- I also forgot to mention in the intro part that I added a slight brightness increase to the footage so if some parts look a little washed out it's due to that.
The final gameplay video on the development build before early access on the 24th. It's nearly here people.
Hello, greetings from the Japanese community.
I've seen several gameplay videos of Forever Winter, and yours stands out as the most refined, aligning perfectly with the creators' vision for the game. The other gameplay I've seen on different channels was somewhat rough, and I couldn't really experience the fun of the game. However, after watching your playthrough, I finally decided to purchase it.
Thank you for sharing something wonderful!
Tbh, anyone new to the game will stumble in their first few runs. But that's ok, since the setting is not meant to be for you, a scav against well-equipped military forces. It gives a whole new perspective of things.
Well said
Thanks @SuperKAMAI :) I hope you enjoy the game.
Btw, the author of the infamous manga Blame! inspired the environment design, I recommend you to read it.
Thanks for getting back to me!
I wasted no time and grabbed the game on release day to dive right in. While it’s still a bit rough around the edges, you can already see the core of what makes it fun and visually stunning. I’m super excited to see how it evolves from here. Fingers crossed that they’ll chip away at the issues over time. I'll definitely keep playing and continue to support the devs.
Keep up the good work, Scavs!
This game could be something absolutely amazing. I hope the devs take their time and get the support they need to make the masterpiece I think they are capable of. Hell, I might buy it and play just for the visuals anyway.
It comes out tmrw

I love the sound of the Eurasian drone that came around 4:45
Almost sounded like a clunky diesel engine. This game's world is FANTASTIC
Made some quiet shirek too
Sounded like some kind of fleeing beetle to me
Look at you! Being a proper scout and guide. That's the power of an immersive game!
This game reminds me of how a Terminator future war game should have been designed. I can't wait to play tomorrow! looks very good.
you know what would be good? A way to throw lures or rocks or some other way of luring an enemy to a different location so you can sneak passed them. Another thing is artilary attacks. Especially when there's clusters of units, it would make sense to shell the location rather than send in forces. This could open up new events that have you look for shelter or use gasmasks with deteriorating filters.
That would be pretty good. Keep the enemies moving about and checking away from you.
From all the different gameplays that i've seen I think yours are truly an enjoyment to see. It reminds me of the GeoWizard travels but made in Forever Winter. (Also would love to make a concept art reprsenting your group)
Agreed. I can see these three scavs being canon with the way they talk and act.
yup so far the best group up gameplay i seen, communication everything on point
I thinking a spectator mode might be interessting. Just hovering over the battlefield and watching the never ending carnage.
Like just launching a drone and surveying the intense battle between the factions, while also supporting ur teamates via recon. that'll be great!
@@macntoshe8700if the trailer is anything to go by, that could be a possibility
Yeah you can view other players as the host. Pressing TAB jumps the camera to the other players.
The fact that your water already ran out is presicly why I hate this mechanic. It will just feed my anxiety and make me feel like it's an obligation.
I like it (in theory) as a motivator while playing, though I heavily dislike the "water drains while you aren't playing" mechanic.
I feel the same way, but this game seems to really take pride in community voting for things in the game and are actually open to listening to feedback, I believe this is gonna be a common complaint by the people who are interested in the game and should be changed relatively soon
The drop off stations that allow players to donate water to other players will probably cause an abundance of water once the game is fully released and many more people are no-lifing it, thus allowing more casual play.
imma be real, you can literally drop into any map, get one water container, and ta-da, you've got todays water rations figured out
of course, this will be refined overtime, but so far, im digging it
You get a lot of water even if you're not good. 4-5 hours of playing gives you over 2 weeks
Glad you actually showed constant gameplay, not a bunch of broken up clips with useless narrative. This is what I was looking for... I already planned on buying the game. But WAS having trouble finding decent gameplay vids. Thank you!
Glad I could help you see the game in action, enjoy the apocalypse.
Wake me up when the actual vram requirements arrive, gotta cryosleep till then
according to the steam page, 8 gb vram
lmao I have a i5 and a 1680 never had a problem with any game. not gonna have a problem with this one.
