100% with you on spaceship salvage games. My dream game would be Hardspace Shipbreaker but you go find the derelicts while flying your ship in an open world, a la Sea of Thieves... Really hope Jump Ship scratches that itch
@@weylinstoeppelmann9858 for what is worth, that's just supposed to be the "hull stripping" phase of salvage, and CIG have said they are (allegedly) going to expand on salvaging and include a hull-breaking phase of salvage. Whether or not that actually comes, or if it'll be fun or not, is up for debate. But according to CIG at least, salvage isn't done and we are supposed to get some more salvaging options.
I played and replayed the first game 3 times... Unique story and gameplay. Roleplaying game in it's truest form. I didn't know about the second game but I am hyped immediately
The OG Sleeper game had one of the best stories of any indie game I've ever played. So I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Great overview man! I'm not surprised they chose you for the exclusive, Your coverage of indie games is consistently epic.
I bought Citizen Sleeper after watching your original vid, once you get into it the story is very unusual and deep. So, yeah, I'm not going to "sleep" on the sequel.
I absolutely loved the first game of that name. It was one of the most minimalistic masterpiece RPGs I have ever played. A "Sleeper Hit", so to speak. 😊 I am very much looking forward to this sequel.
I definitely wasn't expecting to hear a reference to that one. Loved that game as a kid. Still go back and play a round or two of it every now and then.
I love love loved the first one. My first completed playthrough left me in tears as its so beautifully written. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one for sure
Finished the firs tone long ago, played this Demo just recently and oh boy I am so in love. It's like the first one, only with more stuff to do and thank god you start with a fresh story.
Always had interest in the first game. Like the art style and the premise. Think I might have to hit that first one up before this drops. Didn't quite not exactly what to expect out of it in passing, but after watching this preview I'm pretty sold. Roleplaying in the ruins of interplanetary capitalism? Yes pls. I mean, I know it's basically that here on Earth but... Late-stage capitalism in spaaaaace + salvaging is my weakness too.
Lots of you who are interested in CS probably know that the game is heavily based on Table Top RPG mechanics. Here is a recent series where the main dev of CS plays a homebrew TT RPG version of CS with some of his friends. He talks quite extensively about CS whilst they play, so you may find it interesting. Hopefully it interests those not familiar with TT RPG's to take a closer look (wink) th-cam.com/video/SCP7Pf12xcU/w-d-xo.html
lol bbq elbow! i just literally got home from mels diner after night out in sf. hey thanks for the entertaining and informative videos on new and upcoming games!
Love the 1st game, and after seeing this I love what I'm seeing. Managed to get through the multiple ways the Sleeper could end the game but I chose 2 endings, 1st being the one where you and the dad with his kid find your own way off the station after getting screwed over by the corpo. Then the 2nd ending is where The Sleeper becomes one with the Rogue but benevolent AI in the cut-off part of the station. It seems like choosing which class of Sleeper you are now has some "consequences" now since it looks like each class has a skill that they won't ever be good at whereas in the 1st game, you just have access to all the skills, it just takes a lot of completed quests/drives to access them. And in exchange we now have party members with their own dice to throw in. An acceptable change to the game, I just hope that the party members also "level-up" with the Sleeper, or is leveling up just a Sleeper thing in this world?
Loved the first game. I didn't like that some of the dlc content (which the game doesn't tell you) are mixed into normal gameplay which lead to pacing problem as well as missing endings (didn't want to "end" the game so didn't lick those endings yet). Anyway will be picking up the game.
I'd classify the series as "Resource Management Adventure Role Playing Game", RMARPG. I'm disappointed that this sequel isn't going to be here this year.
If mils diner I'd take a Belgian waffle 2 eggs 2 sasuage 2 bacon and tea, if it's lunch a ribeye a cup of soup dinner salad and a soft drink preferably coke no ice.
You know, the first game wasn't *bad* but it never really struck me as 'good' as I was playing through it. The gameplay was super basic and almost inconsequential, and while some of the stories were pretty good, some of the stories were really, *really* awful. I 100%-ed the thing and kinda forgot about it...except over time I kept remembering the handful of stories I thought were actually really solid and done well. It's definitely not a ringing endorsement, but I think I'll check this one out. Maybe they polished up some of the more annoying character archetypes and cliches.
Want that cryberpunk space experience? YES! Wanna go and immerse yourself in running jobs to far out places with rpg turn style fights & ship to ship cambat? YES, YES, YES! Well **** you all space games should be a slog about corpo slaves & if you deviate from the story (air quotes) you will 1st have your save ruined, then you die.
I'm not going to watch because I enjoyed the first game a lot, and I don't want to spoiler myself. Figured I would comment for engagement at least because from what I recall it was your video on the first game that got me playing it. Pretty sure I finished the first one. Was kind of hard to tell, I kind of just succeeded at everything to do so I just kind of kept existing on the station?
beautiful. so it seems the "data world" was dropped.... unfortunate, that was such an easy way to generate a reliable source of cryo with 1 and 2 dice. too OP ig. condition seems to have been dropped, replaced with the new stress mechanic. energy is now max 3 but degrades only by 1. looks like the 'unsuited' skill of each class is completely locked out, instead of debuffed, and you start with another 'weak' skill with a pretty heavy malus. we get some new class specific abilities with Push, probably Glitch too. and the biggest of all, the whole contract/Rig/map system, to manage fuel and supplies to take on big payout mini quests and travel the system!
This seems like a very early build and a demo. I don't think we can assume anything quite yet about stuff that isn't in the game (i.e. data world could just not be implemented yet). Contract system does look super neat tho
100% with you on spaceship salvage games. My dream game would be Hardspace Shipbreaker but you go find the derelicts while flying your ship in an open world, a la Sea of Thieves... Really hope Jump Ship scratches that itch
I was hoping Star Citizen would be that game, but salvage plays more like power wash simulator....
It won't be nearly as pretty, obviously, but Ostranauts is looking to be like that.

