My grandfather was a teacher in this valley for almost 20 years during 60s and 70s. Due to lack of roads, he used to go from kupwara to machil (approx 50 km) by foot using shortcut through forests and had many close encounters with bears, leopards etc. And ofcourse snow heights as high as 30 feet near z-gali (10000 feet). He still fondly remembers those days

Even i am kashmiri .we left kashmir due to terroasm in 1990s
