Since posting this vid I'm hearing that the info on levels isn't quite right. Still yet to confirm, but what I'm hearing is you can level Gen R variants by 100 now! And if that's the case, this makes this vid even more important to watch!

Will there be a video that incorporated the gen-r potential damage resistance. I feel their lower health may be present to counter balance their potential damage resistance.
@@LeoTheYuty Gasbags are mostly useful for soaking (so more health is better and R-Variants have less health), and carrying a lot of weight. Since they don't really get used for active combat damage isn't a stat that's very important on them so having a variant with slightly more damage and less health isn't really helpful.
dinos in abberation have naturally 4% reduction in health so if these variants spawn in an ab like zone, it could apply to them as they do in regular ab
Can you do a variant video with every variant including abberation and clear up whether you can take these variants to boss fights from the island through to gen2 for new players or returning players with clusters that want to play the story through. For example dire polar bears can be used on rag and valgeura but because they aren't native to the island can't be transferred there for tames I'm sure everyone would appreciate it
Level cap has been increased to 88 from 73 on all the creatures. Damage increase is a 5% multiplicative increase on all output, and is not reflected by stats.
I thought that X-creatures had a 40% damage reduction while tamed 😢,but still,i already tamed a bunch of X-spinos and mutated them and put ascendent saddles, so i wont complain.

I'm sorry every one that i might have put out some bad info about the gen-r reaper getting it's jump replaced with a roar. But on PS4 I tried jumping but it does nothing and from what I have seen on PC you are able to jump with the gen-r reaper. So does anyone know what is going on with it?
off topic but have you messed with the strider much? I seem to have issues useing it's transfer to dedicated storage functions,it crashes the game every time.wondering if this is happening to other folks
@@Raasclark k when you dig into it take a look at that function,see if it's giving you issues or if it's just a one off with my Xbox one.its recently referbed,and on the higher end of the Xbox ones,so I don't think it's my console.and the crash happens consistently when I use that feature of the strider.but aside from that,I kinda like em.i did a small turret build on one with the harvester tool,and the shield,and it came together pretty good for a pve harvester that can defend itself.wasnt to jazzed over the other attachments,and also found they can't be unequipped as far as I saw.bit slow,as I'd expect but for what it is,that's not a terrible trade off.still haven't looked at the link to dedicated storage,as the transfer crashes me,I assume linking to em might as well.maybe it is just an update that really needs a high end PC.idk.they added alot of complex stuff,something was bound to break lol

@@Raasclark I’ve done some in game testing and it from my research they do need extra shots. I knocked a level 50 R-Giga, the Dododex said I needed 29 shots but I needed to hit it with 50 shots. My longneck does 311.1% damage and I was using shocking tranqs.

Unlike X-Creatures, wild R-Creatures do not possess any damage resistance or increase. However, tamed R-Creatures can be levelled up to 100 times and gain 15 times experience from killing alphas." Edit : they removed it from the wiki . it was probably a bug or something ? HOWEVER you can level them up to 88 and more with mutagens , but so you can do with other normal NON bred dinos too

It kinda wasn't hard to figure out the 5% damage bonus number when the lvl 1 giga was doing 80 and the variant was doing 84. :P It wasn't all bad, the reaper spit exception, the dino previews, and the giga test were perfectly fine inclusions. It's just that the video didn't actually answer its own question since it didn't answer "Do the extra levels make up for the hp penalty?" It wouldn't have hurt either if an extra minute or two was spent on showcasing some color patterns. I don't personally care about this last bit but the demographic of folks that do isn't exactly small. Though as a general tip/rule of thumb: If you can't make a point in 2-5 minutes, it either needs a deep dive or you're not being concise enough for the average viewer since they will skip around and hurt your channel's standing with the youtube algorithm(apparently it doesn't like folks blitzing through videos). Edit: To make things easier if you opt to do this, look into a mod called "Upgrade my Dino". It'll let you tweak wild stats so you can do 1:1 comparisons instead of having to juggle "close enough" math. :)
They got this giga line on like 3 years so if they want same melee on R they will need example 3 year and on it the normal giga will be x2 rn i suggest using r gigas on unoffi

I agree for certain creatures, a Stego or Gasbag greatly benefits with massive HP rather than melee. Edit: But also I see melee being more beneficial, like for Gigas and imo Megatheriums
The people on my server have been breeding Giga's for a long time. My Giga's currently hatch with 850 melee. After 100% imprint and levels the melee goes over 1,500. I imagine that the the new Giga variants will hit harder in time. After a lot of generations they will be monster's. (Really good looking monster's!)

