What I loved about the US is that they fought like mad on everything. They were shaky on beam and all three - Kyla, Alyssa and Simone - could have easily fallen off, and had they been less disciplined and determined, they would have. Physical strength aside, it's the mental strength that helps set the them apart. Not that it always works, but it weathers them while other teams become more demoralized when they make mistakes.
Whoever mixed the sound for this video really should have lowered the floor music and raised the commentators, you can barely hear them. But I still love seeing Kyla Ross competing after the 2012 Olympics. I really hope she can hold on and make it to Rio in 2016.
I'm starting to get tired of watching laid out yurchenkos, no matter how many twists they add. I mean, I'm not saying it's not amazing. I'm just craving a little more variety.
@@kennatheswiftie2359 Samee I hope people bring more variety. There's other vault that are difficult that gymnasts can do like the one alicia sacramone used to do. The double pike is a breath of fresh air. Still shocked she learned it since she said she would never do the produnova but the double pike is harder lol
I've warmed up a little to Shang's routine. It's different and striking, and while she is not the most musically attuned or charismatic, she makes it work for the most part. It's better than last year's effort. Love the one and a half step out through to triple-punch front. The fact that Shang is China's strongest floor worker at the moment does not bode well. I know they have the talented Wang Yan, who will turn senior next year, but she is only one girl. I'm tired of seeing the Chinese gymnasts so weak on vault and floor, as well as being wildly inconsistent everywhere. I want to see a more complete Chinese program, not just bars and beam; this means more FX/VT specialists and more true AAers who are consistent.
Ky Penn I agree! They excel on bars with all of their gymnasts capable of scoring in the mid to high 15's. Their beams they need to be more consistent, but beautiful and difficult nonetheless. In terms of Vault and floor, they need an Amanar along with Wang Yan's Rudi (it would be nice if she can pull off the 2.5 Tsukahara that is rumoured) in order to be competitive with the US. Floor they need a tumbler point blank. They need someone who can pull off F or G difficulty tumbles like Simone. If they can achieve this, then they will surely give the U.S. a run for their money.
Ricci Kawa Yup! You are right. Hopefully Shang Chunsong will put that rumored quadruple twist in to her routine to bring her D-score up to 6.5. I also know Shang is capable of a double layout pass which is an F. If they get the 2.5 Tsuk, then screw an Amanar lol.
I love their bars and beam work, but I completely agree. I mean, they have bars and beam down, but they need to work on vault and floor if they want to medal in Rio.
+Ky Penn Except that neither the Russians or Chinese are very consistent, at this rate I wouldn't be surprised to see a Romanian medal in bars -__- Just a thought.
I really appreciate how these announcers actually explain the rules and requirements for each apparatus when the gymnasts are performing- I'm sure MOST people watching already know these things- but for a lot of people, people like myself- who love watching this sport but don't really KNOW a ton about it- it's nice to hear explanations sometimes instead of JUST straight critiques & praises or negative remarks... Like how they explain "it's required to include 1 turning element, 1 front grip, 1 backwards grip... A step this size is .1, or this size is .3, she didn't connect that so shell lose that element..." I've been probably LEARNED more about women's gymnastics from watching just 2 or 3 of these competitions covered by British commentators than I have in the last 2 YEARS of watching coverage from the Americans! (I mean I AM an American- and I know how redundant and annoying it CAN get when watching coverage of a sport u already know pretty much EVERYTHING about when they repeatedly talk about the rules or requirements as if NO ONE watching has a damn clue what's going on!) But, it's definitely nice and helpful to OCCASIONALLY hear things like this for people like ME!
Who is the little Chinese girl who hugged Aliya Mustafina at the end? That was adorable. Also, if you stood one of the Chinese girls on the shoulders of another, I think the two together still might be shorter than Kyla Ross.
I am a huge fan of Makamuri's floor! She can contend for an EF if she keeps performing like she is! I mean its no Simone Biles or Larisa Iordache, but still, I would love to see her in a final.
I don't know if she was injured, but she usually does a double layout in her FX routine, making her even MORE of a contender. P.S. she was 4th at 2013 wc on floor :p
+Ricardo Neto I like Ferarri's routines, but how many years has she now been performing to that groaning woman music? Four? Five? More? Yikes. One would think she could find something else.
