I want to add something to the “Fake” joycon topic: I do not believe that it will be a white colored controller; Nintendo probably wants that color pallet for the next Oled revision.
Loved how the beginning gave a little behind the scenes of the Friendsgiving episode~ this podcast is like an instant thing that makes me efficient and happy~ thank you so much for making this!!
I just got the SteamDeck 1TB OLED (the white version made me finally pull the trigger) and it cost $735 with tax....so yeah, I will still be paying that off by the time the Nintendo Switch 2 comes out. So if the Switch is $500, first of all, it's not something to blink at, but at least it will still be slightly cheaper than what other PC consoles go for, but two, Nintendo is all about having an affordable competitive price, so I can't see them putting that price unless they do like the Steam Deck did and made the memory size options or LCD or OLED options, which even Valve is getting rid of all their LCD models and bringing in the OLED models but will be keeping the memory option. I don't think it would be crazy for Nintendo to make that a part of their perfecting the Switch, by adding different memory options, and can still have the ability to buy SD cards to add to it, and the highest price would be standard for all the special themed Switches probably.
They are gonna be magnetic, but apparently they will be electromagnetic but with real magnets, so basically you have a normal magnet (permanent magnet) then with an electric current (one time not constant since that would kill battery life) they get switched of, my guess would be flipping the magnet or something, so the magnetic field is displaced. Think Nintendo filed a patent for that, but as we know patent are a long shot, more likely that big button is for leverage, so that when you press it it mechanically moves the magnetic field, for example flipping it, making removing the joycon very easy, then when you release the button it flips back, but that is totally my speculation, and the getting your child’s finger caught problem and stuff like that is big, the first one is a leak saw with the electric current, the mechanical one is my own idea, just clarifying so I don’t put fuel on the already big fake leaks, and he it said so it must be true fire. Great episode Wood, love that you two are one of the few who are critical, and don’t all theory and click bait ”This is the new Switch OMG” category of youtube❤ Edit: The button (or what we are gonna call it) on the bottom is gonna be so uncomfortable, your are gonna feel it so much especially in one joycon mode, saw your talking about it after I commented, and feels weird having that as the demagnetiser, because what if you hold it, you are lucked in to Mario Kart, and baam your Switch drops because your pressed on your switch to hard, I am gonna be scared to hold it, also grips are gonna be hard to make for it I realise, same thing on my New 3DS (not saying this is gonna be called New Nintendo Switch) then it is super easy to press the power button during a Mario Kart race, and then your game is closed, which is a lot of a smaller loss, then a drop test on your switch. Edit again: The button on the bottom I was talking about is the black thing on both joycons, that sit where the IR reader was, theres no way its an IR reader again, and it protrudes ut from the joycon, which was why is speculated about it being the button to detach them.
I didn't consider 'form factor.' I think I've been setting myself up for disappointment, kind of expecting it to be completely, mind-blowingly, different and new, but as they have brought out, Nintendo has found which direction they want to go in. I agree with the Switch paying homage to all their previous gens, from the portability of a Gameboy and 3DS, the sharing with the joycons, the dock provides the home theater of a Wii, and like the Gamecube you can even have the option to play with the Pro controller. So many ways to play games in so many different ways, all in one device. They've already reinvented the wheel in gaming history to the point every other company jumped on the wagon too with the Legion Go, Asus ROG Ally, and Steam Deck. It really is time to perfect it for everything it lacked. I'm not sure how well they will do with sales though, they won't suffer because it's Nintendo, but with it being backwards compatible, a lot of people who already have one won't see the need to upgrade if they already have a Switch in great condition (like me) or if they bought an OLED. Nintendo would need to bring something special to the table, even if it was something that would add to it, like a cutting-edge accessory, nothing like LABO or anything ofc.
They have to do an IR reader if everything is backwards compatible. Also wouldn't you think the new joycons are going to be chunky regardless? Because the new system is going to be chunkier. Joycons are also too small right now.
With regards to the new controller stuff, I remember one of the original "leaks" of the switch 2 had mentioned someone from Nintendo saying they were going to focus on the controller experience, so maybe woods right and it will become like a mouse or something, I think people are forgetting that old leak, Nintendo could be doing something WILD with the new controllers
Sometimes the 'blurry' photo from the leaked photos, if it's real, is that the person recording it is doing a video capture, and that's a grabbed frame.
Talking about the display tech with such an amount of _lack_ of information felt a bit... Unwarranted. You can get really, really good LCD screens nowadays, and you still can get really crappy OLED screens. When the Switch (1) OLED came out, it was quite the marvellous screen, and so much better than the older Switch's screen or the Switch Lite's screen. The Switch 2 can come out with a really good LCD one. It'd still be cheaper to build than with a really good OLED one. And I'd rather have a good LCD than a crappy OLED.
Love the Friendsgiving reflections - gratitude is so important for any kind of joy in life and being able to sit in that gratitude is lovely to see on anyone.
The extra button on the backside of the controllers look like the paddle buttons you would find on higher end controllers on the underside. Similar to the X-Box Elite / Elite 2, the Sony Edge or even the Guilikit 3
As a usually audio only listener. I'm game for more prerecorded/more edited podcasts. Live has energy, but if doing more remote or prerecorded podcasts gets more guests and fun interactions, I'm game.
What if the new “capture button” is actually a magnetic release? Considering security, I’m not sure if regular magnets would be strong enough to hold the switch. I believe they might use electromagnets, which would release easily when you press the button.
what if the new joycons have the same sort of rail attachment with the wristband, but these come with another trigger on one side to balance the new trigger on the joycons...?
Happy to have ham back 😊 great episode this week. I’m hoping these are fake because it’s just honestly not what I wanted to see. Even if it does run better, I would have a hard time buying a console that looks exactly like the one I have but with a few new bells and whistles. I just can’t justify that kind of purchase in my life currently, and even if I could I would want to wait until a special edition like my animal crossing switch came out anyway. Here’s hoping it could still be a bit more unique/special

