To get my ancient Akai MPD24 working, I gave myself a schooling in; MPE - Polyphonic Expression - which includes after touch, vertical and horizontal tilt - per key. PPR - Polyphonic pressure - after touch per key. CPR - channel pressure message - after touch per channel.PPR works well - guess I'll need to upgrade to a new MPE device :)
Enable MPE mode is a really neat feature for third-party VSTs that don't support it. However I can't seem to find an option for enabling MPE mode on Ableton's own instruments (let's say Grand Piano). The MPE Control plugin can come handy but if I am not mistaken I would need to enable MPE to MIDI to make it work and therefore would lose per channel modulation ?
HI there. Not all Ableton devices currently support MPE. We recommend checking this video for info on using MPE control with Ableton devices: bit.ly/3SdqjEQ . There is also a lot of good information here: bit.ly/46STrFo . Hope this helps! - Ableton
I just understood the hard way that when mpe was enabled by default on serum, it fucks up its portamento and not revert the pitch back to the long first note. Why is that?
Maybe you want to check expressive e osmose, not quite the same and in my opinion too pricey but still worth checking it out... or look after a second hand roli seaboard, which is what I would do
alternatives: joué Pro and Sensel Morph. Joué seems also have difficulty to deliver, but i am not sure. both are good alternatives. and have the X Y Z, of velocity ánd release velocity (at least the sensel morph has it). so full MPE, so there are alternatives, in about the same price range. very slide-able!..... i have seaboard block + 2 lightpad M blocks. bought the seaboard block when there was a window of opportunity, for a b-stock price, or even perhaps a second hand price now.. lightpad M blocks you see also a regular second hand at local marketplaces (don't go to eBay, use you local marketplace, even it is owned by eBay...)
@@exposada Joue is dissapointing. Its clunky and some notes sometimes doesnt hit. Also its too sensitive (tested with iPad). Aftertouch seems not working properly either.

Hi! Push 2 supports Poly Aftertouch to MPE-compatible synths, devices and plug-ins. This allows you to apply different levels of Aftertouch to individual notes, making your music more expressive. Have a look at more information about it here: bit.ly/3ks8gYu. Cheers!
why why why why isn't SIMPLER simple (....) MPE (without the workaround via sampler), big oversight, for one of the main devices.. great update, like indeed the MPE implemenation, and the other additions, i already work with experimental tracks in ableton, now it is moving forward.. but SIMPLER SIMPLE MPE, please...
poly aftertouch (the usage of the term by brands and developers is sometimes different, and not as mention in the midi specs) is not a part of the MPE spec, it is part of the midi 1.x spec, for years... but it adds a lot of expressive possibilities, and yes your CS-80 finally sounds like a CS-80... it is meant for poly aftertouch...

So amazed to what we can do with midi in 2021
Thanks, this was good stuff. Really nice track too, well done!
After many years its finally here. One of the biggest feature of 11
Mine doesnt look like this. What am I missing? I have certain MPE controls in their own lanes below the notes, but not overlaid like this.
"As I now move my finger..." - why is the finger white, though? The voice is Abayomi's :D
he changed skin for the tutorial :)
@@klovexthewolf He's a reptilian?! :o
My thoughts exactly!
Will Ableton Push firmware be updated to have some MPE uses especially for mapping the pitch bend using the modulation matrix?
I have both, but how did you do any of that ?
All that caught my attention, was the all back ground music.
I couldn’t understand him....
Can I map MPE to use with Ableton Push 2? I can't see it...MIDI is the last one... would this be on an update?
The voice of Ableton.. for me in any way 👊🙂 Abayomi's voice makes you want to learn this DAW
agree! it’s always a pleasure to hear about the new features through them

I believe so. Only a few devices are currently supported. Just Sampler and Wavetable.
Really a shame companies regularly put out videos on their products & fail to respond to inquiries :(

Is it possible to use a Keith MicMillen QuNexus to generate MPE data?
Here we goooo!
Anyone knows the scale he is playing in? Love the Oriental vibe!
Is this mpe addition somehow work with external VSTs? Would be fantastic!
Excellent. I'm just learning Ableton. Looks great 👍

where is release velocity? lift?
In the clip view’s Expression tab it’s the fourth icon at the bottom (Slide, Pressure, Velocity, Release Velocity).

Yes finally!!!!
Does anyone know if ableton can send mpe data out?
You can select mpe at midi out channel on a midi track
i noticed a tick box for mpe in midi settings so maybe that’s it?
Do you need wavetable for this?
or sampler, or simpler
Gonna have to charge up the Roli block find somewhere else to keep my pens and pencils now.
It's going to be a late night tonight with these new toys.
GIB License already! It's been the 23rd for a whole 2 hours... 🤗
Awesome
Me and my boy can use the Roli seaboard now.