@@Gills420most people don't like playing below 60fps these days
@@Skye_TLKhelps with the VHS-punk vibe lol
The game seems to want a little over 6gb on the dev server, Fun Dogs have said that they're working on optimisation.
The maps look like settlements stacked over ruins of previous ones. Almost like they're getting destroyed and then built over again several times.
That's exactly what happens. The lore to the world is super deep and cool if you haven't seen it
That's because it is. If I remember correctly, the in game lore is that cities get destroyed and then giant AI 3D printer robots essentially rebuild on top of the wreckage when there isn't active warfare.
From the lore, that's 'The Night Shift' at work. Automated 3d printer construction equipment, though it's designs are a little warped. Also, the body cleanup crew can and will grab anyone live at night, since it's there to recycle organs.
i am not even sure if i really want to play it but i am buying for sure i really want to support that team !
I'm very excited for this game. I hope it comes to the console, but it's unlikely. Continue to post videos on this and I will watch ALL of them.
The devs have said they want to bring it to console but they Wana work on it first until it's in a good state
They've always planned for a console release that's why it's supposed to launch with controller support.
You guys getting good at this!
Good bones in here but a long way to go before it can be considered a AA game/finished product from what I can tell from the jank and how quickly being a scav scrounging around gets tiring. The world looks so good though, I'll support them and wish them the best of luck.
Glad to see people are able to actually play the game properly and show what kind of fun it can be.
This game certainly has potential and it’ll be interesting to see what faction quests you’ll get in future updates
When you dropped down next to the Eurasian soldiers, that was a tense moment. 23:00
I have been waiting ever since i saw this pop up to release even in early access bc it just looks so dang fun
Just what I was looking for
I have really enjoyed these episodes. Thank you very much.
Ashen Mesa is such a *mood* of a map, I love it
nice vid 👌
I do think it would be a better starter map.
Damn that was a tense extract on the last one!
I feel like I'm already learning the maps a little bit watching your videos, not long now until early access!
i hope the devs dont forget one crucial rule : you only get one chance for a first impression. release needs to be solid for this game to be a success. from what i've seen and heard so far, performance is bad, AI is lacking, pathfinding needs work. and i havent watched that much. i wish the devs all the best because the world seems really interesting, the game loop is unique and the art style is amazing.
there are lots of exceptions of that rule even the one that put extraction shooter on the map. Tarkov really didnt do that well at release and didnt had that many players in the beginning and also had lots of issues only after 4 years or so when they did their first twitch drops it popped off. So yeah you still can have a slow start and grow as long the players think there is a good game
So stoked to get this. Thanks for covering this game
Can't wait to buy the early access version of this. Doesn't matter if it comes with bugs or weird movements, I just love the thrills in this game.
The last mission was my favorite of all your missions thanks for the videos.
Seeing you and your mates play, this game looks so fun
well done guys. The world looks so Awesome.
Can't wait for my house's computer to be fixed. I'm definitely grabbing this when I'm able to.
"Oh have a bit of tea while we wait" 26:03 stepping back and assessing the BIG problem in front of you love those moments
This game reminds me of the 1977 animated movie Wizards
The water-thingdingy is kinda weird, I get that they want people too play the game, but I hope they work that thing out! I am a casual player, love too play games, but I dont need a second job! 😁 (English must be optional, right!?😅).
Agreed. I don't have time and energy to play every day/I want to be respected enough to enjoy other games from time to time. I'm very excited about this game, but would be a bit disappointed if that feature stayed.
Edit: see my comment below
I could be wrong but by the looks of it one water supplies the base for 24hr and it stacks so you could do a few water runs on this map and be good for a week.
@@andreaslindblom9140 I also just learned that a true "water death" takes 80 days, which is FAR more reasonable than I initially assumed. I just want to be able to not play for a week (ie finals) and feel like I have to restart the game.
@@CardboardBones guess we all will know more tomorrow lol. Also you don't lose your player progress just your stash as I understand it. I'm hyped hope their launch goes smoothly but I'm here for it either way
Watching these videos I kind of understand the "clunky" movement. I guess what happens is your guy picks up momentum to get to top speed of whatever position you're in. So from a stand still to a jog/walk/sprint you gradually build up to that speed rather than it being instant.
