    Spent much of my life growing up in Norfolk and visited Norwich regularly until my parents moved away several years ago. I went with my now wife there a few years ago including to the castle and cathedral which I hadn’t visited in years prior to that occasion. Bought back many good memories and made me appreciate it more.

      Well hopefully you'll enjoy my upcoming video which tells the history of Norfolk through it's many ruined churches. Will be posting on new years eve :)

    Many thanks, Alex! I used to live nearby, and would often visit the cathedral. I miss Norwich, and maybe one day I'll make it back there. Other than the churches I miss the pubs too.

      Much appreciated, and yes there a lot of decent pubs in Norwich with plenty atmosphere. Hopefully you can get back to Norwich one day soon!

      Omg same!! I had the privilege of living in Norwich a year ago when I had a semester abroad at UEA.
      I miss the churches so much. And yes, the pubs. The Belgian light beer I had at the Belgian Monk was truly something.
      I wish I could return one day and show the city to the people I love

    Thanks for your informative video. It's interesting that Norwich doesn't have the fame of some other English cathedrals I guess because it's not as grand as for instance York or Durham but it's unquestionably one of the most beautiful of all. As an architectural historian, I particularly like the large extent of Romanesque which you don't find in many other cathedrals.

    • @AlexTheHistoryGuy
      @AlexTheHistoryGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Yeah i believe it may be because many other cathedrals were commonly updated to reflect the latest architectural trends, which Norwich did too, but mostly with its churches, not the cathedral as much. I dunno haha

There is so much history to be discovered around the city and some very interesting local people, least of all the obvious ' national hero ' Horatio Nelson... I am looking forward to seeing more and learning more about my home city... Thanks for sharing!

    This is so beautiful tour of the Cathedral. The first background music is ok, but almost at the end it is too loud to listen the voice, witch is a shame, I was disappointed no to be able to finish the tour! But thank you so much for this interesting information. I live in Norwich and been in the Cathedral many time before, but I need to go again to appreciate the points you have mention. Congratulation for your hard work.

      I would genuinely love to. I was discussing getting set up with a local tour company but the money wasn't worth me taking time out to organise it all. I also recently moved away from Norwich to start an Armoury Apprenticeship so I only come back to Norwich every few months to see friends and family. I do want to do my own history tours around historic sites of Britain one day though!
