You can tell Carpenter is the guy behind Halloween. The gang in this are basically the precursor for Michael Myers. Adnormally quiet, stoic and completely fixated on the task at hand. While The Fog has my favorite Carpenter score, Precinct 13 has my favorite theme.
The little girl being shot was cut from the movie until its DVD release. That little girl was Kim Richards. She was the number one female Disney star at the time. It would be like if it was 2006 and they shot Miley Cyrus. It is against the law to put blood squibs on a child. So to shot the girl they ran a tube up her sleeve and up in to the Ice Cream cone, Than shot the fake blood out the ice cream on to her shirt.
As John Carpenter movies go this one is often overlooked by the casual fan but it is very very worth watching. He said was inspired by Night of the Living Dead and The Last Man in Earth.

Unfortunately, this video will probably not get a lot of views. But for me, this is one of Carpenter's best, maybe even better than The Thing. You definetely make some very good movie choices, Jimmy :)
The 2005 remake is good enough. The low budget, bare bones aspects that gave the original its flavour are gone along with the score and the unintelligible enemy masses. It is a serviceable go at it though and worth a watch. The sequel to ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ is ‘Ghosts of Mars’ 2001.
Stay away from the remake... it's everything this one isn't. Actually, as a general rule, it is a good idea to stay away from any and all attempts to remake John Carpenter films.

Carpenter's underappreciated film. It's basically a "modern" western.
I'll be one to say, but the 2005 remake is pretty cool, and has a great cast.
