I first watched this video 2 years ago and I said no way. Now today I look at it and I say that is doable. :) Just keep picking up your guitar every day and anyone can make good progress. Thanks Marty for all the great information and instruction over the four years I have been playing. Peace Brother.
@@elisabethseaton6521 Thanks, I only play for fun or me so there is no pressure other than what I put on myself. I'm not trying to impress the world :). Sometimes I get down on my self or I feel I should be better but thoughts like that can stop you from playing and having fun. Just keep picking up the guitar and have fun!
I've been playing guitar for something like 12 or 13 years and I still love learning new things from Marty. It's weird to think of all these songs I couldn't play after the first few years but with Marty, I feel like I can learn just about anything. It's nice having someone show you parts that can get to tricky for your ears... EVEN IF you've been playing for a long time. Marty you are the man! Let's jam together one day!
Marty, u are the best teacher bc u keep things in their simplest form. We don’t have to have it note perfect to sound great. Thats what I’ve learned from u. I also like how u call out the chord changes as they happen.
Thanks for this video Marty! Although I'm 63 years old, I decided a couple of years ago that I wanted to learn the guitar. This video (and others of yours) have made learning much more productive and fun!
I used to do drugs, I still do, but I used to too - Mitch Hedberg. Seriously though, Marty, you're by FAR my favorite youtube guitar teacher, thanks for all the great videos.
thank you marty you are so good at teaching guitar its not even funny how good you are at it. you have taught me every thing i know about guitar i wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for you. thank you very much
hey man, thanks for the help. Really appreciate it, just got my guitar this christmas and im learning alot of song because of you. I have the intro to this so far.
Put up anything from Stone temple Pilots. You are the best teacher ever man...I knew nothing 3 weeks ago, now i know more than nothing. But im having a ball!
Marty! Fantastic lesson, I find that emphasizing the string skipping isn't that important for this song, and also when your picking through that D chord I find it better to just keep picking it and hammer on the Dsus4 instead of just pick once through as Dsus4 shape, thoughts anyone? And also this is still by far the best one i've seen on youtube, keep em comin :P
Hey I just wanted to say this is my first time viewing one of your videos, wow you have an awesome way with your teaching man! Keep up the great work! I hope I can learn to play like you!
hey marty! love this song by the way ive been playin a year or so now im in the army and play when i get chance please look at my blues jam everything i play on it you taught me! if you just liked it i would be sooo happy lol
I wouldn't get a 7 string to start with...the Jackson SLATTXMG3-6 is quite nice, especially for the $550-ish guitar center sells it for. With the EMG 81/85 pickups you won't be wanting to upgrade for a while, they have excellent tone. The 3-6 also has very nice action and is easy to play, so that's a big plus for a beginner. If you want to spend a little less, the Jackson Dinky's are also really nice. And yes, you can learn on your own with videos like the one above, just start with basics!
Ha, I hear ya Marty. It's one of those awesome acoustic-friendly classic rock tunes I never really get around to. Maybe your's is the tutorial that'll propel me to do so?!
You may not know of this band cause it is an Australian band and they are called powderfinger they write amazing song and there is one song I just adore and that song is called whatever make you happy. it is truly a beautiful song and I want everybody else to hear it and it would mean the world to me if you taught us how to play it so please reply or even surprise me and even make a video
I found myself being pretty loyal and possibly to a fault by only watching Marty's videos. The couple times i did i just ended up feeling dirty afterwards .;) youre best man
Hey Marty, please oh please could you do a cover of a City and Colour song, take a look at which you prefer, Sleeping Sickness, Body in a Box or Little Hell, Thanks!
Really nice, Marty. Out of curiosity, what model Martin is it that you're playing, and what type of woods is it made of? The tone on it is very sweet and vibrant.
Hey Marty Can You Do Some (Zeppelin) or (Stones) Or (Rush) Preferably *Zeppelin*~~When The Levee Breaks PS. Marty You Rock & You Are The Best Teacher Ever To Brace The This Earth !!!!
Bravo Marty. Thanks for putting this up; one of my favorite Who songs. I see this is a brand new post and wonder if you're planning on creating a tutorial for the 2nd part of this. Belated New Years' wishes.
Buying one. They sound great but as funny as it seems, I have an 1984 Epiphone 12 string that sound really nice. Glad I held on to it. Thx Marty, I love that song by Pete Townshend, who's played it unplugged during solo concerts.

"E minor to G, and a D, D with the pinky and off, a weird C kinda thing, and an Asus2"
What beautiful lyrics this song has
yes and? I lot of shit has happened in 8 years. You won't like all of it.
Love the Asus2 chord.
Marty, u are the best teacher bc u keep things in their simplest form. We don’t have to have it note perfect to sound great. Thats what I’ve learned from u. I also like how u call out the chord changes as they happen.
Marty you rock Dude. I haven't played in 20 years but since I started watching your videos I have found a new love of guitar again. THANK YOU !!!!!