Honestly that kind of makes sense when you think about the rig you're carrying. I guess it could be made of very light metals but I'd imagine in a world like this where you likely don't have easy access to highly durable and light materials (that would likely be worth selling/trading than using) you would be using easily found and expendable unrefined metal that has some weight to it.
Overall excited for tomorrow. I just hope that as a mostly solo player this won't feel impossible.
As a continuation on that thought, it seems that the more loot you're carrying the longer and slower the build up becomes. It also looks like it affects how fast you can turn mid-sprint. The movement actually feels like something that you'll adjust to over time, and it's the collision with the environment that ends up making the movement feel clunky. At least that's how I'm seeing it now.
@@VerbotenGeist Yeah. There's some places with rebar sticking out that visually look like you fit and are collision blocked off that I've seen trip up multiple people. (Especially on Scorched map) but that's fixable via either filling the area with something nasty you wouldn't want to step on, or adjusting collision so people can fit through.
Looking like this has possibilities. Thanks for the footage. HaS MY INTEREST.
Love how you work as a team.
So the firefight at 19:00 is very intresting to me becouse i think it show what the devs said about units having internal threat level of the players. You got into a shootout with what i think was Euruska fireteam and during the engagment Europa fire team came behind you but didnt engage on you becouse you A were shooting their enemies B you were not a threat to them so after you killed them all they just left becouse you didnt do anything to them so you had time to rez your friend even in their line of sight but thats my observation.
Or it could be early acess junk and they didnt registere you existed XD
That's something a lot of people I've talked to bring up. Unfortunately, it's difficult to tell what's intended behavior and what isn't due to the lack of communication to the player. If it is enemies ignoring the player on purpose, there needs to be some way of telling the player. Having them wave off the player or give verbal warnings would help. I don't think you'd just completely ignore an armed person who happens to be a civilian. Someone in the squad would definitely be keeping an eye on them even if you're not shooting yet.
I'm assuming that it is intentional by the dev, during the fight you can see the rep change in the top left corner.
@@HTacianas I think a stopgap for that would be a sort of 'Green/Yellow detection' like the red markers for actively hostile units. A signal that 'We know your there and don't care.' would help players to know when it's the AI not considering them a threat vs the AI not seeing them. A full on Green/Yellow/Red detection for 'Don't care/Back off/Engaging' would visually convey states to people beyond the current 'investigation bar/! of detection/red 0 of engagement' setup.
tysm for showing gameplay, this really exites me for when the early access comes out!

Great vid. At last, someone who took this game seriously. Can't wait for longer vids
This game is intense! Looking forward to this one.
I want this game to succeed so badly
Hunter killers spawn when you pick upp a item with a tracker on it, thats how they track you fast, basically easiest way to get rid of them, except of running for your life, is to just drop the items you just picked up and deal with it
Good to know.
so its always the same spawn, same map, going the same successful path until its grinded enough to move to harder place?
You can set off timed extracts, and then run to let all the enemies fight each other. You don't have to stick around.
Hi! Thank you for your video! It seems that you are having fun with the game! Sorry to bother you, but the tune at the beginning of these videos is intriguing, could share where is it from? A big hug from Argentina!
Ah yes, i can't wait to run this game with my RX580
There is a demo coming in October for benchmarking purposes.
Good man. Keep making these :) I love the world.
I was so mad when they pushed the release date to tomorrow. I was pumped to play it when I got home tonight (23rd)
I'm curious what happened to the rest of America in this game. How could the hegemony of the world fell this hard, when it had great military technology? Really looking forward to the lore and I hope my PC can run it
Also, why are all these cyborgs carrying whiskey, cigarretes and toys!?
