Theory: When Reggie was alive he had a younger brother and always took care of him whenever their parents were fighting (cause Luke said his parents were a fight away from a divorce), that's why he loves hanging out with Carlos he reminds Reggie of his younger brother. Reggie's parents always worked a lot but when they were at home all they ever did was fight, that's why he loves to hangout with Ray he was like the dad he never had.
Reggie's entire face when he first sees Ray. it's both heart wrenching and heartwarming. like, he instantly realised *this* right here is what a good dad looks like. the fact that he's only just learning this is sad.
I remember at one point, I think in the second last or last episode, Reggie says that they (Alex and Luke) are the only family he has, which is true in a sense that his parents had moved away and the geographic location of his neighborhood was no more, but it is also sad to think that maybe he had absent parents or parents that didn't care much. So seeing how he wants to bond with Ray was so sweet.
Im pretty sure Ray is probably the brother of Reggie. I mean- he always wants to hang out with him, they are alike. He either forgot, or he thinks hes just seeing stuff. Because hes sees stuff with Julies mom.
