Absolutely agree with you. Glad some people in the West have brains and still able to think despite brainwashing. I am 47, never in my life read or heard any ONE good word about Russia from western MSM. Only 💩. And same regarding movies or TV series (even modern). If I judged Russia based on this stories I would afraid this country too. Russia always dark, everything is gray (no colors at all), strange, viard , alcohol addicted, zombi like people hanging around. I think the purpose is to create image of enemies, aliens who even don't deserve to live on this planet.
Glad you have noticed that. In Western movies or TV series (even recent), Russia is always some dark place, where no colors exist at all (like different planet). Miserable and depressing surroundings, zombi like, alcohol addicted, viard people hanging around. If I jugged my own country based on that "stories" I would afraid it too.
My dude all people naturally are loving and caring creatures. Thats not a Russian feature, that is a human feature. On the other hand the life one live can screw this up. If you live in a society which ideology is all about individualism, competition, "Homo homini lupus est", etc -- this can make you less of a human, and more an animal. Thats why westerners find post-soviet societies so welcoming and heart-warming. We just have a little vaccine against capitalism. He save a little more human in ourselves. And that's it.

We, Russians, have a very easy access to art and culture. Living in St.Petersburg, which is like a city-size museum itself, going on a bus trip around the city + a boat trip through rivers and canals will cost you around 50-70 usd, and it is the most expensive kind of a trip, apart from a heli flight over the historical downtown SPb. An annual subscription at the Erarta museum will cost you 80 usd, and the exhibitions update nearly every week. Visiting any state owned museum will cost you less than 5 usd generally. And if you are eligible for discount, the price gets under 2 usd, for some categories of people (WW2, GPW, Afghan, Chechen wars, SMO in Ukraine veterans, Chernobyl disaster liquidators and victims, multiple children family members, disabled, veterans of labour, etc.) visits to all places of culture become free of charge, as well as public transportation, and a 50% discount on services like central heating and stuff like that. I agree with every point you made in this video. We are in the process of moving to Russia, where I'm from. My husband is also a Russian soul, he started to have a lot of problems to connect and understand other people here, even family.. I am tired of being around people in the US, but feeling like I'm alone.
What I am observing currently- thousands of families, moving to Russia from Western countries is inspiring , but I hope you all, guys, are coming not just for benefits, but you really are going to love and protect it in every possible way. Be kind, simple, hard-working and honest and this country will accept you. Your face, Eric , is closer to a Russian one, really, as it is not so arrogant. Good luck here!
@user-jg3qx6zo7w That is an important point. One of my strongest motivators to learning Russian now, and keeping the unlikely dream that I may one day move there, is my feeling about the community of Russia, it's people's soul, where I hope I could make a small positive difference there - to something I believe in. I no longer am fool enough to believe in the goodness of the US government and the oligarchs here who control all. I do however, believe in the direction of the Russian Federation. A place of sanitity in an insane western world of lies and bloodletting.
@1DrBar We need good people here, so good luck. And I'm thinking about taking a class on how to teach Russian as a foreign language:) it looks like there will be more people studying our language. I am teaching English now :)
@@АлекШев-д9ы Some of us are not much interested in "benefits" We have more comforts here than we ever really need. But what is missing here, that some hope to find in Russia is a sense of belonging to something we can believe in. A culture that has kept it's traditions and seems like one of the few sane places left in the world. I've lived in five countries up to now and have long noticed that the people who think it is simple have never moved countries and cultures before. It is always a great sacrifice and those who look for comforts and benefits often regret their choices quickly. The more one contributes to their new home the more the losses are worth the sacrifice. But one has to believe.
I wish you grace. You're a funny and good-natured guy. I respect your sincerity and honest. You're right, we don't have paradise here. But that's because all people are alive. Dear Eric, you must be informed that it's not called a shawarma. It's called "The Sacred Scroll". When getting acquainted with such an item, one must appreciate a lot of things. Namely, the Maestro himself (must be generous, yet transient), the Slap and the Smear (the former yielding balance of welcoming and taste, the latter - exuberance), the structure of the Scroll (must expedite joy to the soul, the tongue, and the abdomen), the leakiness (present, however also modest), and the proportion of Magic (the elements shallth not overpower each other, unless intended). One must also consider that the worth of the Scroll is never dependant on the appraisement. One must find their true Harbinger of excellence to reach the ultimate state of being a true adept of the Russian way of absorption of goodness.

