That is a different combination. We use thuvar dhal 1 portion and horsegram(kollu) half or thuvar dhal and a combination of red and little black pepper. Roasted horsegram has an excellent aroma. Will sure try your combination too.

👌 👌 👌 Nice recipe Mami. I always enjoy parpa podi in south Indian meals. One small request, please never keep any food items on news paper. The chemicals use in the ink is very bad for our health.
Maami, the same roasted paruppu can be ground along with crystal or coarse sea salt available in the west or kallu uppu which is added towards the end of the roasting, to give it some warmth. Please try this traditional and more nutritious salt. Table salt is not as healthy. From another Shyamala.
Also please try adding a third cup of kollu or mothira in Malayalam. Roasted Kollu is awesome in flavor and significantly packed with nutrients. In fact, for idli-dosai milagai podi too, we add only ulutham paruppu, ellu and sometimes kollu, when we have it in the house in my patti's days. Kadalai paruppu is avoided in Palakkad Tamil homes, from what I learnt. Other three paruppu, ulundu, pasi, and thuvarai are used. I agree with Maami, that thuvaram parapuu had to be bought or bartered for other paruppu in the older generations that lived on what they grew on the land.