I’m pretty sure it was because she was getting over some small injury issues and was taking it a bit easier. She brought it back for Rio- and won gold number TWO.
@@loridunevant6973she was actually under the weather in these championships yes. A sign of a tough athlete, being able to forge through in spite of not feeling her best (WITHOUT COLD MEDICINE!)
Aliya was sick here and if I remember correctly, she was also sick for World's 2013. Is she OK?? I really hope so, she's my favorite gymnast. The poor girl always looks so exhausted. Take a rest my dear, we need you in Rio too!
Kae Kae Jones so true! She has been their anchor, their coach and support system and all the while keeping her own self up to par. I love my USA team but have the utmost respect for aliya. She deserved a rest and better coaching and trainers!!
Joann Hilton A couple of years ago, there was a video on here which a Russian "journalist" posted showing the workouts and practices of the Russian gymnastic team. I stumbled across it by accident!! It was really interesting because it included comments by some of the younger members of the team --translated of course. The coach was interviewed toward the end as well, with English translation. He said the girls on the team are most cooperative and work hard, except a couple of them have status issues. He basically said that Aliya does what she wants, when she wants and for as long as she wants. Since she is the best of the bunch, and very "independent," she gets privileges the others do not and has to be treated "special." He said she was "like a daughter" to him. I looked high and low for that video for several days so I could post it for you to see, but I'm beginning to bet that it was removed since then because it might have been a tad too frank and revealing. Don't get me wrong. I love watching her. I suspect, though, from his comments that she is somewhat of the team prima donna.
So you basically regret that one of the most decorated Russian gymnast might have a word on her training? Too bad she doesn't obey like a soldier as if she knew nothing of the sport she spent almost her whole life practicing?
I have to disagree. I think that in order to qualify for the team finals at worlds a team has to be good. Great Britain isn't as powerful as the US or as clean as Russia but they do some pretty difficult stuff, as all the girls in this competition. And I'm not even British. ;)
I thought they were kind of rude actually. Even though Great Brittan really did quite well gymnastic wise. But I thought the comments were rude such as 'oh that was an okay routine for the American's but not their best one' or 'that was okay for the Russians on the bars, but not that great.' Yeah really don't remember hearing that about anything their team did...
I've listened to quite a few gymnastics commentators over the years and this duo, Mitch Fenner and Christine Still, from the BBC are by far the fairest when it comes to how they talk about the gymnasts from countries other than their own. Yes, they cheer for the British gymnast a little more than the other but I think that that is to be expected. The still say positive things about each gymnast and explain the gymnastics we are seeing. The worst commentators are the NBC team of Tim Daggett, Elfi Schlegel, and Al Trautwig. They are just plain mean to the non-American gymnasts and say awful gossip-y things about them. I'm American but often I won't watch competitions when they air on TV and instead wait for someone to post the BBC coverage here on TH-cam even if it means I have to wait longer to watch it. (Although I did really like Shannon Miller commentating the live coverage this past Olympics) I highly recommend this article from Deadspin deadspin.com/5931440/fake-jingoistic-and-stupid-gymnastics-coverage-is-the-worst-part-of-nbcs-olympics
malluu3 I agree with you--but for more than one reason. I resent how they chop up the coverage and spread two parts of it, sometimes over a couple of weeks, and don't offer full coverage or fair coverage of all the competitors. They do the same thing with figure skating coverage--have one part, about an hour's worth, then schedule the other "half" two or three weeks later, and schedule it during the day, rather than at prime time where someone who works for a living (on weekends) can watch it. And that is, if they have it at all. Infuriating.
