    Хороший вариант для грубой очистки пруда. У меня одеты на трубу просто колготки. Дальше у меня идет короб с щетками, а потом гравий с растениями. Дальше у меня биология и потом УФ лампа. А еще часть воды идет на орошайку( лейка) и потом в пруд. Вода всегда чистая и рыба здоровая. Удачи всем!!!

    Hi, Well made and very interesting. How often do you have to clean it out in the summer and how long does the netting last? Great video, thank you for sharing. Terry.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have just build it this winter, so I cant really tell how its doing at summer when Algae is blooming.
      - but Ive been testing a one tube barrel for 2 weeks where I had to clean one time each 4-5 hours at first, but in the end when the pond was cleaned up, one tube lasted allmost two days ( those tubes where the once I cleaned in the shower.
      Its the first day of running with 5 tubes that I filmed today, Iam hoping that it will be running for 3-4 days betwine cleaning, but keeping 10 tubes its no big deal to wait for all teen is dirty before cleaning.
      Even the net is dryed up, they are still this easy to clean ( these tubes where dryed up for 2-3 days before I cleaned them, because I was preparing the 5 tube version )
      I will keep you informed in the summer, if its good or bad in the long run..
      - but its a system where you can just ad more tubes, the combined surface is very large..( more than a pro drum filter - but ofcause not selfcleaning like a drumfilter ;) )

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck with it and I hope all goes well for you. It's a very ingenious system. Yes, let me know how you get on, I'd be very interested. Terry.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, luck is allways needed in fitting portions once you are experiementing with filters.
      - I have actually been watching your diy filters for a while and did consider the static bed filter, but I just think it collects dirt and algae for a very long time, and this will polute the water even it seems clear.
      and it does require more work than I would like to do, and getting it "truely clean" looks diffecult and uses alot of water.
      - no water is wasted in this barrel, and dirt is removed from the system once the tubes are pulled out.
      I will keep you and others updated with a month or two betwine, and if too long time has passed, feel free to leave a comment / question.
      I havent really completed the pipes in the "outlet" since this setup is still just "testing" before I make the final installation., because I wont bother about fitting the right pipes if it doesnt work in the long run. :D
      Btw, I noticed that you battle treadalgae every year.. could you consider make more flow in your pond, to make the water move faster, it seems that tread algae wont grown in those arears of the pond where the flow is greatest.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You say my system uses a lot of water but you need to do a 10% water change weekly on any pond as there are minerals in tap water that are good for the fish. This works nicely with cleaning my filters once a week in the summer. Algae is not a problem now as I use Cloverleaf Algae Clear once a year in the spring which lasts all year until the next spring and keeps the pond clear. Anyway all the best and I hope it all goes well for you. Terry

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are rigth, changing water is a good idea, this pond of mine is still new and it only have few fish compared to its size, so, for now I dont need to do massive waterchanges yet.
      - the Cloverleaf that you have made a video of, seems like a good solution.
      if I ever get problems that could be a way to fix the algae ;)
      This year I get a few more fish, for now I rather spend the money on more fish.. and later at filters when it gets needed.

  • @pikmak920

    Hey Ronni, are there any diagrams of this filter around? I understand the materials used, but the water inlet and outlet confuses me. I would have thought the water would have been pumped through the pipe and through the sock, from bottom to top, but it looks like your inlet pipe is in the same chamber as the socks and goes down to the bottom? Plz help me understand better. Great video by the way and your pond looks spectacular.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the inlet is in the same chamber as the socks.. so the inlet fills up the barrel, and gravity lets the water go into the socks and out the bottom chamber of the barrel, and gravity lets the water run back to the pond.
      - the entire barrel is placed higher than the surface of the pond.
      what happends when the socks are filled with dirt.. well. the water level in the barrel will rise and the water will run up over the socks and down the vertical pipes.. this is why the top of the socks/pipes must be just little lower than the top of the barrel.
      This makes it a system than you can forget about and it will not overrun and emty the pond.. it will just stop filtering the water.
      if you find me Ronni Moric, on facebook, I will make you a drawing and send you a few "build" pictures.. I dont have many, but I have a few !

    nice idea :) how much gallon/litre it can filter per hour? duration of cleaning ?

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly got no idea on how much water it filters pr hour..
      but my pond has just Seive and Bakki Shower + this DIY filter.
      - and one pump, that is feeding both this DIY filter and the Bakki..
      the maximum is probably limited by the hight the DIY is placed over the ponds surface, since its gravity that pulls the water out to the pond.
      But what you should look at, is my "underwater videos" and look how clear the water is, and its about 5280 US gallons / 20000 liters.. more of less.
      At the moment, I clean the filter one time a week.. but maybe it will be more at summer when the algae will be blooming, I dont know yet.
      this is my latest underwater video..
      th-cam.com/video/Hxo58HKoZZ8/w-d-xo.html
      without this DIY filter, the water would NEVER have been this good, since a Sieve ( my300 mesh ) would never be able to clean out the water.
      - and it wasnt even close to being this good when I installed it.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      since this is just a mechanical filter, it serves no purpose as bio filter, so cleaning it doesnt really matte.
      have a huge bakki shower that has the bio filter part, so I should be good.
      keeping a koi pond is alot diffrent from an akvarium, it easy to have a huge filter compared to the akvarium, so it hardly ever need a clean.
      but enlarge the akvarium to a pond size, just imagin the filter you need for the koi pond to match the size of an akvarium
      you really need a prefilter in a koi pond, the best is the rotary drum filters, sekond would be seives, but sieves does not take out all the dirt/algae/waste, and you need to clean them on your own.. the RDF does all the work for you and filters alot better.
      so.. if you can afford it, go with the RDF.
      sekond, you need biofilters,
      go with Moving beed or japmat filter, and then a bakki shower to complete the cirkle.
      so..
      RDF -> Japmat or moving bed -> bakki shower
      that is the best setup.

