  • We highly recommend adding a Camco Cyclone to your RV sewer vent. We have had a Camco Cyclone sitting in our RV storage for a while. We had been meaning to install it on the RV sewer vent to see if it would help the black tank stink from backing up into the camper. This video shows our Camco Cyclone install.
After Babe broke the air vent cover for the black tank, when he was resealing the RV roof, he finally installed it to fix the hole. We we're skeptical if it would actually work to help with the occasional poop smell inside the camper, but figured even if it didn't we at least sealed the roof from leaking. Thankfully it has actually helped with the smell!! Here's our quick and easy install process.
    Products used:
    Camco Cyclone {currently $22.81}- amzn.to/3hfo7ds
    Dicor Lap Sealant {currently $11}- amzn.to/2RFaBVL
FlexSeal Rubber Liquid {price varied by size}- amzn.to/3f6agDt

Raise your hand if you hate the black tank backup smell too! Have you tried a cyclone?

lol!! No, still holding on strong :) Having the lap sealant over it helps too.

I've noticed that there is a pretty substantial space around the vent, usually exposing the roofing plywood, on the majority of these install videos. Retrospectively, would you think it reasonable to apply a little spray foam or flex seal spray to this area?

A little extra protection never hurts, we just didn't think it necessary though since everything is sealed with the cover and additional lap sealant. But You could definitely always add more for protection.
