- I was watching the Heathers, so whenever I decided to do these designs, I just had that in mind for the diamonds. : P
My concept in mind is kinda like... Heathers meets private boarding school, and the Diamonds pretty much run everything.

Yellow Diamond: Strict teacher who is much more strict on days when she mourns over her sister, Pink. She and Blue are sisters. Always wears a yellow diamond(shape)pendant.
Blue Pearl: Blue's best student. Quiet and loyal. Top in class, always in Yellow Pearls shadow. Human name: Pearla. Wears blue Pearl pendant.
Yellow Pearl: Best in Yellow's class and most popular. Very loyal, sometimes too arrogant. She and Pearla are sisters. Human name: Margarita, Nickname: Pearly.
Pearl: Average student with anxiety, always wears a white Pearl barrette. Best friends with Rose, Ruby and Saph, and Amethyst. Became saddened when Rose moved. Takes sadness onto Amethyst.
Rose Quartz: Average student who everyone thinks is a hippy. Best friends with Pearl, Ruby and Saph, and Amethyst. Hated by Blue and Yellow for being involved in the car crash that killed their sister, Pink. Had to move away because of this. One button on her shirt is pink.
Sapphire: Quiet and average student. Always wearing a sapphire bracelet on her right wrist. In a relationship with Ruby. Hated by Blue for sticking up for Ruby. Human name: Sophy, Nickname: Saph
Ruby: C student who is hated by Blue after talking back to her for one of her insults at her wrong answers. Then having Saph stick up for her. Is in a relationship with Saph. Always wears a two string bracelet that holds a Ruby at the end on her left wrist.
Jasper: Star athlete and an average student. Was bullied for her birthmarks and her naturally colored corn silk white hair. Was one of Pink's students and had to be transferred to Yellow's class. Human name: Jasmine, Nickname: Jasper. Trying to redeem her friendship with Lapis after taking advantage of her(no, not rape). Nose becomes an orange like color when mad or embarrassed.
Lapis Lazuli: Hates Jasper after finally returning to her hometown after a few years. She was bullied by Peri and Jasper. They became friend shortly after. C student. Human name: Lana, Nickname: Lapis Lazuli. She was nicknamed Lapis because of her infatuation with the color blue. Secretly has a crush on Peri. Has a ribbon that goes around her collar and ends in between her shoulder blades. The ends of the ribbon have small teardrop shaped lapis gemstones.
Peridot: Second best student of Yellow. Had a hateful enemy-ship for Rose and her friends, but befriended them through Ruby and Saph. Was homophobic, but then realized she had a crush on Lapis. Used to wear heels all the time to be tall, finally decided to stop wearing heels. Master inventor and fixer of present day technology. Needs to wear glasses. Hair is partially in the shape of a triangle. Always wears a barrette with an upside down smooth Peridot gemstone. Human Name: Persephone, Nickname: Peri/Peridot. Also has a crush on Amethyst.
Amethyst: Below average student who barely gets by, but only through copying Pearl and Peri. Went through a series of foster care homes after her parents abandoned her as a kid. Finally ended up at Pearls house. She has a depressing back story and is energetic. Loves to play baseball. Always wears an amethyst pendant, the only thing she was left with after her parents abandoned her.

Yellow pearl= Yellow pearl is very snotty and popular among other kinds. She constantly follows Yellow diamond and is a loud mouth, but strictly does what her diamond
says.
Yellow Diamond= She is defiantly the most popular gem at the school. She will always get her way and is always ordering commands. She is pretty sassy and isn't as loud
as her pearl but can get super angry.
Pearl= Pearl is pretty salty and a bit popular, but bullied by the two diamonds. She has a raging crush on Rose. She is pretty nice and very smart, but doesn't usually
show off her skills. She can be a bit shy though.
Rose= Rose is one of the nicest kids in the school, and one of the most popular. She loves about everything but always keeps her secrets to her self. She is developing
love for Pearl who is almost always by her side. Many people look up to this smart girl. Soon white diamond will hate her as a student and Yellow and White diamond to hate her because she was involved with the murder of Pink Diamond. (she didn't murder he though in this)

