Note:
•Please dont disable your firewall as it increases the security risks, it will work without disabling firewall.
•You have to enter the user name and password which you use to login to windows.
if there is no password set in your windows then just enter the username an leave password blank. 1:59
•when you enter username and password in mi home app and dont get the folder list then click on that mi security camera icon in background shown at : 2:05
and if you get that try again button then click it 3-4 times its a bug of mi home app

no way my camera is not showing the NAS storage option, basically it is disabled, how can i enable it, can anyone please help me out
Check the sd card status in the app,
There must be some error, if there is then i think formatting the card will work.
i did everthing but i cant select the folder that i want to store clips in
How to find User name and password?
Username is the same you see on your windows lock screen
And password is what you use to login to your windows.

Every pc has user name.
Just enter username and leave password blank

Hi, great tutorial. I am able to connect the camera to detect NAS.
But it seems that I have to keep the app on forever to have it record to NAS.
This is more like a manual backup, right? It won't backup say every one hour or at the end of the day, when the app is closed?

It will backup even if you close the app and there is an option to change backup time to a day, week, or live backup.

And it was backing up as per setting! Yeah!

Try if it works without smb 1.0
If not then try the steps in link .

You can see before purchasing camera if it support NAS or not i have mi 360 security camera.
No, internet is not required because both camera and pc are on same wifi.
It Says Couldn't refresh Error.. No list display Under NAS After entering User and Pass
First check your folder in any other SMB app

Hi, I need help, I have done all steps but mi mobile app does activate Nas. It is simple disable. My laptop, mobile and cemera all 3 are on same WiFi. Do I require separate storage device for NAs.

Will any camera from xiaomi work or does it have to be just a specific camera cuz I've seen I think another camera also say it will work with any other cameras work cuz I'm looking for an outdoor camera need to be hooked up to a nas storage system.
You can see the details while purchasing the camera if it supports nas or not.
i've follow the step; folder already listed when click -> result couldn't set.
Try this: Goto the security tab of the folder and allow all permission for the user(windows user) of which you are entering the user name and password.
I can't find smb feature. I'm using windows 7
Did you tried without smb 1.0 ?
If not then first try without it and if not works then here is the link on how you can enable it in windows 7 but be careful its editing in registry.

I done everything you have shown in video. But in mi home nas is shown grey. I cant able to touch that option.

Because nas transfer the videos from sd card to your pc.

If you selected live backup then you have to turn it on 24*7 but i recommend not to do that,
just turn on nas when you turn on pc and turn it off before you turn off your pc.
Because some time i have noticed when i turned off pc and nas is on it shows sd card error and doesn't record video.

Sorry i dont have WD colud ,
But you can try searching for NAS or sharing folder on wd colud from google and the rest of the process is same.
Whenever the pc is turned off ..will it share all the video recordings after pc turned on???
No when you turn off pc it will show error in mi home app and you have to manually start the backup from mi home app when you turn your pc back on.

I am using DIR 819 router, it doesn't have usb port. Is there any way to connect external hard disk to router?
No without usb port you cant connect hard disk , you can use your desktop or laptop for backup

It will depend on your isp and the range you want , you can goto any router company website like dlink ,tplink and in filter select router with usb ,whichever suits you best purchase that.
Before purchasing router make sure it has NAS support , you can get this in routers user manual or you can also google it

When camera is off mi home app will not show you anything
You can watch your nas backup videos in your pc or in your phone using third party apps like mx player or any other player which supports local network stream
When sd card is removed and camera is on you can watch live but nas will not work without sdcard
I am did everything as explained and I am having SD card inserted and the camera is attached within the same network. Yet it shows me only 1 folder, which is not familiar to me - "IPC$"...which I am unable to access as well, wants me to wait around 30 secs and then gives me "Couldn't set, try again". I believe that is not even a valid folder. In addition is the shared folder supposed to be shared somewhere around the main local disk drive for example C (I do not believe though, but I am still asking it for confirmation I guess) ? I tried with both with/without credentials, same. Firewall turned off as well, sharing enabled for admin everywhere... any suggestions ?
You can share folder in any drive,
How many users you have in windows?
Try if it is working by changing sharing permission to everyone in security and sharing tab of folder properties.
@@techinfoaa It is already specified for everyone, but in general I do have 2 users and mainly I am using only a single one (mine). Yet I am connecting my profile by using the proper credentials for sure, the ones I am logging into it the windows account.

@@techinfoaa I did everything again as per guide, same behavior. Eventually I believe there is something related with account settings, since it cannot recognize me once I try entering to the shared folder through my phone by using the file exp app. I did try without credentials by assigning "Everyone" and allowing everything, which would let me in eventually without credentials but unfortunately no luck again? In addition I am logged in through my Google profile over my windows account and I am the administrator, for which I am suspicious for. Also my phone is rooted but that does not matter here. Any other ideas ?
I discovered it on my own, apparently it was quite confusing, yeah...
I went to My PC -> Computer management -> Local Users and Groups -> There I went over my account and noticed that the field "Full name" was the one which was showing on my logon screen. Unfortunately the real name which is basically assigned to my user is the one in the whole tab itself being listed beneath the "Name" field only (without even entering to the account).
I just renamed it and everything started to work as normal. It would be great if you even add it to the guide or the video. I suspect It would be quite known issue :)

@@techinfoaa there is no option to turn it off can you wrie the exact thing i have to turn off if i off the button called ' vedio storage' then it shows transmission is paused bt when i turn it on again then it startssending the recording to laptop from the begening not from where it stops
Yes you can turn off video storage.
But when you turn it on it will start sending from where it left
Wait for few minutes after starting the video storage and then see in your folder.
It will send 1-1 min videos and there will be different folder for each date and hour.

Got the Laptop name detected in the camera app but not able to get the shared folders, its coming as "Could not set"
Check the permission of the folder
Or there will be a light camera icon after entering username and password press on that

Your phone pc and camera should be on same wifi router
Only for the configaration it should be on the same network??

@@NaveenKKR If you have sd card inserted and your wifi is turned on it will record. It doesn't matter if you are at home or not it will record.
Hi there, thanks for the video. I've done all the step (including disabling firewall), but whenever i click the folder in Mi App, it always say "Couldnt Set. Try Again"

no need to disable firewall just check folder permission and after clicking the folder in app there will be a mi camera icon in the centre of your screen press on that 2-3 times

Did you tried pressing on that camera icon in the centre of the screen. If this also not solves then first check if your folder is showing in any SMB file manger play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cxinventor.file.explorer&hl=en_US&gl=US
