    I suffered from preeclampsia and my son was born at in 2019 at 28 weeks. He weighed 1 lb 14 oz but was 13 inches long. We stayed at the NICU for 7 1/2 months fast forward to today he is a healthy and we're about to celebrate his 2nd birthday.
    It's truly a blessing.

      Same for my daughter exact weight and suffered from preeclampsia as well, born September 2019. What a blessing to know your son is doing wonderful 🙏😊

    I was born at 28 weeks, just over a pound. 9 inches long. I looked like a skinned rabbit and could fit in the palm of my dads hand. This was over 50 years ago and I am still going strong. Best of luck!

      For being born 50 years ago at that stage of development, you are a miracle. My wife was born at 25 or 26 weeks gestation weighing 2 lbs 13 oz.. 59 years ago. You are both very lucky and very determined.

      I was born 3 months early,at 800 grams and i am also a perfectly healthy 13 yr old girl turning 14 in December.We are both miracles! Miracles are rare.

    The daddy praying and crying for his baby was so precious! He’s going to be a wonderful father! And mom and grandma they are going to be the best mom & grandma. I imagine that sweet baby having it all. I hope the parents are able to work out their feeling for each other. It’s obvious they loved the baby.

    My grandson was born at 23 weeks gestation weighing in at 1.2 pounds. The doctors did not expect him to live. I’m happy to say he’s almost 5 and doing great. He’s been promoted from pre k to first grade because he is so advanced.

      It’s not that men don’t easily cry it’s that society teaches men that they shouldn’t so they grow up feeling the need to suppress their emotions. But I 100% agree about him being super caring and supportive

    My son was born 6 weeks early at 4 lbs 11 oz. He's a perfectly healthy 15 year old straight A student now. He's my angel.

      I can relate. My boys were both born between 8 and 9 weeks early. The oldest was 3 lb 9 oz and my second (who had a little bit more time in there) was 5 lb 2 oz. Both so healthy, strong and smart.

      In 1983, I gave birth to my son who was 8 weeks early and was 4 and a half pounds. I lost 8 pounds in that pregnancy. He is now 38 years old with a wife and 2 children. He is also 6ft tall and 300lbs. He didn’t stay tiny at all.

      Thank you for sharing these in the comment section. I just gave birth to my little angel last friday thru emergency CS. She’s 5 weeks early, weigh 4 lbs 18 oz. I dont know how long needs to stay in NICU. I felt so depress because of her situation. I worry a lot about her physical and mental well-being. I was afraid she might not be able to live a healthy and normal life as most full-term does. Having read your comments give me a positive outlook about her future

      Also, it is really beneficial to spend as much time as possible with your little one. I know that can be hard though depending on whether you have other children, what hospital policies are (especially with covid restrictions) and so on. I was with my oldest almost 24/7 but my youngest sometimes had very short visits because it was flu/rsv season so child visitors weren't allowed plus having had a c-section I had to get a ride.

    I recently gave birth to my baby boy 3 months early. He weighed 2lbs 11oz. They took him away right away because they needed to make sure he was OK. We were at 2 different NICU'S because my local hospital was not equipped delivery that early. Most terrifying experience and I feel for any mother out there who experiences this. My baby boy is now almost 5 months old and is doing amazing!

    This is so similar what happened to me. I delivered at 25 weeks. One pound ten ounces. She’s a beautiful twelve year old now. Man this episode brought back lots of memories.

    My daughter was born at 26 weeks and weighed 2 pounds 1 ounce. She lived for 17 beautiful days. She would still be here if not for a MRSA infection that took her sweet precious tiny little life.

