Really cool video!! Love these "hidden" DIY mods. Do you know if this would be possible with the 2021 alloy stumpjumpers? Would be nice to upgrade from 130 to 140 with a shorter yoke. I think it also would be possible to fit a 190x51 shock, and set the flip chip to high. When you bottom out, it shouldn't be very far off from bottoming out with the flip chip at low. Woulndn't dare to do it on the carbon models though, with the new flex link thing.
I ordered a Casade Link.. I was blowing through the travel (Way too Linear Shock Path.. I weigh in @ 165 I have run 250 psi to get the bike to ride like a want.
Did you try a volume reducing spacer? Stupid cheap and reduces the volume for lighter riders. I'm 150lbs and send it pretty hard and havent had any problems but I ride it on mostly trailbike trails not at the bike park or anything. My buddy put the cascade link on his Evo and he loves it though so I doubt you'll be disappointed
Is this for a stump jumper 29 or 27.5 ? I am buying a 2020 stump jumper short travel 130 mm 27.5 with a shock of 190 x 45 tomorrow And was wondering if it uses just a regular shock or the square bottom shock that screws into the yoke. If someone has an answer by tomorrow would be great. Thanks and great video, good information.
What would be the torque for the bolt of where the flip chip is and the torque of the bold that links to the top tube? I tried to take a screenshot when you posted but it was too blurry to see. Thanks
The upper shock mount boot says 10.2 nm in the manual. For some reason I can't find the flip chip bolt torque. It may be the same but prolly safe Goodland the manual and downloading. I cant find my manual at the moment
Have a question. I just bought a used 2019 stunpjumper alloy 27.5 130mm front and back. I want to mullet the bike. Can I just put a 29 fork and wheel on. I was thinking of making the fork 140mm or should I stay with 130mm because the 29 will already be raising the front end.? Thanks.
If it were me I would measure axle to crown on both forks 27.5 and 29 and compare. Then add in an additional 3/4" or 6.5mm to the 29er fork measurement and see where the 2 compare and make a decision from there. If you don't have both forks you can usually find the axle to crown measurements of most forks online.
With the correct shock size and yoke yes. There are different size shocks and yokes that will fit to give you the desired travel you want. Which is all covered in the vid
Has anybody verified, or do you know for sure ( projectnortheast ) that using a ST link with a 190x45 shock results in 130mm of rear travel? Answers would be much appreciated, since I would think that a 140nm fork together with 130 mm rear travel would be a pretty awesome sweet spot.
Yes, it does according to the math. We figured this out while tinkering with it. Not sure what the GEO will be though. I'm very happy with the 140 front and 120 rear. I'm guessing a 130 rear and 150 front would be a hoot.
@@Projectnortheast interesting, thank you very much for the insight and help! I ride the ST model and love it, only issue I found was the stock fox fork rushing through it‘s travel on larger drops which is why I already have exchanged it with a pike. But I am very interested in a „mid-travel“ version since I fear the LT might loose some of the versatility and quirkiness in comparison to the ST.
@@euflor i never rode it in its long travel form so I can't comment on that. In my experience a pike will blow through its travel faster in its stock form without adding tokens vs a fox factory... atleast at my weight of 155 lbs. @@EvanPonton I simply clipped the spacer in the stock shock of my ST, it had the desired effect and is doing a great job ever since ;) So from my side a strong recommendation

why change the yoke and shock? if 190x50 provide the same travel as 210x50 or 200x50... the shock 190x42,5 is internal limited with spacers.. what was the logic in this
To keep the same geo and not bottom the tire to the seat tube. This is the way specialized design the frame to work and this is how the factory ST is done with 120mm rear travel.
hello I have a 2016 carbon 27.5 stumpjumper, currently it has a fox 197 x 48 mm and I acquired the yoke sj02 but I am realizing that apparently it is to reduce the travel and not to increase it which was what I wanted, then that yoke will not work for me sj02 since it says it is for 190 x 50 mm right?