Unsure about america but it could still be standing just away from the conflict since the world is fucked so they might be keeping to themselves atm since their are no more long range comms and they don't Wana risk bringing it home
@@JulitoAgapitoI think it's cause they are getting things that remind them off their former life ( cyborgs are citizens forced into a shell off a body to act as a opening grunt attack. ) So some believe if they do well enough they can go back home ( fyi most off this is confirmed lore the only thing that isn't is why they gather the items
Strangely, the technological gap between the world powers are flipped in this universe. Europa (Western Europe and both of the Americas) are stated to be on the technological backfoot, using overwhelming numbers to make up for their obsolete equipment. Meanwhile, Eurasia (all of Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Europe I believe) and Euraska (Russia and Africa mainly) are technologically superior but fewer in number.
@HTacianas tbf if Russia, Japan, and China banded together, they'd get a tech foothold over the US in a heart beat. Problem is the cooperation part.
I Bet the Reviews will be Mixed.
Yeah I like this game and think it will end up being great but personally I think it should go in the oven for another 6 months and then release to early access.
So how long does each unit of water last? is each one a full day irl?
I earned 8 days of water in 2 hours playing solo. If i can earn that much in such a short time i really don't think the water system is as big a deal as people have been making it out to be.
Looking good guys!
I do feel like the Hunter Killers shouldn't be a thing. Or at least they shouldn't always know where you are.
My official submission- Zomborgs
I'm excited to see you play EA
I really hope they change the water system, only thing holding this game back. The brutal grim dark setting, the scavenging for scraps, the tense gameplay seems great.. But then if you can't play the game regularly you're just screwed out of progressing.
The water system using IRL time than game time is the only real thing homding me baxk from getting the game (Hopefully for console)
No console releases for casuals
@@kadeshaderow Then don't complain if the game flops elitist
Super early upgrades to make water burn slower and let you buy it with credits are currently in the game. Also the devs said they are looking to balance water so it isn't punishing to have a real life. They want to pressure the player to upkeep the base but not penalize them.
@@Osmo-7777saying the game will flop because it’s not ready for console is a bit of hyperbole
There'll be a demo in October to have a look at, I'd recommend keeping an eye on it as it might change.
Do the Hunter Killers come when you stay too long at a specific area?
seems when u loot something of high value it puts them on you, dunno if there may be another reason for the HKs being on you.
Best I can tell, mikefadeaway has it right. When they're called in seems to tie to valuables being grabbed. In this case, Water. It's not yet clear to me if that's a case of 'X, Y and Z are HK worthy' or 'X value or more is HK worthy'. But I'm glad to see you can lose the HK teams in the fog of war.
Hey bro, what settings and specs for this game's current build are you using? GREAT GAMEPLAY btw!

I wish this game had a push or kick skill. To push some of these creeps off ledges.
As a console gamer, I'm painfully jealous anyone is playing this and I can't lol! But there's hope if it does well. Watching people play, it seems to have an amazing vibe to it, like it pulls you into a visceral experience. Can't afford to hang with you PC players though. Just gotta watch yall play my dream game😢😂
for the water mechanic concerns: What if there was an insurance system (like tarkov or the cycle) but for stored items? No idea if this would work/ be balanced. Just throwing the idea out there. If anyone has thoughts, feel free to enlighten me.
The water cycle has become a major issue as of early access release.

Thanks CR!
despite all the jank ive noticed and mixed reception of the beta that ive heard, im still buying the EA becuase i wanna give feedback and hopefully help make this game the best it can be
What music are you using for the short intro bit?
Does anyone else not like the character models or is it only me?
What exactly is the difference between Europa GRINN and standard Europa Infantry?
Infantry seem to have older, possibly sub-par gear and rifles like the M4 and M16. Europan GRINNs and Europan EODs are better equipped, with up-to-date gear and better weapons, along with having specializations (though this doesn't stop them from mowing down basic enemy units, including you). I've seen EODs wipe out entire hordes of Eurasian melee cyborgs with their rifles despite specializing in explosives, and the GRINNs use the .50 caliber rifles, which means they likely specialize in taking down Eurasian Heavy Brawlers and other heavily armored units. There is occasionally Europan Elite Infantry, who are simply "regular infantry, but better equipped."
Nice Videos! Showcases the game very well. Did you (or anyone you know of) had a chance to play with a controller? I need some feedback on this!
