The Best Battletoads & Double Dragon version! Have the same responsive playability of the NES but more balanced and they improved the graphics. The SNES version have Graphics and Music much more polished but the playability is , weird and the hit detection a pain.

That's because back then people would have threw a fit if they showed her fucked up. That was with most female villains or fighters (see Chun Li and compare to Ryu or Guile)
My favorite version, the SNES has the best graphics and better soundtrack quality, but the Genesis version has better presentation and more atention to detail, like some stages the music pick up speed or the stage change colors, things that the SNES version don't have, and the Genesis version has a better variation of soundtrack like a stage clear theme, a boss theme and etc. also the Genesis version has slightly faster gameplay, with in my opinion it's better.

The demerits, on the other hand, fall on the overall sound quality, the sound effects, and certain tracks are not where they are supposed to be (the selection theme is missing completely, the boss themes and the speed bike theme). The Genesis port had the gameplay speed and the visual graphics are decent. The sound effects sound much sharper than the SNES port, but the smash hits did not have the same audible impact as the 8-bit NES (the loud THWAK). The BGM attempted to follow the 8-bit compositions with the exceptions of the 1st and 2nd stages. This may sound silly to you, but I feel that the 8-bit NES port was more memorable. The visuals were as good as an 8-bit game would get (still leagues behind the 16-bit ports), but the BGM tracks were more dynamic. As inferior as the sound effects were, they were also more dynamic; the finisher smash attacks had the loud THWAK I would associate with a fatal strike. The mechanical glove retreating was much more dynamic than the SNES/Genesis ports. Additionally, the overall franchise had a certain charm to it when it involves delivering the smash attacks. The gameplay would freeze the instant the strike lands for about half a second before it resumes. The sound effect as well as the pausing associated with the strike gave the smash attack a more powerful feel to the game. This pausing effect was completely absent on the 16-bit ports.
And better hit detection. Snes has this weird hit detection, its not bad but its not good either. Though i still only own snes version of this great game but im allways searching mega drive version. Just bought The Battletoads on mega drive, im waiting it to arrive any day. Gonna play the shit out of it and i swear im gonna finish it fair & square some day. Easier said than done since i only have made it to that asteroids type a stage on this one, and this is like 100x easier than the og game. Though this one aint that easy if you compare it against other games, its just easy Battletoads game.

What if the Battletoads were just a couple of regular karate dudes that identified themselves with toads for whatever reason, and Double Dragon was an anthopomorphic kung fu 2-headed dragon?

The SNES and Genesis ports were rushed as hell I'm assuming, but somehow, the Genesis version turned out to be the more complete version with all the music tracks, better hit detection, dynamic shading (that was also in the NES version in Stage 3, but somehow not in the SNES version.), etc.
agree many say the nes the better one but I think ALL three versions are equally great in their own right. These console wars are stupid, why can't we just get along and enjoy all three of them equally.
This is the version of the game just grew up with. I've since played the SNES version and I must say, thus one blows the SNES version away. Granted, the sound quality is better on the SNES, but the music and Sfx were lacking and even the graphics were bland. There was so much gray in the color scheme. I do prefer this version much more.

Agreed. The Genesis may have a slightly better processor than the SNES does, however the SNES kicks its ass in all other specs. I love the Genesis, but the SNES is the best in my opinion.

I grew up with the SNES version and the soundtrack in the Genesis version hurts my ears. But it does play smoother but I can play the SNES version no problem because I got used to it's wonky hit detection.
Music can be good on the console, just a matter of soundfont used, and who does the music. The worst sounding games tend to be western releases that use the GEMS soundfont, that one is a miserable soundfont. Sounds like what they used for this game.

HOLY SHT it was hell for me to finish this i never knew the ship had a homing rocket!!!! wouldve saved me the frustration!
Beat this while game without codes and felt like a true BOSS when I finished. I still got hands in fighting video games.

Dude I love the 8-bit port as well, it's very good and well made, probably this game was supposed to be 8-bit first and then 16-bit, very good.

SNES version, had some music missing (There is no boss theme), and in 5th Level music doesn`t speed-up when fight with bull.

The music on this compared to the NES version is complete hash! Hurts my ears, nasty sound effects too, the NES version was much more enjoyable imho
