He's not really exactly banished. Arceus created him to be like that and his existence with that of the distortion world are actually needed for the universe to stay alive. It's something about balance, but yes Giratina is supposed to represent the rebellion to order (and anti matter)

I was originally planning to redo more of the character art, but I'm more of an environment artist than a character artist. I toyed with both 2D redraws of the originals and 3D recreations (coincidentally, a very similar style to what we saw in the remake trailer a few days after I posted this) but neither really worked out for me.

Nice work! I love how 3D Sinnoh backgrounds with 2D sprites look, I also love GIRATINA appearing in the Distortion World portal and I like the Starter Pokémon & Cyrus redrawing, the GAME FREAK Logo and some details like the clouds in the upper to lower screen transition. However, there are some few details I noticed that I think could be better. Those light particles in 0:23 moved faster in the original intro, I didn't like them moving slower. 2D Poké Balls turning 3D feels a little odd, at least for me. The 3D Pokémon renders (EMPOLEON & TORTERRA) feel strange, but I'm not sure if it's because of the poses or because the trainers are 2D sprites. Now this last details is not about visuals, but about music: Pokémon Platinum has the same opening theme from Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, but has a different Start screen music (The one that sounds when GIRATINA and the "Press Start" string appear). Despite of this, this reanimation is very well done.
This is a neat project. I think the textures and geometry are a bit at odds with each other, some looking far too realistic for the type of style they're going for. I think cohesion is perhaps the most important part of an art style, even if some parts look very good, the odd bits distract from the overall work. Still, props for the work put in, and it's hard to reimagine something that both looks similar but is unique from it's original design. I also appreciate your pinned comment regarding not dragging down others work to compliment another. I certainly think that would make me feel worse about my personal projects as the intent was not to spit upon someone else. I'd love to see a remake of this video a few years from now and see how much you've improved upon your technique.
I'll let you in on a little behind the scenes secret. I initially did it with Infernape, but didn't know how to do fire at the time, so I swapped them out. No bias here, I love all 3 of the starter lines in Sinnoh! That said, Empoleon can appear in the games intro, while it seems that it's always Torterra Vs Infernape, if you sit on the title screen and let it run the intro through again, one of them will get swapped out for Empoleon on the second time.
Awesome~ I always wondered why Looker and Charon, two characters who can't be battled, have battle sprites. Maybe there was some early version where this was planned and it got cut but they didn't want to lose the sprites.
Yep, I released this just a few days before BDSP were announced and was so happy to see them. They pretty much nailed what I had wanted to do if I had more time and energy.
I'd want to play Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl MUCH more if it had graphics like that. I just love seeing pixel characters in a detailed 3D environment.
Bare in mind, the remakes are running in real time and there's still a good while before it comes out. My recreation is running with full ray-tracing and 100's of thousands of individually rendered blades of grass and took almost a week to output the video (taking 8 minutes to render a single frame in some places), even on a pretty powerful computer. I don't think it's a fair comparison.

While this looks cool, it looks unbalanced and foreign.
The lighting if very dark. While parts are better most parts just clash with each other.