I wonder how much Nintendo considers form factor in how they design their controllers in relation to third-party companies making accessories to hold the switch as a controller and also controller accessories for joy cons. I bet some degree would like to. Make more money by designing a non-ergonomic joy and then sell you an ergonomic joy con holder.
The only reason that video would make sense is if the person has an android phone and sent pics and videos to an iPhone then the quality would be substantially downgraded. It’s very realistic for it to be like this in that case. Or if the video was sent email same thing.
These "leaks" are so meaningless. If its an early prototype that means very little in the grand scheme of things. The internet needs to, as always, calm down. Maybe the internet is mostly young these days and they just haven't experienced 40 years of consoles at this point. Or maybe Im just old and bitter now.

I knew what Summer Solstice was technically (in regards to the longes day) but not that we classify that as the actual start of the summer in terms of actual seasons. Maybe I missed that point in School. Or maybe Ive just been playing too many video games over the year where June July and August are often depicted as the summer.
Why does eveyone have this weird logic about ufo pictures? go take a picture of a frisby flying through the air and I assure you it wont be some flawless high rez detailed photo, its going to be a blurry mess. Same thing applies to random flying objects. Iphone 16 or not your focus aint that good.
I used to watch wood all the time but after him putting switch 2 in a lot of his videos it used to get me to watch videos . But now it’s just getting old and just annoying. I love wood but the switch 2 content is over done on his channel.

Playstation 4 performance is most likely out of a they can do it perspective, PS5 and Xbox Series X or S is impossible, it will be power and thermally limited, it just is impossible, unless the dock has some crazy upscaling and fram generation hardware or something, and steam deck performance is gonna be hard, since they sell at a loss at like 500-600$, so the console cost more like 800-1000$ for valve to make, nintendo will be selling at a big loss, but they do have the eshop and you buy a nintendo console for their games, so they can do it, but maybe games will get more expensive, which is very fair to them but not desirable for us haha.
Wood I love you but you should really take a trip to "3rd world" countries (i hate this term). Everybody there has crapy cheap phones and all photos/videos are blurry. That means most people on earth in fact don't have access to the luxury we/you do in terms of 1k+ phones. Like in most those countries the average monthky salary is the equivalent to 200$. Just keeping it real bro... I still do think the leak is fake, looks too chunky

Please, I need someone to tell me if Lego Fortnite is any good. As builder games go, the building is most like Dragon Quest Builders without digging. Resource gathering is more like Fortnite. The mission rewards, updates and customization make up for lack of terrain modification. Is it good or am I just happy with the Epic Trilogy? With battle royale Fortnite, racing with Fortnite Rocket Racing and building with Lego Fortnite, I’m good. My gaming bases 🏟️ are covered. Epic wins, my favorite games are free to play, but I still paid for Fortnite Crew. Why? Because it makes me happy to support something I enjoy, even if I don’t actually own it.

I still think the buttons on the joy cons and going to swap-able. Like they will magnetize to the controller and you can customize it.

No oled is a bummer, but look at the lenovo legion go. We could get a nice LCD screen, but it's Nintendo, so we might not even get that, lol
