Given the last quarter of this video, I was wondering what these two brilliant readers would think of Edward Said’s critique of Baudrillard’s claim about the Iraq War not happening
@@terribleicecream3154 I know that Edward Said did discuss it in one of his late works…possibly one including Reflections on Exile or after that. Derrida also issues a critique of it and the debate he had on it is on TH-cam
I was wondering if the pseudo-event also encompasses such items as April Fool's day stuff, like the spaghetti plant, hoaxes, such as Ern Malley, the Sokal Hoax, Helen Demidenko/Darville, the cathouse for dogs, even Project Mind(rhyme for 'aquatic bird that quacks') events as the lost cat poster for an opossum. A side-note--: If presidential assassination attempts are the Disneyland of politics, does this mean Alan Sokal is the Disney, or is he the Disneyland, of Physics? :)
I’m surprise AI generated images were not mentioned. Hyper realistic, made from images of images of images, and being used as a source for things; it sounds like hyper reality to me…
Nice connection! We did an episode on AI art awhile back :) The video interview is here: th-cam.com/video/50XhxBRClWw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LVPNiaNVA06XAUnP And full (audio) podcast episode, including interview, here: th-cam.com/video/4HVfWz4EtDk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NWcMEjYo0Ku7TkRl

I thought this was a very intellectually stimulating and informed discussion. Thank you for posting!
SO GOOD! Thanks for dissecting Simulacra and Simulacrum. Now I can read the book I bought a year ago 😆
My hyperreal self was captivated by the topic. 🕶️

The latter part almost sounds like an autocritique of intellectualism itself, lost in a mirrored maze of its own making.