      There is really not alot to it,
      a barrel,
      a plate with 5 ( more or less ) holes to fit the vertical piping.
      a nettubing that fits the pipes
      a filtersock
      one holes for inlet and one for outlet.
      But, if I had to make a "how to" video I would have to take it apart, I dont have more materials to use.. and that would not be ideal.
      - yet, you can find me at Facebook, Iam the only "Ronni Moric"

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pipe I used is Standard 110mm Wavin Sewer pipes
      .
      The Net Tubing is Bought from EXPO-NET.dk
      Its 120mm outside and 115mm inside
      I believe they are normaly used as Gutter Netting, or try to seach plastic net tubes.
      .
      And then again Drain-Sleeve 4inch
      .
      but, just find the sizes you can use, if you find them in larger og smaller sizes doesnt really matter, if they fits each others :)
      If you find small tubes / pipes and drain sleeve, you can add alot more vertical pipes for you build = more surface = longer intervals betwine cleaning.
      .
      This setup Ive build has more combined surface than all "koi pond drumfilters / rotaty drums" so it takes a while before they need clean out, depending on how dirty your water is.
      - at first I had to do clean out a few times a day, but now, its running alot longer..serveral days before they need cleaning.

    bog filter is miles away superior than this, and just need probably once/twice times maintenance for 3-5 years

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, this works, and takes out dirt and debries from the water each day, like a RDF.. this one is just manual cleaning.
      a bog filter can end up as a bacteria bomb if unlucky.. also, the cleaning is a huge task, I would imaging if I placed at bog filter at my pond, it will be to dirty within a week, I am removing ALOT of green algae each day with my filter, this algae wont go away from the pond with a bog filter..
      it simply wont work with a pond that make alot of algae each day.

    • @dicephalous9076
      @dicephalous9076 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there's no "unlucky" condition, my bog filter is really
      calculated and predicted in all aspect, and my nitrate level is always
      around 5 -10 ppm for over 6 years, I check it monthly ,what did u mean
      with "bacteria" here ? anaerobic bacterial ? and over the time can
      build sulfur dioxide and can kill ur fish ?,its easy, if ur O2, water
      flow plant type, ur bog media and set up is correct, theres no problem
      at all, and the cleaning is super easy, I just installed clean pipe to
      backflash muck in the gravel, and I did it after 3 years, well for
      algae.., its really impossible to get rid completely algae from the
      pond, I have algae but only on some spot in pond, but the water is
      crystal clear, my fish very healthy too

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking if the bogfilter went wrong and it became a biohazard ( bad bacteria )
      about algae, my pond is in direct sun all day. so I get alot of floating algae, that end up in the filter. you would be amazed to know how much I remove from the sieve and this DIY filter each day..
      if this had to be removed / filtered in a bogfilter, it would be a mess.. I believe at the moment there is about 20kg a week of string / floating algae caught by the filters.
      nitrate isnt really an issue with koi.. nitrite is..
      but making a huge plant filter is probably the best.. yet I have no plant filter..
      I have just Sieve / Bakki shower and this DIY filter for polishing the water ..
      - the bakki shower is my bio filter.
      but it doesnt really matter how we make these filters.. the just have to work :)
      could you make a video of your pond and setup ?

    • @matt3phi
      @matt3phi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dkphantomdk I don't think you have ever seen a real working bog filter. If you did you wouldn't make opinion based conclusions like that. Your speculating. Go see some ponds with appropriate big filters. Your ideas about algae not disappearing is false.

    • @dkphantomdk
      @dkphantomdk  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wrote "thinking and if" in my answers, I dont think I ever wrote " I know" and " it will " - this alone should make people understand that I have no knowlegde of bog and plant filters.
      - like I said, I think if I added a bog filter, it would be filled with algae from the pond very fast.. maybe it would make a huge slugde mess for me.
      Iam removing alot of algae and waste each day since my pond is a dedicated koi pond with flat walls and bottom.. and more koi than a lake wold have pr m3 water.. also the food added makes more waste.
      - yet I do believe a bog or plant filter will work if it had the right dimensions for the pond, but I think it will just do the same job as another biofilter like a bakki shower, it will just require alot more space !
      But consider this, a lake is a well balanced bio filter but they are rarely crystal clear.. !