Lmfao. Sooo true- and I can relate WAY more than I'd like to even admit!! Ive been riding horses & competing in dressage, show jumping & mainly 3 Day Eventing with my horses for almost 25yrs- I'm 32 now- and so of course, I have TONS of Incredible professional photographs of me& my horses competing (as well as a good number of great ametuer photographer's I DIDN'T have to pay $20+ for ONE 8X10 photo from or close to $100 for an entire CD of about 20-30 pics from one single 3 day show, gag!) framed and displayed all over my room & house- most of which are 8x10 or maybe set 5x7s but a few of the really amazing ones ive had blown up to poster size & framed... And when I/other horse people look at an action shot of someone riding- u rarely even NOTICE the rider's face- the first thing you'll look at is how the horse looks- what position it's in over the jump in the air, how nice it's knees& feet at tucked up& how high over the fence it's jumping& clearing it- or in dressage, how nicely it's neck is arched and it's hind end is underneath it & it's not on its forehand- the extension & "flipping out" of it's front hooves during a lengthening movement... Youll also look at the rider's BODY position- nobody really wants a photo of themselves when their horse looks great, but THEIR position SUCKS & It's embarrassing & cringe worthy to look at time & time again if your seat , legs, hand etc are in TERRIBLE positions... But man, especially on cross country- where you're BOUND to have at least a couple of hairy moments when you're galloping 20+mph over 2-3miles over 20-30 big jumps that don't budge if you touch them... And I guess it's LUCKY we have to wear our helmets cuz it makes it a lot harder to see the RIDICULOUS LOOKS & EXPRESSIONS on riders faces sometimes over the jumps! I know I personally talked to my horse pretty much the entire way around the course too- more for my own nerves than for my horses' benefit, haha. So in almost ALL of my pictures, my mouth is open and I look like a total idiot. And half the time, in the air over a big jump or a big drop down a bank or into the water- your facial expression tends to read: "OH GOD WERE GONNA DIIIIE!!!" But, a riders God awful facial expression is the LAST thing we ever notice when looking at our photos... People who aren't "horsey people" will look at my photos & of course the first thing THEY look at IS MY FACE & they'll be like "hahaha, omg WHY would u FRAME THAT?!" and I'm like "what do you MEAN?! LOOK HOW PERFECT ATTICUS'S KNEES ARE OVER THAT JUMP! And my leg is damn near perfect- look at my hands- that's a DEFINITION beautiful crest-release!" "Yeah but... Look at your FACE!!! HAHHAAHA!" ....Shut up lol. I bet gymnasts think similarly when watching themselves on video or in photos- they probably look at their body positioning & the LAST thing they'll look at or notice is the stupid look on their face!! Hahha
I love Huidan's bars, but did the British commentators even address the split legs on the Pak Salto? If they did, I must have missed it, because I didn't hear anything.
Does anyone else find it a tad depressing that everyone is so far behind the US? This isn't even the best team they could have fielded. This is mid-quad, which is always a bit of a slump for most nations, but still....nearly seven points ahead of China. As cool as it is to see one country dominate a la Soviet Union, it's even cooler when there is a tight international competition. I'm sure next year, when everyone is going to get fresh blood, will be more competitive team wise.
I don't, because I fully expect everyone to be much more competitive next year. Wang Yan will be a huge help for China, and Deng Yalan will also be a good addition (she does turn senior next year, correct? Information on the Chinese is always hard to come by) and will help vaulting A LOT. Iridon and Jurca will brig a breath of fresh air for Romania, and hopefully Bulimar will be able to make it to Worlds next year. Their bars should be far less dire. Russia- well, they have some upcoming talent (Seda!!) but they really need to start conditioning their athletes. The Rods need to go, like, two years ago. Great Britain should also definitely be strongly in the hunt for a medal next year and Rio- I can't wait to see what Ellie and co. bring! Brazil won't be in medal contention unless everyone starts imploding, but Rebeca and Flavia are really going to help boost their scores. Basically, I can't wait for the team finals for the next two years!
hpobsessor1 As I said, it _is_ a mid-quad slump, but the other teams could have put up more of a fight and assessing their performances just on their own, they leave a lot to be desired. Next year will undoubtedly be better for all concerned, with fresh blood filling out depleted ranks. But that also means the US is going to be _even_ better, with strong established seniors and talented newly turned seniors. At the very least though the other teams will be more competitive, I've already had my eye on all the juniors you've mentioned for a while now, plus many of the American juniors. And yes, the Russian girls need better training methods and more conditioning. In spite of chronic depth issues, they don't lack the talent as much as they lack an efficient approach.
withlove312 Yeah, I definitely think a lot of the teams could have done better than they did, but this definitely helped a lot of gymnasts gain experience which will help them in the next years.