Citizen Sleeper is one of my favorite games of all time, and I say that as an old head. Glad to see a part 2
Oooh! Citizen Sleeper already got a sequel? Nice! The first one was a fun little game.
Not that already, unfortunately - release date is sometime 2025, at least according to Steam.
I got CITIZEN SLEEPER because of your review and it is hella cool. So, probably gonna check this out too. Thanks!

citizen sleeper 1 was SOOO GOOD. I especially loved the OST. really looking forward to the sequel
Wow, a "Jones in the Fast Lane" reference. I loved that game back in the day

Loved the first one, so I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel. Pleased to hear you got an exclusive too Splatty, that's awesome.
OMG "Jones life in the fast lane", nice 1991 reference :)
I definitely wasn't expecting to hear a reference to that one. Loved that game as a kid. Still go back and play a round or two of it every now and then.
Finally some gameplay to watch to tide me over till the full game comes out!
I love love loved the first one. My first completed playthrough left me in tears as its so beautifully written. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one for sure
I loved the writing in the first game
That writing is so good. I'm absolutely hooked on this story.
So cool! Love a game with great tabletop RPG vibes; the first Citizen Sleeper was excellent and this sequel looks just as good.
Finished the firs tone long ago, played this Demo just recently and oh boy I am so in love. It's like the first one, only with more stuff to do and thank god you start with a fresh story.
JONES IN THE FAST LANE reference right off the bat! One of us! ONE OF US!!
I LOVE the first Citizen Sleeper… if this is half as good it will be GOTY
Honestly, if you wanted to 2 part this video Splat. I think most people would dig it
Loved the first one! It's a major vibe!
They made a second one?!? Good job.

Best news this week, i adored citizen sleeper, it getting a sequel is awesome.
So excited to try this. The first game quickly became one of my favourites.
Wow, this game looks awesome. I've never even heard of the first one. I guess I need to go check it out too.

Best thing at Mel's is Mel's potatoes topped with gravy, or a Tuna Melt on Rye.
Citizen Sleeper was amazing. Excellent dialog and story.
This is RIGHT up my alley.
I loved the first game, bought the physical copy on Switch.. looking forward to this..
Gotta tune out here. Love your stuff but love Citizen Sleep even more. Not gonna spoil myself here. Thx for spreading the game though o/
This is one my most anticipated games. Loved loved loved the first one.

A "Jones in the fast Lane" reference within the first 1min...

This game art style 😳 I want to bathe within
Wait what? Thought this would take longer
Its in development, this is an early review copy. Release date is early 2025, and the developer says its about 50%-60% done at the moment.
Im so excited for this game,!!!
The dice system seems nice.
Operator gameplay could use a bit more Jim Croce references, but otherwise looks great. Will have to pick up this and the previous entry.
the gameplay reminds me of Opus : Echo of Starsong with the 3d ships mixed with 2d characters, high quality art, and dicerolls to progress the story
i cant believe you know about 'jones in the fast lane'!!! OMG! LOL!! XD
