I totally agree with you on multiple transpo options. $1,100 for the bike? She means well. But, she would be better off buying three or four - 22 speed drive train road bikes. No electricity being needed. One can probably stock up tire tubes and parts for about 10 years for 22 speed bikes. How does she charge the ebike? Batts can only be charged so many times before they fail. I guess the batt is garbage in two years because the ebike is coming with a cheaper made Chinese battery, lol. And war with China would mean no more batts! I wonder how much weight sh could strip odff that ebike for easier pedaling?

Awesome bike, Lilly! It'd be a good idea if the company made a solar panel that you could mount on the rear rack to help charge the battery. Also, you can get an AC power inverter for your vehicle, so you could charge it with your car.

    • @ClinttheGreat

You’d need 4x12v panels wired the correct way, to make a 48v solar panel. A basic BMS to regulate spiking, and it will charge a 48v battery.
Honestly? It would take you 2 whole days of sun just to charge your battery once. The size of the panels wired this way would be way too large.
Still possible though for sure so long as you wanted to charge it this way from home ✅

This is what 25 years of preparing looks like In Kentucky, USA...We can use ATV's , 4X4 trucks and dirt bikes for travel, no e-bike yet but it's on the bucket list. We have a small lake stocked full of fish. We have turkey, deer and other small game in abundance on the 45 acres of land . 30+ acres are forested and have a small creek that flows all year long on the land. We also grow a sizable portion of our vegetables and can them, We are multi skilled and have all the tools from gardening , fixing auto's or anything with a engine. We can do electrical work, carpentry work, we have climate controlled sheds stacked high with food, water and other necessities like meds, clothing, reloader equipment for bullets and enough solar power to overcome a grid shut down. We also have enough weapons' to protect the local community. We have bug out bags but will prefer to hold our ground but flexible enough to move to safe areas that have back up supplies.

I am an oldschool type of guy. Just a regular old mountain bike. The rear rack on your bike is a good arrangement... You know it can haul more if you are smart about it. My understanding of Electric bikes is that if they konk out, they are really heavy. I also wonder about their circuitry in case we have an EMP. or solar storm that fries the grid like the carrington event did.. Some folks have opted for smallish and very basic 50-90cc 2 stroke gas engine additions to their bikes... They will work hard, they are fast, and they are as simple as a lawnmower to work on... no worries about Electrical infrastructure stuff either. Some folks say, "Oh we aren't allowed to use 2 stroke motors, so why would we get one?" When the SHTF, will the gestapo be out to enforce the laws about lawnmowers and 2 strokes, or will you be the neighborhood hero for having a light and nimble and moderately capable ride to haul you and a bit of gear? You can also retrofit pretty much any bike with a small 2 stroke motor for cheap. as cheap as electric. Older style is sometimes better, although as far as electrics, that set up you got looks really good.

Lily, it looks like we had tgd sane idea at the same time! 😂 I just recently picked up thd MUCH cheaper Vivi ebike from Amazon. Later on this year I want to get a trailer for my bike to convert into a camper with solar panels on the roof and make it into my bug out base on wheels. Later this summer I want to try going on a cross state bike ride with my ebike and camper.
Back when I was a teenager 14 or 15 mph (about 28 to 30 kph) was my average regular speed on my mountain bike on flat terrain. I could easily hit 20 to 25 mph (40 -50 kph) on a hill in relatively flat Michigan. As such I like my ebikes able to go at least 20 mph. Fortunately in my home state of Washington ebikes are allowed to go up to 20 mph and still be legally treated as a regular bicycle.

I have the L20, had it for 9 months happy with it but the battery life is not long has only 500 cycles so if you ride it hard on the battery you will be replacing them. I use human power mostly and only pedal assist 2 on hills when I am tired I use it for all short errands and get some exercise. The step thru is the best as at 61 it is much easier to use when you load up with groceries.

I am a big man, and I had a E-Bike with 250W motor that is not so powerful, would be better with 750 W or more. Have a 50cc scooter that is easy to drive long distans and don't use much gas. A 7 L tank will last for ca 200 km. I went camping on it about 200 km and I could go longer distans if I want. The battery is a fire hazard, so I will not charge it in my apartment.

I love your channel. I was thinking, and I believe the only way for us to truly survive is working together and having a plan where it involves numbers. Some how we need communities of people, who can protect each other and are made up of Construction Workers, Doctors, Nurses, Ex-Military, Survivalists, Farmers etc. If threatened we can protect each other, if hurt we can get help and so forth. In other words we share our knowledge.. If we act as individuals, then I believe we will be prayed upon. Somehow, we need to communicate and plan? In regards to the e-bile, I think electricity will be at a premium, so a regular, heavy duty mountain bike may be the answer?

Great idea! I bought a very similar one several years ago for the same reason. For the naysayers that say they can be taken out with an EMP. If that were to happen just peddle. But if it doesn’t happen then you can travel twice as far, twice as fast. Also for all those that say they can catch fire. Yeah, your car can too. Simply buy a battery charging fireproof bag.

It can't actually go 80 miles. Best I ever got pedaling my butt off was under 30 miles with my Himiway Zebra. Also claiming 80 mile range. Similar bike with a 20ah battery. I would recommend replacing the rear tire with a hard compound road tire. I burned through mine the first summer I put on about 1500 miles. I added an additional hard case 20ah battery with velcro to my luggage rack and doubled the range to around 60 miles. I plan to add 2 more batteries. I also have a small trailer I can pull.

The cruise control option if you forget to turn it off. interesting machine. These machines you use are use a lot in the United States.

Nice bike! I like the options to use the throttle, turn up the speed and remove the battery. Let's say for example that in a crisis situation your bike isn't working on the electric, hypothetically you might choose to remove the battery and hide it somewhere so you can lighten the bike... 😊