Then if they do, it won't get named after either of them. Maroney seems more capable of a TTY than Biles because she gets so much air time and it just looks like all she needs to do is twist a tiny bit more and get the triple round. If Simone gets consistent with the Cheng, she doesn't even need a triple unless Maroney also does the Cheng...She already does the Mustafina which is just 1/2 less than the Cheng.
Joann Hilton I know. I know Maroney Is definitely capable of the Triple TY. but not sure about Biles. Biles doesn't seem to get the height that Maroney does. but I heard they are both looking at doing the Cheng vault as their second
lifeworksat20 the big problem with Maroney, is I am not even sure she will be in Rio. They already have a vaulter who can get the gold. If Maroney can't get her AA together, she won't be in Rio.
Ky Penn I have to say, Im afraid you might be right. Biles has nailed all her competitions (except the American Cup in 2013 when Ohashi won) since she became a senior. As a senior she has just kept getting better and better. but I don't know whether Biles gets enough height to get the Triple TY. I mean if you look at the videos, she just doesn't seem to get the height that Mckayla gets with her Amanar. also Maroney did take the year off with that knee injury/surgery last year. Mckayla. needs to improve her all around score. and upgrade some of her skills if she wants to be considered for the all around toget into that final selection process.
Wtf happened with China on bars?! They were supposed to outscore everyone there. Two falls, ugh. At least Huang hit. The fact that she uses no grips is amazing to me. Beam brought some redemption, Shang's routine was great.
Here are more things I want to see in Rio : Yao Jinnan do the Mo flip again, Simone do the Biles, Maroney come back and surprise us all with either the Cheung Fei or a TripleTY, and either Skinner or Victoria Moors do a double layout with twists. Also, did Giulia Steingruber change her floor music? I loved the previous one.... Ok, request submitted. You look magical, ladies.
I'm afraid if Maroney is focusing more on her floor, beam and bars she won't be needed as a specialist since biles is practicing a tty.. I love mckayla and want her back...but the depth of USA is so strong we could have a complete AA team... So much can happen and change...I guess we will see...
I remember the good old Soviet/communist Romania days. They were awesome. But America was terrible back then. Good job for Simone. Double layout half twist. Unbelievable.
America wasn’t “terrible” they were IGNORED- much like every other non eastern bloc nation in existence that competed. Certain countries had the judges in their control- mostly the Soviets- and that made it impossible for other countries to get their due recognition. If you want a prime example, 1988 team finals. East Germany should never have gotten that bronze medal, it belonged to the USA even with the penalty (a penalty that would never have been given to USSR, Romania or East Germany). The East Germans were ridiculously overscored on beam, full of bobbles and wobbles that were completely ignored. The reason countries like USA, China, France, Brazil and more are in contention today is because the judging is IMPARTIAL.
anybody notice what Kyla said to her coach after beam when she was trying to talk to her? What I got was "What are you doing?" "Whatever, I don't care."
The Russian gymnasts don't even act friendly to each other. When Alla fell during floor, none of them gave her a hug or said anything. For other teams, when someone falls the other girls still show support.
I’m really glad Larissa got back up from the minor injury she seemed to have gotten on the vault, it looked painful. But she got back up and finished the competition. It’s impressive how she didn’t fall down because of her foot, although it didn’t look to bad she still completed the vault with out flaws
The only thing I have bad to say about this is the audio is horrific. The crowd drowns out the commentators. Those awful sounds intermittently at the beginning. On the bright side , what I could hear of the commentators I liked. Competition was great. I'm always amazed by what these athletes can do.
So it's odd that so many who did really well got such low scores or lower then I thought they would. So are they just super picky point wise due to it being world championships?
do you have any idea how annoying is for non-Anglo speaking people/countries to hear Anglos pronounce 'foreign' names? Now you know how it feels, suck it up!
Chen Siyi is the only really graceful performer on floor of the Chinese team. It's such a shame that she fell all over the place this Championships. Apparently, she had the flu at the time.