The game does support controllers on steam. It mentions partial controller support for Xbox controllers. Of course if it's not great you can always refund and have a look further down the line.

Still having the geometry issues. They're really going to need to fix people getting stuck on the terrain like that, it's not a small issue.
You could cut the tension with a knife.
This was a very good video.
Nowadays games are being plagued by some kind of new generation of gamer, and game journalism that is serial, single polarity and only believes in violence. They only believe in "If its Red its dead" and just have to kill, kill, kill, and are driven by violence.
Thank you for playing in the true aspect defined by the devs of the game. This was very enjoyable and helped secure my reason to purchase EA.
Absolutely love the content! Roughly how long did it take you before you got solid weapons / loadout to take on combatants?
Once you have four days of water stored another weapon trader arrives and he's got a couple of weapons with him. The new trader also has a number of weapon parts that come in handy for upgrades, the game so far has been reasonably generous with weapon parts found in loot.
In terms of game play under two hours to get new weapons (includes the time I spent walking around the innards looking at things), I was able to upgrade my base weapon from found parts in under a hour.
@@namaan_taw8259 thanks for this! How many hours do you think you have in FW? Are you still excited to play it? Will you be picking up the EA version?
God I can’t wait to be a lil gremlin
If my internet stays stable then my download will be done in 7 minutes cant waitAaa
Is there anything like a stealth attack, like melee takedown, silencers, etc., so you can kill without alerting everyone around you?
also how different are Russians ? we all know the Chinese robots and EUropean scrap army, but the Russians are kinda rare i think
The Euruskans take the biomechanical engineering of Eurasia to the extreme. Almost everything they use in integrated with that technology in some way or another and from the looks of it that Euruskan infantryman we saw when they were sneaking by to the chain was no exception as it looked like most of his body was machine while he got to keep his head. The Euruskans also field cyborgs of various kinds and are the reason we have Toothy and the huge mechanical dog unit with a human face. I think the devs said they also created the Mother Courage units. So yea these guys seem to be freaks for lack of a better word.
There's melee executions The players can do but I'm not sure how silent they are.
There are suppressors for many of the weapons, once the new trader arrives (four days of water) he's got a good selection. There is melee but as we're cowards we choose to run.
wait what!? you're loosing resources while not playing the game!? how does that make any sense? i was already set to buy this straight out of the gate, i'm not sure anymore...
Given how angry people are about this I can see the devs changing it sooner rather than later.
Is there no map to guide you?

Why ate people paying it and I'm just watching it....that is not fair
Was Sgt just lagging or is that a server side stutter?
Due to location (Africa) my ping was a little high, so lag was interesting. It's something many Oceanic and Africa players work around with online games.
Water running dry even without playing it?. thats stupid...they really need to get rid of that.
In being two guys they are bug out?
Does FW support controller schemes or am I stuck to kb and mouse 😅
It does have partial controller support for Xbox pads.
those walking animations are cringe, looks like my granny carrying her zimmer on her back!
I think its fun in the beginning if you have friends that also likes to play stealth, but I seriously doubt how the gameplay will last if playing scavenger is the ONLY viable option. I mean people don't mind hard games, as long as there is a possible to eventually gain power/skills over it, but if its a perpetual getting beat down all the way to endgame, how does that even work? Just wondering. I like the game devs though, chances are will just buy it to support them.
Most of the gameplay seems to be with starting weapons which surprise suck. There is a few vids with higher end weapons and suppressors. That seems to allow you both play more covertly and take on more enemies depending how much ammo you bring.
you will level up your stat and get better weapon. because there will be a bounty quest for high priority target

Picked the game up tonight, just can't play the coop since matchmaking isnt working. Been unable to extract with water on a solo game. I can extract on Cemetery but I haven't found any water there. They have a long way to go with this game but thankfully its forgiving with deaths since money seems to be easy enough to farm.
Ashen Mesa has water in the multistory buildings, the extract can be a little tricky at times. Mech graveyard has a water supply area, be patient to avoid the patrol (they will leave) and the extract is a little closer though it's fairly tight quarters.
Co-op they pushed through a hotfix, fingers crossed that works for you.
