      No problem! I was watching it back myself at the weekend to try and pick the lines back up 😅

    I'm racing at Croft next week in a saloon car. It was really interesting to see a bike riders perspective - particularly your commentary on kerbs and bumps. Looks terrifying on a bike. Respect - and thanks for the video.

    There doesn't look like there is a lot of run off or room to slide just lots of things to bounce off at Croft, not far off what you find on the road just no on coming traffic 👍

    I'm at Croft next Thursday so fantastic timing releasing this guide Tommy.
    Then its Anglesey for a couple of days then hopefully Caldwell. There are track guides for Caldwell but i cannot find anything for Anglesey. Do Anglesey and corner the market!!

    • @TommyFielding
      @TommyFielding  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideal! Glad you will get some use from it so soon. Racing at anglesey next so that will probably be the next one, although just the coastal layout

      @TommyFielding absolutely great thanks! Anglesey is amazing. I struggled to get my head round how much you can push on the banked corner. Every time, it felt too fast going in then the realisation that I was nowhere near the limit would hit! Loved the track and will be going back.

      @@johnellison2078 yeah you can brake sooo deep into that corner and there always seems to be more left 😆 glad you had a good time bud

    Great presentation, much more use than hours of track day footage. I used to race at Croft, with much less power and less sophisticated chassis and tyres. I used a different line around Tower. The track going in is much wider than the track coming out. As you say in your presentation it is a late apex, I used an imaginary apex a few feet into the track from around where the kerb markers are. This meant braking comparatively later, turning in later but harder and getting on the power before you reach the actual apex you describe. Exit speed was the only consideration, we were flat out through the esses and Barcroft (just). I wish there were videos like this back in the day, The old circuit had a sequence from the back straight to the chicane that I never, ever was happy with, despite many race meetings and "machine testing" days.

    • @TommyFielding
      @TommyFielding  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much for the comment John. Was it the circuit with the railway straight? I know the layout but obviously haven’t ridden it 😄 maybe it explains why on some of my faster laps I ‘missed’ the apex at tower. There is a bump at the apex too which reaches about 2ft into the track

    • @johnbrewer8954
      @johnbrewer8954 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TommyFielding You compete at a higher level than I did and bikes are different now but maybe worth a try in practice against the clock. Tower "sucks you in" to tacking right across the track, even though it is a late apex.

      Thanks for the comment matey! As you say I have plenty of donington footage so would be easy for me to make a track guide. I might add it to the list….it’s just having the time to do all these things 😅

      I will do my best to keep a note of it 👌 probably won’t be re-doing this video though. I have full race vids available from croft on my channel. I take the hairpin in 1st gear so should be easy enough to write it down on a track map etc if you wanted to :)

    Brilliant vid mate!! really useful (especially because you ride an R6). what lap timer do you use? A Cadwell vid would be great, I feel its my strongest track so would love so see how you get round it so fast. keep up the good work and good luck for the rest of the season.

    A reasonably good pace ? Yikes , that is a very good pace, you are too modest . 1.30s is a decent pace around there for a trackday rider in the fast group. Great explanation of all the points needed to improve your lap times , and shows that at Croft at least , you dont need a 200bhp+ superbike to lap quickly

    • @TommyFielding
      @TommyFielding  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks very much :) always feel like I have an advantage racing at Croft because it’s my local even though I haven’t done too much around there. Do you do trackdays there?

    • @paulmac63
      @paulmac63 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used to but I have a few health issues that stopped me doing track days . Croft was my local as well , my friend Colin used to run track days there with Joe Joe's bike breakers , all the BSB lads used to turn up when it was part of the BSB calender . Such a shame they lost all those days a few years ago , croft so much more interesting than Brands Indy imo . My mate could run a 1.27 on a 2003 GSXR600 and I thought that was fast . Joe Burns I think was around 1.25-26 s iirc . I was happy if I dipped under 1.40 which I did on a FZR400 with a 600 engine fitted . Great memories of Croft though 😎🙂🙂