Lockon Stratos I've seen a lot of artistic Chinese floor routines with strong performance quality, but not so much with this team. The artistic ones were Shang, Chen and Yao (she knows how to make it work in spite of questionable choreo).
withlove312 I just edit. They are the most boring and weak of any country. Claudia Fragapane is better than all of them. Once in awhile you're see one or two good Chinese women on floor but most are not good. So being good on bars and beam is not enough to win big like the USA.
Can anyone explain to me why the Chinese gymnasts are SO much tinier than the gymnasts form the other countries?? Is it just to do with their genetic makeup, or is there another factor there?
Pretty much explains why they're the best on the beam, none of them fall off at all. (because they're tiny) And all the other girls fall off at least once or come close to falling off.
Hillary Leach According to an article I read, the Chinese prefer a certain body type in their gymnasts which is why they are all tiny. That's the body type the Chinese coaches like.
Amy Brown You are absolutely correct. There are a couple of videos right on youTube that show how they choose the gymnasts. (If they didn't remove them!!) They measure their arms, legs, torsos, etc. and if they don't measure up, they won't accept them into the school/program. The series is interesting, but really very sad, because if a boy doesn't develop as fast as others, they DO NOT give any encouragement, but put the kid down. The parents put a tremendous amount of pressure on four and five year olds often putting the future of the family on the child's shoulders. Sad.
I can’t help but notice that there are a few gymnasts who are distractingly thin. I hope the days of stick bodies are quickly fading for those countries still hanging on to that (china in particular).
If I'm not mistaken, I remember someone saying that shang(the extremely thin gymnast) grew up in a poor area and was struggling so that's why she's thin like that. It's amazing that she's still able to perform well on floor and vault despite that and her gymnastics I still beautiful. As for the other chinese gymnasts, I think they're just naturally small. Every country has different body types
I want the US women to wear the red/white/blue like the men did. China I can understand with the all red. Even Russia with the former USSR flag. But no need for the US to stop wearing their flag because they are afraid of offending other nations. Look at Great Britain.
Kae Kae Jones Yup, and clearly it's not a problem with being CAPABLE of pronouncing it correctly, cause they also called McKayla Maroney "McKyla" at the Olympics. lol
+Tacks Sherbo Try saying it three times fast though, or after having a couple of drinks... it's almost a palindrome. If I was an announcer, I'd go over the names and pick out which ones I need to sound out first...
nightswimmer99 AHA!! Now THAT is the response of an intelligent person. SOUND IT OUT first---which is something they simply will not take the time to do. They have butchered the name of a Polish gal who competes--Kalesza--by making it KalesKa. They muddle the name of Mustafina by insisting on making it an Italian pronunciation--MustaFEEna, instead of MusTAHfeena. And they do the same with Afanaseva, which is pronounced AfaNAHsyeva, not AfanaSYEva. Although there are a few exceptions, a great many East European names are feminized simply by adding an "a" at the end of it, and most of those surnames do not have the stress (accent on the syllable) changed by that action. Over the years, almost all commentators interview either the athletes or their coaches. You would think that they would simply ask for the proper pronunciations at those times so that they can afford those competitors (and their FATHERS) the proper respect by simply saying their names correctly. But, no siree. They are either just plain stupid, or arrogant, or plain lazy. Can you tell it's a pet peeve of mine? Your name is probably the most important thing you own!! I would bet that Stanila's father's name was pronounced STAHneel. She would therefore become Alina STAHneela, and pronouncing it correctly in the first place would not only make it easier for westerners to say, but eliminate any insult to their families. So there. Rant complete. :)
Can anyone tell me what the hell is up with Tan's music?? It's like really bad dubstep and the choreography is done independently of it. But out of all the Chinese floor routines, I'd say Tan's was the cleanest, though in slow mo you can really see her knees bend and her twisting is Mustafina-ish. She's a cute gymnast. Just wish she had the artistry to match.
What I loved about the US is that they fought like mad on everything. They were shaky on beam and all three - Kyla, Alyssa and Simone - could have easily fallen off, and had they been less disciplined and determined, they would have. I'm starting to get tired of watching laid out yurchenkos, no matter how many twists they add. I mean, I'm not saying it's not amazing. I'm just craving a little more variety.
