    I love those Rectoverbs. I've been using those since 2004ish. Besides the fact they weigh like 86 lbs I think they're perfect. I've been through like 10 amps and keep going back to the Mesa. Nice guitar too. I love Reverse headstocks.

      The Rectoverb weighs a ton but I am willing to drag it around for that sound. I used a Dual Rect from 92-09. From 09 to now been using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe so it's nice to come back to that sound.

    Mesa clean tones are just to clean. I was rooming with 2 pedal steel players for a while that you know the Industry standard was a solid state Peavy session 400. They all used them because you could not make them even think about breaking up. Then I think Paul Franklin was the first to use a mesa studio preamp, with a QSC for a power amp. Then many steel players changed to that rig because the clean channel was so pristine. The dirty channel was all Boogie but those studio preamps with an EV or JBL 15 became a pedal steel standard. Fender clean is another story. When you find that sweet spot right when it starts to grow some hair, and you get those pretty low mids its heaven. I cant get a mesa to do that.I cant believe that the great Paul Franklin is playing a Little Walter tube amp through a 12 inch speaker now. He still sounds amazing though.PS those studio preamps were flying out of West LA music in those days.No discounts on Mesa gear back then.VERY GOOD!

    I've always thought that the hard rock tone you're talking about was the best! I think that tone existed from about 1978 to 1984...definitely not past that when everything became cold and processed and drenched in reverb..that nice warm, not overly saturated sound is definitely my favorite...

    I have to say, I'm in total agreement with you, but! I saw a ceramic guitar online. You might have seen it. As I remember, the sound was a little different. Very different.
    My idea was to epoxy a bridge and nut to a cement wall with a fretboard and some pickups. Plug that in and see what the hell is going on. I also saw a cardboard guitar made by somebody, I forgot who. It sounded like totally normal. I'm going to invent a paint that makes the guitar sound so much better. Do you wanna go in with me and make a million dollars and then go to jail? Just axing.

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ceramic guitar you probably heard the guitar, not just what would come out of the amp. Put the guitar in another room and mic just the amp and you will see, its just a guitar.

      @@DavesGuitarChannel Yeah, here's the only clip I have. I think it's mostly amp but there could be some acoustic in there somewhere. Give a listen. th-cam.com/video/VG7bqKe-CRQ/w-d-xo.html

      @@DavesGuitarChannel I'm gonna say this. What the pickups are embedded in could make a difference. If the nut to the saddle is slate, that's one thing. The wings and the body don't make much of any difference. If the nut to the saddle is steel, I'm open for discussion. The strings add a disturbance and so does the substrate the pickups are mounted to.
      The old hollow body jobs used to howl because the pickups were embedded in an acoustic platform.
      What ever.

    PLAYING IN THE BEGINNING IS GREAT, BUT IS THIS A AMP DEMO, OR GUITAR THEORY AND PHYSICS?

    Hi Dave. How is the Babicz bridge for tuning stability and intonation? I'm considering getting one for one of my strats, but I live in Ireland so I can't get to see one or check one out. I know Jeff from when I lived in the U.S. and I was endorsed by Steinberger. Congrats on losing the weight, and I wish you lots of luck - the guitar and amp sound great!

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seems to be real comfortable to play and intonation is good. I got it mainly for the look. I thought a standard Fender bridge would look too meek with Steel pickguard so i went for the look but its screams. No complaints whatsoever. As far as weight loss, I used to bodybuild for years then had some thyroid issues that are now over so back in the gym, losing the weight but also putting the good weight back on. Cheers for the kind words.

      You're very welcome Dave - I always enjoy your videos, whether you're just having a rant, or sharing your playing knowledge through one of your cool lessons. You know your instruments and gear very well, and you are very entertaining and natural to watch and listen to. Just keep on doing what you do!

    Why do you use a Compressor? I had a Mesa Mik 2 combo which was fabulous BUT the clean was very plain and dull. I wish I had never sold it though.

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike G the compressor is great for cleans, adds sustain and clarity and greatly improves the clean.

    • @MikeGgeetar
      @MikeGgeetar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I really struggle with the lack of dynamics- I've tried it but I just can't get to grips with compression.

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike G try one that has a blend knob, bringing in the true signal gets the original attack back while adding sustain
