One of the best instinctive players to ever play the game. As a Patriots fan, he put fear into our fan base any time we played the Steelers…Troy is a Legend!
@@richp5321 No way. Ed Reed had CB that could cover we had 2 then they left towns and Ike. Then Troy had to be the secondary by himself. Ed Reed always had help on the outside. Plus at LB. Troy was better because of the lack of talent Pittsburgh went through for 5 years. Troy didn't have help
When I first came across TP he was at USC.....I didn't know who he was at the time. There was all this fuss about the QB.....Carson Palmer....I thought to myself....This Palmer kid is good but he's not even close to the best player on his team. I swear Troy sometimes he would be at two places at once.....Blitzing and playing coverage at the same time. Damn cheater of the time space continuum.
Troy is in the top 5 of my top 10 favorite Safeties. 1. Ronnie Lott 2. Kenny Easley 3. Jack Tatum 4. Troy Polamalu 5. Ed Reed. 6. Steve Atwater 7. Sean Taylor 8. Pat Tillman 9. Brian Dawkins 10. John Lynch.
Yeah Polamalu is higher than Easley and Tatum. Tatum was an effect plater but he was a dirty player that tried to get bigger hits than making the play. He was more flashier than substantial. Other Raiders were more important than Tatum. Easley was more numbers, he didn't have any of the presence or impact Polamalu had. When TP was on the field anything could happen. He was a threat from all over. TP's knock was that sometimes he was out of position if he guessed wrong. But considering the success the Steelers had with TP on the team him being out there was a difference maker. In the biggest moments in the biggest games more often then not TP made the big plays. TP was at least as good as Ronnie Lott. His highlight reel is the stuff of legends.
Troy was running full speed almost straight ahead and Johnson had just broken a tackle, was at half speed, and was moving laterally. Troy had all the advantages. Any pro safety makes that tackle. Troy might look better doing it but it wasn't a difficult tackle.
Children need to learn that CJ2K was 4.2 speed and was dominating the league at that time. Some folks only saw TP play after his Achilles injury and may not realize how fast he had been
Wow, didn't know there were so many ways to ruin a 26 second clip. You did it all, added unnecessary music, unnecessary effects and took out the announcers making the call.

You’re goddamn right he pumped fear into that fan base!
just can not believe how fast Troy closed those 10 yards
Troy was a beast top 5 defensive players of all time
Loved watching this hit live. Best safety of all time.
I hate to say it cuz Ive been a Steelers fan since I was in diapers. I think Ed Reed was the best

@@nolanoneal2461 sorry bud, but ed reed is the greatest safety of all time
Like a cheetah coming out of no where to take down the gazelle
Nice! For some reason this play is usually missing from his highlight reels.
I remember watching this live and thinking wow he closed in fast ! Troy is a legend. Steelers for life
I've watched a lot of football. This is my favorite tackle I've ever witnessed.
Troy in the Matrix...literally 2 places at once. Takes out the fastest man in the NFL in a blink...well, 2nd fastest, lol.
Who was faster
@@d2cardboardnovice169 well Hill is the fastest now
@@nicks-wrestling7952 lol
I love that guy man!!!
I'm not a Steelers fan so my opinion is unbiased... Troy Polamalu was one kf the best football players i've ever seen in my lifetime ! Born 1990.
I was there for that game. Thursday Night went into Overtime... Glad I got to see Troy play twice....

Glory years. 😤
Can't believe he lined up in the C gap!
I was afraid of what CJ was gonna do to us that game. Troy squashed that fear in the first few minutes.
One of a kind.
Man! I dont think there a faster person in the first 10 yards than him.
Man I miss these Steelers
God I miss Troy on our team.
I'm surprised all the Steelers haters haven't piled in here with "that's a dirty hit!"
Dude, did you see how FAST Polamalu closed the gap between himself and Johnson, from the second level of the Steelers defense to the Titans backfield?
No we definitely didn’t see it
Such a great tackle!
He ran a 4.4 flat at 5”10 215 at SC’s pro day and it definitely showed on that play
Well his official time is actually a 4.3
HALL OF FAMER!
I was at his game
Savage.
That (Uso) 👍
MR 4.2 meet MR. 4-3 😂😂

its the read. most safeties dont see the play before it happens like that
