Hi J.K, you inspired me into taking my McCulloch Pro Max 510 that has been sitting in my shed for the last 20 years and get to work on it. I am more of a handy man in my spare time, but recently took my retirement. So, I had all the time that I needed. I spent a little more than a day disassembling it in pieces, cleaned it, and changed the spark plug. It was not easy to reassemble it just like your video showed. After several cranks, it started! What an amazing feeling it is. Thanks again for your well explained video, it was very inspiring.

I was given one of these a few years ago. I managed to get it started once with some spray start, but still took 20 minutes!
I was using the Stihl oil though, so I wonder if that at 16:1 was not quite right for it?
I noticed you said it needed some help to prime, what does that mean?
We just had some wild storms here in Melbourne Australia, and I think I might need to use it

@deepgravity most modern synthetic oils far surpass what was available at the time of the Saws manufacturing. Initially, I use a 30:1 ratio to get them going, then, 40:1 after that. The "help priming" is simply squirting fuel down the throat of the carb during the initial start up to help pull the fuel through a completely dry system.

Gracias por el video, mi inglés no es bueno, cual era el problema a parte de la suciedad externa?

Thanks for this great video. How do these compare to the 100 series? Are they more reliable than the 100 series? Somebody local to me is selling a pair of these for $50. If they're worth saving I'll buy them from him.

I’m adjusting the flow rate of the automatic oiler. Facing the front of the saw, Counterclockwise increases the amount of oil per pump, clockwise decreases it.

@@alexandreplouffe587 Looking at the front of the saw, it should be on the clutch cover just to the left of the bar.

Hey, just picked one up, what are the baseline settings on the carb, can’t quite get it to kick over

Gently turn in both high and low screws until seated, then back both out 1-1/2 turns. It may be a little rich, but for most saws, it's a good starting point.

@@j.k.mcclead9207 got it to fire but can’t get it cold started for the life of me without a little help from some brake clean, ideas where to start, was stored dry for 3 years so I’m thinking diaphragm in the carb

Sounds like the needle isn’t quite sealing, it may be time for a carb rebuild & fuel line.@@angrymitch1566