      Amber, I am so sorry for your loss. That seems particularly cruel, to have survived her early birth but then succumb to MRSA. As you said 17 beautiful days, and I’m guessing a lot of love for your baby girl❤

    I have a twin sister and we were both born at 24 weeks. I was 1 pound 4 ounces and my sister was 1 pound 5 ounces. We were both hooked up to multiple machines and couldn’t breathe on our own. It’s a miracle that we are both okay with 0 disabilities and actually are both in advanced classes. We are now 19 and very healthy. ❤️

    I had a baby at 23 weeks weighing 1lb. 1oz. 11in. 💜 She wasn't supposed to make it and Dr's. kept asking me to turn off the life support. I refused and thank goodness because she's my crazy, sassy, smart, ans beautiful 3 year old 💜💜

    You will be surprised how small a child can be born, and survive. I was 2lbs and was in incubator for a really long time. I was under developed, had a hard time breathing, and more. You could hold me in the palm of one hand. I was 1 when I went home. I'm in my 30's and have two of my own. So miracles happen big and small.

    my daughter nicole was born 6 weeks early i went into labor and had her at home... she blessed me for 4 months but died of sids at almost 5 months old... i love her and miss her every day of my life 💕

    I don't understand how they go from telling her she's pregnant at an ultrasound to not immediately having follow-up on mother's health. Blood pressure could have been taken then and there (or at the worst, nearby at a pharmacy). Blood tests run. The ultrasound technician should have measured the baby's size when they realised the situation 😒

      TinaMfam no, these types of tests are done regularly on all pregnant women, despite risk factors. Ruined tests, blood pressure, blood work, etc

      I had a normal visit and 3 days later I got dizzy and was throwing up and it turned out to be preeclampsia. So it can happen in a few days, especially if there is a lot of stress

      I'm certain the actual doctors in the situation did--this is a TV show. They cut out the boring parts of the interview where the person talks about the blood tests and talking about vitamins and all that, and they wouldn't bother filming a reenactment.

    At least she found out before going into labor so the baby didn't take her by surprise, well not that much anyways. Many of the women on this show find out they're pregnant when they're already going into labor😬

      My niece didn't know she was pregnant until a week before she gave birth. She's not the brightest thing on the planet. She thought she was constipated and thought the Braxton-Hicks contractions were bellyaches from the laxatives she was taking. 🙄

    A friend of mine had her son two months early. He was only 2lbs when he was born. Apart from learning difficulties and ADHD he is a happy energetic boy. He turns 7 in june

    One of my twins was only 3lbs15oz. She had growth restrictions and we had to do the c-section early because she stopped growing. Her twin sister was 5lbs7oz. They are doing great. They walked at 9 and 10 months. The larger twin walked first but her sister wasn’t far behind.

    My baby girl Laila Rose was due 6/21/20 and was born 3/18/20 @ 26wk 3day gestation. She was 1lb 13 oz., now at 13mon(10 corrected) she is 21 lbs. Definitely a miracle and blessing. I moved into her NICU room for 4 months until she could come home with me . I'm so thankful, so so grateful!

    My pregnancy tests were negative throughout my pregnancy. I knew I was pregnant though. I also had pre-eclampsia. It's the scariest thing to hear.

      When I was 19 yrs old married and pregnant in those days you were bed rest with high blood pressure,bandaged legs arms I spent 6 weeks at home like this,my waist was 36 inches ,I had c section elongated baby ,one foot pushing down like crazy beastly painful,she weighed in 7lbs 11 and half pounds , isolated for 2 weeks in ICU as she had just enough blood to survive but she's 45 yrs old and has 2 boys ,her first arrived a day after being told your having a baby..

      @@annabellaflores5885 extreme nausea,vomiting,that you can't even drink water. You need to be hospitalized mostly through out your pregnancy months. But obviously pre-eclampsia has some levels..

    I had my son when I was 35. I had gestational diabetes. My son was 4 lbs 2 0z. He is 26 years old now healthy and I have 2 Grandsons. It will be okay.

    Both my twin sons were 4 lbs each. No birth defects. No need for NICU. Now both stand around 6 foot each and are both marines.