Me too. Seeing tsukhara 2.5's, double somersault vaults, or even half ons handspring vaults would be so cool to see.
yeah (six years later) i'm really loving simones double pike because it just adds diversity to vault yk
@@kennatheswiftie2359 Samee I hope people bring more variety. There's other vault that are difficult that gymnasts can do like the one alicia sacramone used to do. China is doing full twisting tsukuharas now
I've warmed up a little to Shang's routine.
They need a Cheng Fei!! Once they have a power gymnast for floor and vault, they will be back since no one can touch their bars except the Russians.
Ky Penn
I agree!
+Ky Penn Except that neither the Russians or Chinese are very consistent, at this rate I wouldn't be surprised to see a Romanian medal in bars -__-
Just a thought.
Bai Yawen 😊
I am a huge fan of Makamuri's floor! She can contend for an EF if she keeps performing like she is! I mean its no Simone Biles or Larisa Iordache, but still, I would love to see her in a final.
Kae Kae Jones I know, she is so much fun to watch. I also love her beam.
I don't know if she was injured, but she usually does a double layout in her FX routine, making her even MORE of a contender. P.S. she was 4th at 2013 wc on floor :p
came from future to say she is a world champion on floor
This comment aged so well. She is the current World Champion on floor and Olympic Bronze medalist
@@jerseyfierce7123 yes 2 time world floor champion. Floor bronze in 2018 and Olympic bronze in floor.
Larissa iordache's floor routine was magnificent
Megha P. Meh...Vanessa's Ferrari was
+Ricardo Neto I like Ferarri's routines, but how many years has she now been performing to that groaning woman music? Four? Five? More? Yikes. One would think she could find something else.
Megha P. Why wouldn't it Larissa is awesome she is so good😱
32:17 I wonder if those are Asuka’s parents. Does anyone know? That woman is so adorable!!!
?? Asuka is Japanese and those guys are Chinese...
I was kinda bummed to see Mustafina not doing the one and a half twisting double back (Tucked). It was really fun to see her stick it in London.
She looked like she was sick
I’m pretty sure it was because she was getting over some small injury issues and was taking it a bit easier. She brought it back for Rio- and won gold number TWO.
@@loridunevant6973she was actually under the weather in these championships yes. A sign of a tough athlete, being able to forge through in spite of not feeling her best (WITHOUT COLD MEDICINE!)
Omg Chunsong's beam was sooo perfect
Blasemphy
Who's ready for Rio 2016? I am, so much talent to watch for
Me too. I love to watch Rio 2016!!!
starts at 7:00
Thank you,
Thank you so much!
Ally Miller thanks
thanks
1:23:55 I think that's the same music as carly Patterson when she won the all around back in 2004
Please make this available in Canada I'm dying to watch. I'm huge fan!
Aliya was sick here and if I remember correctly, she was also sick for World's 2013. Is she OK?? I really hope so, she's my favorite gymnast. The poor girl always looks so exhausted. Take a rest my dear, we need you in Rio too!
That's because she is carrying the russian team
These British commentators are cracking me up. The British team is not good, yet everything they do is "so powerful" & "so fluid." Lol, no , it's not.
Lol. I will say they're much more positive to listen to than Al & Tim.
The coaches should always get medals too. I love it.
Me too, they seemed very honored!!
Watching the gymnasts’ faces while they are in the air are just hilarious
Is just hilarious....... no are
And half the time, in the air over a big jump or a big drop down a bank or into the water- your facial expression tends to read: "OH GOD WERE GONNA DIIIIE!!!"
But, a riders God awful facial expression is the LAST thing we ever notice when looking at our photos... And my leg is damn near perfect- look at my hands- that's a DEFINITION beautiful crest-release!"
"Yeah but... Look at your FACE!!! HAHHAAHA!" ....Shut up lol. I bet gymnasts think similarly when watching themselves on video or in photos- they probably look at their body positioning & the LAST thing they'll look at or notice is the stupid look on their face!! Hahha
wtf why was there barely anyone in the stands??? it's worlds!!!
I love Huidan's bars, but did the British commentators even address the split legs on the Pak Salto? If they did, I must have missed it, because I didn't hear anything.
commentary sound is very uneven
What did Mustafina say at 1:04:08?