The next question would be that does the additional 15 levels out way the 3% reduction in health for a soaker for example does a r quetz what has 88 points into health have more than a regular quetz with 73 points into health
Definitely, if you had ridiculous base hp of even 40k hp the r version would only be 1200 hp down. (or a 300 hp defecit for every 10k hp) Which 15 levels can easily account for depending on what type of server you're on. I know nothing about official stats.
Raasclark, DPS is measured by bitting the dummy for some seconds. The Damage per attack is something different. So for the next Video: DPS per Bite doesn't exist. The difference is, that attack speed effects DPS but not Damage per Bite It's either DPS or Damage per Bite. NOT both at the same time. A small but very important change U need to do, if the "math" stuff should actually be based on correct facts. It's a common but very nasty mistake ppl make. Besides this: A very good video.
@@Raasclark in the game "Dauntless" the weapons use different heavy and light attacks. Some of them get very quickly to 5000 DPS but get down to 2000-3000 because of the slow attack speed. Other fast weapons take some time to get to their 2000-3000 DPS. 5 hits x 5000 dmg over 6 seconds = 4166 DPS and 0,83 hits per second. 5 hits x 5000 dmg over 5 seconds = 5000 DPS and 1 hit per second. 5 hits x 5000 dmg over 4 seconds = 6250 DPS and 1,25 hits per second. The DPS meter would show in every example 5000 DPS, if the person only attacked once. Hope this helps U to understand it a bid better. Examples often help. Even the best.
You can not raise the hp of a giga via leveling up (or very little), so that health loss is unrecoverable, while you can always pump up a vanilla's giga melee by adding some extra mutations... so I feel the R variant is not as good apart from esthetics
The less health is Not a think on official because x and r creatures can Go to lvl 500 and normal only to 450. So you can get some mutations in hp and of course the difference in lvling normal 73 and x r 88 so all are better the normal creatures are just gar away with breeding and it will Take some time to Catch Up with r and x creatures. And r reaper are insane because you have 15 lvl more to put in a perfect r reaper with mutgen can reach lvl 333

@@silas7854 it is new. The wiki also says something about killing alphas. Might be a special condition or a bug.
Note that the R variant is easier to tame as wild dont seem to have the damage resistance

Gen R variants are easier to get than gen X for: all large carnivores, snow owls, gasbags, and a few others that I can't remember the names of

The next question would be that does the additional 15 levels out way the 3% reduction in health for a soaker for example does a r quetz what has 88 points into health have more than a regular quetz with 73 points into health
Definitely, if you had ridiculous base hp of even 40k hp the r version would only be 1200 hp down. (or a 300 hp defecit for every 10k hp) Which 15 levels can easily account for depending on what type of server you're on. I know nothing about official stats.
Raasclark, DPS is measured by bitting the dummy for some seconds. The Damage per attack is something different. So for the next Video:
DPS per Bite doesn't exist. The difference is, that attack speed effects DPS but not Damage per Bite
It's either DPS or Damage per Bite. NOT both at the same time.
A small but very important change U need to do, if the "math" stuff should actually be based on correct facts.
It's a common but very nasty mistake ppl make.

@@Raasclark in the game "Dauntless" the weapons use different heavy and light attacks. Some of them get very quickly to 5000 DPS but get down to 2000-3000 because of the slow attack speed. Other fast weapons take some time to get to their 2000-3000 DPS.
5 hits x 5000 dmg over 6 seconds = 4166 DPS and 0,83 hits per second.
5 hits x 5000 dmg over 5 seconds = 5000 DPS and 1 hit per second.
5 hits x 5000 dmg over 4 seconds = 6250 DPS and 1,25 hits per second.
The DPS meter would show in every example 5000 DPS, if the person only attacked once.

It’s dumb how weak r gigas is compared to gigas. Top stats for r gigas are 600 melee. And top stats for gigas are 1200 melee.

You can not raise the hp of a giga via leveling up (or very little), so that health loss is unrecoverable, while you can always pump up a vanilla's giga melee by adding some extra mutations... so I feel the R variant is not as good apart from esthetics
Dps is better because the idea is to kill faster than you take damage, an enraged giga in a giga fight is a dead one

The less health is Not a think on official because x and r creatures can Go to lvl 500 and normal only to 450. So you can get some mutations in hp and of course the difference in lvling normal 73 and x r 88 so all are better the normal creatures are just gar away with breeding and it will Take some time to Catch Up with r and x creatures. And r reaper are insane because you have 15 lvl more to put in a perfect r reaper with mutgen can reach lvl 333