    My niece was born full term and was about 4.5 pounds. She had some muscle tone issues because she was so small but she caught up. Shes 18 months now and going strong

    I was pregnant on my third baby. Had a scan at two months--- one baby and all ok. At five months on my next routine scan i was told i was having twins. SHOCK. They are in their 40's now.

    My first was born exactly one month early. She weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces. She was kept a week in the hospital. My daughter was born the day after my 20th birthday. I was so scared being a young first time mom. She's now a healthy beautiful 33 year old mom herself

    I was born 2 pounds 3oz and I stayed in the ICU for 6 months and my mom said I was very tiny and sick but made a recovery over time

    4lbs 13 oz is a BIG preemie. Not knowing the gestational age was the big problem.

    I was born 1 pound and 4 ounces, I wasn't expected to survive at all and they said if I did I'd either be a vegetable or wheelchair bound and never be able to think or do anything for myself. I had a rough beginning but I can safely say I proved the doctors wrong and am a healthy 23 year old :)

    I'm a triplet with 2 boys, we were 3 months early I was 2lb and my brothers were 1lb and 2lbs. We all survived and are 17 turning 18 on October 14❤️❤️

    When I read tiny baby I was expecting like a 2lb baby. My son was 4lbs 12 oz when he was born. Definitely small but not the smallest ..

    my mum got preeclampsia too and she had me at 32 weeks. i was 3lbs 7oz, they said i’d be very small and have learning difficulties. i’m 5”7, i achieve top grades in my studies and i’m about to turn 19 :)

      It's possible to have protection and still get pregnant because sometimes theres an accident that you might not have noticed at the time 👍🏻

    How does a scientist not know what last trimester means? And a baby that tiny would have been taken to NICU. There's a lot of inconsistencies in this particular story

      My baby was born 4lbs and 12oz but they didn't take him to the NICU. As long as the baby is healthy and can hold their body heat, NICU isn't required.

      There are many fields of science that have Nothing to do with biology or anatomy. Also, she may have just not paid much attention to high school courses that would have covered pregnancy. Gaps in the knowledge base of even brilliant people do happen.

    I had similar experience, i never knew I was pregnant until in my third trimester and had my baby 5days after I learnt i was a pregnant. Baby is healthy and doing well

    My daughter was about the same. 4.9lbs despite being full term. It’s known as growth restriction, usually caused by placental issues or other issues such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes or genetic issues. My daughter was perfectly healthy, just tiny! ❤️

      term and weighted 4lbs 6ozs apparently I hadn’t been feeding her while she was in the womb . She was perfect and healthy . She’s grown up now has a family of her own .

      Hcg levels are not detectable on the third trimester on otc pregnancy tests.

      False negatives are rare but they can happen either too early or late in pregnancy.

    When it said tiny baby I wasn't expecting it to be that big... Mine were 2lb and 1lb8..... So it was a bit of a shock to me..I was expecting a micro preemie.. . I am glad everything turned out ok

    My daughter was born at 3 lbs 15 oz and had to spend a month in NICU. Being separated from her was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But I'm so blessed that she turned out to be a fighter and just turned 9.

      Almost 5 lbs.. not that "incredibly tiny". My daughter was born a healthy 5 lb 13oz, only 1 lb difference.

    When I was a baby my parents flew to NZ from Australia to show me to my paternal family, when we were over there although mum was still in size 8 jeans (tiny) she realized that her belly was rock-hard so she was worried and went to a Dr's - where she was informed that she was 6.5 months pregnant (there is 14 months between me and that sister) so we had to stay in New Zealand until my sister was born.

    Incredibly tiny 4 lb. 13 oz. girl? I was that exact size when I was born in the early 1960's. I was totally fine. Went home 3 days after I was born. Sure, every birth is a miracle, but isn't this a bit overly dramatized?

    My son was born at 40 weeks and 5 days, he was 4lbs 10oz. Perfectly healthy, just small. I am only 4’11 and 90lbs so we didn’t think he would be huge but he was real small haha. He is 2 now and still in the 1%