Kim Nowak I don’t know, she’s Russian so I’m guessing what she said was in Russian.
@@kaleidstone8609 Yeah it was in russian
It's interesting that all of the teams on the podium are wearing red leotards.
I can't hear the commentators barely at all :(
Was Mustafina ill? She looks like she's in some serious discomfort.
Yes, she confirmed afterwards that she had a fever and her back was bothering her.
Blu Tigress someone said she had a fever - although that girl stuff are not mutually exclusive.
She had the flu
i absolutely love that the coaches were given medals too and were included in the medal ceremony!!
Chunsong underscored on beam
Lack of artistry is what got her- continuously. You’d think she’d have learned but nope.
Shang's beam was amazing!
Why did the team alternates get a medal?
Next year Bailie Key will be on the US team, can't wait. LOVE HER! And of course Simone might have a triple on vault! YES!
USA is strong rite now face it
I almost didn't recognize Mai Murakami with long hair
I do believe both Biles and Maroney are practicing a triple TY!! Imagine they both actually compete it :).
Ky, McKayla Maroney plans to couple the Cheng and the Triple together. I've seen her in interveiws talking about it
Joann Hilton I know.
Biles has nailed all her competitions (except the American Cup in 2013 when Ohashi won)
since she became a senior.
Wow the fact they cut off the National Anthem is so disrespectful.......
I stop gymnastics i think i want to do it again
1:29:58, shang chunsong's beam routine is so delightful to watch.
So USA Gymnastics is using BBC broadcast now? That says quite a lot about the quality of NBC doesn't it.
they have both versions. the NBC version is much longer and it includes the mens.
Why didn't Komova go to Nanning?
Injuries.
I remember the good old Soviet/communist Romania days. They were awesome. But America was terrible back then. Good job for Simone. Double layout half twist. Unbelievable.
+Precious Love Damn your old, I kid I kid.
1:46:03 Shang chunshong floor
I hope 🤞 to see Simone biles and other USA women and USA men team compete in the gymnastics 🤸♀️ events in Paris France 🇫🇷 2024
I think someone Biles will probably be the only one who'll return for the Olympics in 2024
Really china? Cutting off the National Anthem? Don't be so salty you came in second
They've always done this in mutiple world's, so don't be salty.
ALL PLAYERS IS STAMINA FULL STRONG FULL TECHNICAL FULL PRACTICE FULL, BUT ALIYA MUSTAFIN IS SUPER EXTRAORDINARY PLAYER IN THIS GAME............
anybody notice what Kyla said to her coach after beam when she was trying to talk to her? What I got was "What are you doing?" "Whatever, I don't care."
YES! I noticed that. Kyla is OVER it.
USA World & Olympic Teams 2000-2014
I love how we only see two of the three from each team on each event
The Russian gymnasts don't even act friendly to each other. When Alla fell during floor, none of them gave her a hug or said anything. For other teams, when someone falls the other girls still show support.
нет, просто сосредоточенность
What is this beeping at the beginning what the heck
simone biles must like twisting double back because it's her dismount on beam floor andbars
There's something wrong. The US anthem cut out somehow.
Why wasn’t tan on bars instead of shang
I’m really glad Larissa got back up from the minor injury she seemed to have gotten on the vault, it looked painful. But she got back up and finished the competition. It’s impressive how she didn’t fall down because of her foot, although it didn’t look to bad she still completed the vault with out flaws
Is just hilarious........... not are
Sorry wrong xomment
Ya sorry I left a couple comments and I meant to make a grammer correction to the and I clicked on this one instead oops.
1:46:04 Shang chunshong
Jenny on the podium was the cutest!
Team USA: Gold, Team China: Silver and Team Russia: bronze in Women's Team Finals 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Champion.
Am I the only one who thinks Gabrielle Jupp looks like Ygritte from Game of Thrones?
She definitely does!
The male British commentator keeps calling her Alina StALina. Her name is Alina StANila.
I was getting so irritated with that!
The only thing I have bad to say about this is the audio is horrific. The crowd drowns out the commentators. Those awful sounds intermittently at the beginning. On the bright side , what I could hear of the commentators I liked. Competition was great. I'm always amazed by what these athletes can do.
