The fact that they named their order in respect to the species who mentored them and gave them shelter was pretty wholesome. Expect for their purpose.

So basically the sith would have never become so bad had the Jedi simply invited the theological implications of the original teachings back into the order which is actually the teaching that gives balance to the force naturally, the light side simply makes dogmatism and authoritarian regimes while all dark side makes tyrannical overlords and hedonism.
In reality both are true and the lie is they both are by nature fully seperate, they both intertwine with each other and people like Anakin and his pupil and other such ones like the academia Jedi heretic learned this and tried to prevent the Jedi from causing the force imbalance to create their natural countermeasure/nemesis to punish their abuse of the force.
Makes sense with a lot of the lore.

I think I get why the darkside is just as important as the light side
If the light side got it's way knowledge would be come restrictive yes the galaxy would theoretically be peaceful but there would no more free thinking or much of individual freedom which is why the light side needs the darkside to keep it in check

There is no dark side, nor a light side
    There is only the force
I will do what I must to keep the balance
The balance is what keeps me together
There is no good without evil, but evil must not be allowed to flourish
    There is passion, yet emotion
    Serenity, yet peace
    Chaos, yet order
I am the wielder of the flame, the protector of balance
I am the holder of the torch, lighting the way

What always confused be was that anikan was prophesied by the Jedi to bring balance to the force, which is what he did by joining the dark side, right? Why then was obi wan so angry. Why did he want balance if the jedi are so one sided to the 'light side"

    • @jrrizzy5579
      @jrrizzy5579 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@sledge2742 just off the top of my head id say that the Jedi interpreted the prophecy more as bringing “peace” instead of “balance.” Like Anakin would lock away or destroy the dark side and help the light thrive or something along those lines. I feel like if they realized the force was largely weighed in their favor they may have seen the “chosen one” as a threat lol. Obi Wan though I think his anger stemmed more from the betrayal he felt and loss of a connection to his once apprentice and someone he loved like a brother.

@@sledge2742 I thought so before as well, but now I have learned why thinking like that is incorrect. Legends has great stories but it really got the jedi and the force wrong.
Balance is light exclusively. The dark is imbalance. Anakin fulfilled the prophecy when he killed Palpatine and thereby destroyed the sith. That is why the sequels can't be cannon because it brakes the prophecy by bringing Palpatine back. The same goes for dark empire.
While the dark side can never be totally purged and among regular life it needs to exist. But if a force user uses even a smudge of dark side that is imbalance.
That is why the jedi reacted correctly when banning all dark side stuff.

@@grandadmiralthrawn3164 incorrect, Anakin brought balance to the force by destroying both the sith & jedi orders.
their time as religious dogmatic regimes is over.
its like having two blocked weights on a scale, when both are present they are in balance with one another.
the problem is that there was way too many jedi, too few sith.
so the force decided to eradicate both parties since destroying only one would leave an imbalance of power.
no light & no dark= perfect balance.
the death of the old orders allowed new ones untouched by old dogma's & grievances to grow.

Same with anakin. I think the Sith being evil now is 100% Jedi fault