Ruby= Ruby is motly known for being the fastest at school and the best at gym. She is very energetic and powerful, always a try-hard. She is usually only caring and
soft to Sapphire, who she dates. She isn't always the smartest, and can get VERY angry.
Jasper= Jasper is basically a misunderstood popular girl. Some fear she will bully them, or some dont care. To be honest to is VERY athletic, smart, but looks up to
Yellow Diamond too much. Recently her mind has been changing, her tone turning softer but still getting very angry and still determined like how she used to be.
Lapis= Lapis's full name is Lapis Lazuli, but goes by Lapis. She is a not popular but caring misunderstood gem. She is extremely smart but not shy but not talkative.
Not many people are friends with her but her heart can get warmer once in a while. She is actualy pretty athletic.
Peridot= Peridot is a nerd/geek who is sometimes picked on. She is excellent at technology and always thinks she's funny. where she is. She is sometimes a showoff
and likes to talk, but is actually a best friend to Lapis.
Amethyst= Pretty popular but bullied a few times. She is a rowdy, extremely fun gem that alot of people who like to be friends with. She an get over emotional but
is usually nice and very silly, almost always laughing.
Bismuth= Bismuth is a teacher for gym and technology/metal stuff. She is a rough but not strict pretty fun teacher who is athletic and pushes her students to do the
best in academy. She is kind and understanding, but can get emotional to alot of people. She is also very known for her rainbow dreadlocks. (not in the speedpaint but what ev)
White Diamond= One of the strictest teachers. She teaches mainly just math. She pushes you and punishes you for the slightest mistake, but she is very smart and knows
how to teach good. Most dont ppay attention though since she teaches it pretty dull, but that's a bad choice...... (not in the speedpaint but....)
Pink Diamond= She is a very friendly teacher. She teaches reading and science, and talks about them lively since they interest her so much. She also isn't too strict
but will punish, since she just graduated from the school. Her favorite student is Blue diamond, as she does not know she bullies. One sad day, she is murdered. (not in the speedpaint but...)
Holly Blue= Her whole name is Holly Blue Agate, but her nickname is Holly Blue. She is a very strict demanding teacher. She teaches history and always talks proud
and only about the best things that happened. If you disrespect her, she will whip you with her whip. She has been a teacher for about 6 years now. (Not in the speed paint, but....)

Actually, it more of a skin thing than what ever the hell all of you said. She has a problem with the melanin(cant spell ;^;) in her skin, so some patches in her skin might be darker or lighter.

How does one make such a clean sketch and then go straight to lineart from it? OTL It takes me at least 15 layers to go from circles and lines to a decent looking lineart.
Takes a lot of practice. xD
It took me years to get to this point. My sketches used to be suuuuuper messy, and I was very very bad at translating it into lineart... but practice makes perfect. Also Sai has a stabilizer that makes it sooooo much easier.

I thought up a weird story for this AU: the diamonds are the principals of 4 different schools in the home world district. Their pearls are their Vice Principals. Jasper is a transfer student from pink's school, and was transferred to yellow's school after pink ran out of funding. Rose quartz, who used to be a student there, started her own school. The crystal gems, from their various schools, quit and joins rose's school.
Diamonds=Heather's
Rose=senior year
Pearl= crushy junior
Ruby/sapphire=gay couple
Jasper=jock
Pearls= heather jrs
Amethyst= class clown
Lapis= the "angsty" one
Peridot= geek

This is really cute, I love it! And I have to mention that, isn't pearl pink diamond's pearl? I would expected a pink uniform for her. But I don't want to judge your artwork, it just felt like I needed to mention that.
Actually their is no conformation on Pearl's previous owner.
If anything, I personally think it is more likely to be White Diamonds... if a diamond at all.
Look at the two other pearls shown; Blue and yellow both have their gem locations in the same locations of the respective diamonds. So with that pattern in mind, if Pearl's was Pink's, then you would think her pearl would be on her stomach, respective of her diamonds.
The murals we have seen of White diamond on the other hand, show her pearl on her forehead.
That aside, I chose a light blue/teal color because Pearl wears mostly blues, and blushes blue/teal as well.

Wow, I absolutely love these. your designs for the characters are all so great. this really looks like what you'd think there characters would be if they were human. I especially applaud your peridot. in pretty much every single attempt I've seen at making peridot human it hasn't been very good. people often just don't seem to know what to do with her so it doesn't come out looking like her, the only reason you know its peridot is because they said it in the title. Here however, you've done an amazing job. The first human peridot I've seen that I could go, yes, that's definitely peridot.
the only thing I don't really get in this picture is Blue diamond and Blue pearl. You made Blue pearl's hair MUCH more square then it is in the show which could have been a stylistic choice, I just personally don't agree with. And I don't understand why you made Blue diamond look so angry. She's even angrier than Jasper. I just dont get it, Blue diamonds never shown to be angry in the show, the closest we get is her being skeptical which quickly goes away so i really don't get why you made her look so pissed off.
Still, I love all of these designs, your use of colours is amazing and the characters all look perfect and just like themselves.
For me I think the Diamonds,Rose, and Jasper are higher level of High School and The Pearls look like in the range level of High School and The rest are lower level High School students

I imagine yellow diamond as heather McNamara, since she's secretly suffering from depression. I see white diamond as H chandler, and blue then as the green one. Also, I find garnet to be JD, pearl to be Martha and rose as...... VERONICA! But then again since rose is Veronica you could say gregs JD. Ruby and sapphire are definitely ram and Kurt. Peridot looks to me like that hippie teacher, and jasper could function as a some random quarterback