Maybe if they feed the Chinese gymnasts they won't run out of steam at the end of their routines
So it's odd that so many who did really well got such low scores or lower then I thought they would. So are they just super picky point wise due to it being world championships?
sorry for the very late reply, but national meets tend to overscore their gymnasts. I'm pretty sure it's to gather more attention to the sport.
wtf wheres Canada?
The commentators are seriously annoying me.... they called kyla "kayla" like get it right people!
do you have any idea how annoying is for non-Anglo speaking people/countries to hear Anglos pronounce 'foreign' names? Now you know how it feels, suck it up!
or Netherlands?
Woah....................................who trained them!?
wow Mai looked so different then
Red was definitely a popular leotard color that year, haha!
I couldn't believe in Larrissa's (Miller) FX score! To low...
Ricardo Neto Well she fell, which would significantly lower her score. She tried to cover it up with a handstand but it was a fall.
Chen Siyi is the only really graceful performer on floor of the Chinese team. It's such a shame that she fell all over the place this Championships. Apparently, she had the flu at the time.
withlove312 It's really painful to watch Chinese women on floor. They are so weak and boring. No spirit, fun, smiles, enthusiasms or anything.
Lockon Stratos I've seen a lot of artistic Chinese floor routines with strong performance quality, but not so much with this team. The artistic ones were Shang, Chen and Yao (she knows how to make it work in spite of questionable choreo).
withlove312 The Chinese are the least interesting of any country.
Lockon Stratos On floor and vault, often yes, at least where big skills are concerned. On beam and bars, no.
withlove312 I just edit. They are the most boring and weak of any country. Claudia Fragapane is better than all of them. Once in awhile you're see one or two good Chinese women on floor but most are not good. So being good on bars and beam is not enough to win big like the USA.
I'm tired that Always the Same teams are winning.
Hillary Leach They're Chinese! Duh...
Hillary Leach According to an article I read, the Chinese prefer a certain body type in their gymnasts which is why they are all tiny. That's the body type the Chinese coaches like.
Hillary Leach i think it's because they are simply younger than the other athletes
Sad.
no one does bars like Russia, their worst is better than everyones best.
France?
France didn't score high enough to qualify for qualification
Germany?
I can’t help but notice that there are a few gymnasts who are distractingly thin. I hope the days of stick bodies are quickly fading for those countries still hanging on to that (china in particular).
If I'm not mistaken, I remember someone saying that shang(the extremely thin gymnast) grew up in a poor area and was struggling so that's why she's thin like that. It's amazing that she's still able to perform well on floor and vault despite that and her gymnastics I still beautiful. As for the other chinese gymnasts, I think they're just naturally small. Every country has different body types
I’m watching this in 2022 and now when I hear Mai Murakami’s floor music, all I can think of is those Xiao Ling videos on TikTok 😭
Shang’s beam was amazing
58:07 commentary guy keeps saying Alina Stalina but its Stanila lol
or Brazil
The gb girl 1:33:00 routine was awful, great tumbling passes but really bad choreography
I think it’s cool, it’s not graceful but it’s beautiful in its own way
I want the US women to wear the red/white/blue like the men did. China I can understand with the all red. Even Russia with the former USSR flag. But no need for the US to stop wearing their flag because they are afraid of offending other nations. Look at Great Britain.
Lockon Stratos don’t forget Romania wearing their colors to
1:37:40
They said kayla ross?! It's kyla
Kae Kae Jones Yup, and clearly it's not a problem with being CAPABLE of pronouncing it correctly, cause they also called McKayla Maroney "McKyla" at the Olympics. lol
yes
55:27 -- Alina STALINA? Huh? Stalina?? Alina STANILA, not Stalina. Cheeesh.
+Tacks Sherbo Try saying it three times fast though, or after having a couple of drinks... it's almost a palindrome. If I was an announcer, I'd go over the names and pick out which ones I need to sound out first...
+nightswimmer99 Oh, wait... it IS a palindrome! Very clever of her parents! :)
nightswimmer99 AHA!!
There's good dubstep? ;)
Lol
I love simone
I love Mustafina, but i think she was overscored on that vault.
There's absolutely no way Chen Siyi was 16 here
29:40 she look funny with that look.
