have a bad experience in Korea. One thing I want to say is that the store doesn't think you're a thief. Each store has a different way of responding to customers, so there is a place where a clerk follows me even though I am Korean. I don't like this kind of store, so I don't go. I think the rest of the negative experiences are things that Korea needs to fix in the future. One tip for your next trip to Korea is to study Korean even a little bit. Koreans will welcome you very much if you speak any Korean. Also, if you go on a trip to Jeju Island, I recommend you to get an international driver's license. Koreans also use their own cars more than public transportation in Jeju Island. This comment used a translator, so there may be a misunderstanding.

this is a normal thing in Korea.... Store employees are like that to everyone including Korean customers,.. to Koreans if the employee is staying away and doing their own thing, they would think the employee was rude... so they aren't being paranoid or think you're going to steal.. understandably you are being paranoid here.. based on your Canadian/North American lense, and your assumptions of what preconceptions Koreans may have about you... but in stores in Korea they are just being attentive if you needed anything.. basically on standby.. making sure you're finding everything okay.. now you say they were only following you.. but they do that to Koreans.. maybe they felt you may have needed more assistance being that you're a foreigner.. but I am Korean American (100% Korean), and when first came to Korea I shopped in a department store, the lady would follow and look on as I shopped.. I definitely felt the same way.... then after a while of being in Korea I realized it was just how they did things here.. there's nothing nefarious or judgemental about it.. they're just there to help @@rachelbaii