And you know, all your points work for me (and country in currently living in). I really vibe with the values of the place I’m in, and I feel safe and accepted.
Hi, Eric! Please tell us more about your work in Russia and what opportunities there are for foreigners in general. From what I have seen on TH-cam, it seems that the only jobs available for foreigners are teaching English or blogging. But what would you like to do yourself?
If you master Russian language to any suitable level for work you can get employed in any field, maybe some critical occupations like health care and structural engineering require certification and retraining but it is the case in any country you immigrate to.
English teacher is just the most obvious opportunity. You can easily move to Russia if you work in an international company - it's the second obvious way to get a job. You can also start producing some comparative content in English for Russians in a videoblog or text materials format - and sell subscription for it, that's the third obvious way to earn for life in Russia. Tell more about your occupation and professional field, then we'll be able to build more specific and professional trajectory for you.
Russia currently is undergoing a sort of re-industrialization, working-class professions like mechanic, electrician, engineer, metalworker etc are in high demand and are paid for very well.

keep in mind that Russia is now how it is because its government felt a pressure to compete with the US, in sense of providing people with higher standards of life and consumption. so maybe the US government one day notices this trend of Americans moving to Russia and will improve infrastructure and social care for its citiznes. it's a healthy competition.

As long as you don't miss that pesky U.S. Constitution, Russia should be a good fit for you. I personally prefer the freedom to criticize my government without being in fear of being sent to the gulag and I also like that "inconvenient" 2nd Amendment so i can protect myself from others. But as the saying goes: "To each his own."
@TimBell-vb1rx My wife is an English proffesor. She has found over the last 20 or so years that American students, and thus the American people, know nothing about the constitution and what little they know they often have upside down. The most recent bill in the House, which I belive has passed the bought and paid for Senate goes against the first amedment. Since your are possibly not aware any better than most Americans, let me cut and paste if for you. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances' Now square that with recent goverment crackdown on Palestinian protesters where their "freedom of speech" has been made criminal. Of course we have never let the constitution get in the way of governemental power, but it's a nice fairy tale to repeat ad-nauseum to the infantile graduates and half formed citizens of this formerly so, so nation. But sock puppets do love to quote how free we are compared to other nations. Bombs away, for free dumb and dumbOxRacy.
You can criticize to your heart content, anything and everything. It's just we had a very serious issue with people trying to basically make a coup by saying that everything the government do is wrong and they are better. It took a lot of years for our people to understand that their promises are fake and they want nothing good for the country. That's the reaction, nothing else. If you really want to make Russia better and not take the power and make a revolt you are welcome to say anything you want, there are ton of people doing just that. We just dont tolerate betreyal. Look, these same people want for Russia to fall apart and a civil war to break, literally that's what they say.
Привет. В России воспитывают так, что обижать слабого нельзя, что влечёт за собой автоматический зашквар тому, кто обижает слабого, того перестают уважать. I think the purpose is to create image of enemies, aliens who even don't deserve to live on this planet.

Eric, you and your family are very welcomed! Of course, in Russia we have to work on a lot of things, but one thing you said is absolutely true - people try to help each other, and especially to the newcomers:) enjoy your staying!

I've lived in five countries up to now and have long noticed that the people who think it is simple have never moved countries and cultures before.
Also in some places we call Maestro Шаурмейстер (Shawarmeister).

It would be so nice to come over. Things are getting horrible here. Just getting older and my health is not that great anymore. So happy for you. 🙏❤❤❤
I suspect that the demand for English in Russia will disappear soon! But the Russian language will gain popularity all over the world!

Something I enjoy a lot more that my former job in IT ( unix and virtualization ) Unfortunately my "feedom loving" country will not let me take my pension out to Russia.
