Diorama is one of the greatest albums of all time. The first time I listened to it I put some big headphones on, closed my eyes and listened to it from start to finish and I felt like I went on a musical rollercoaster of emotions. The melodies, the harmonies, the arrangements…it’s all absolutely stunning. Songs like ‘One Way Mule’ and ‘The Lever’ tho are a good reminder that Diorama is actually Silverchair’s heaviest album

Watching your evolution as a drummer on this album gave me the courage to get out from my comfort zone and to be bolder and braver in my own songwriting and drumming. You taught me to embrace the things that made my drumming unique. That it was ok to be funky or to play softer when the song required it or to get more clever with ghost notes. And that's why I rock 🥁 Thanks again for doing these videos!
Diorama is an absolute masterpiece. I think my favourite song off it is The Lever, but I really enjoy listening to One Way Mule too! I rock because I want to create albums like Diorama in the future, albums that take concepts considered "normal" and completely flips them on their head. These videos give me insight into how to do it better myself! Thank you for the insight into some truly legendary songs, Ben.
When you reference the band “locking in together”, that’s something that I really remember from the many live Silverchair shows I went to over the years. There was something magic there between the 3 members, definitely not normal.
I rock because I'm a single father of 3 kids and also a teenage stepson and I have got my old Covers band back together! 😎 I'm also turning 40 this year and have been listening to Silverchair since Frogstomp!
Awesome song. I rock because Im a lefty drummer since 9yrs old my 39th birthday is tom. Grew up listening to silverchair tunes. I use to play water jugs filled with pennies and a tennis ball on top (actually had a snare sound) until got my 1st kit. Now got 2 little kids of my own and still jam as much as I can. Love the videos ben breaking down some of my fav silverchair songs

I rock because I do love hearing a great low B being utilised on a guitar, when it’s in standard but a low B so Badgbe so it’s emulating a 7 string having the low 5th in the bass. Nothing normal about this tracks with only bands like Sound Garden using this on rusty cage and Audioslave on Gasoline.
I'm a loyal fan and I rock I was having the time of my life rocking out to the band at the 2002 Auckland big day I was heaven when you guys played the greatest view just one of the 3 times I got to see the band play here in Newzealand
I rock because I am able to enjoy musical masterpieces such as this song and spread the joy to others by covering songs from amazing aussie bands such as Silverchair. I hope to create my own classics in due time, until then, every day is an adventure in music
some people may forget there's a couple of pretty heavy songs on Diorama... I would have liked to see silverchair develop this even further... much more intricate than the early heavy stuff.

I rock because I managed to meet Ben back in 1995 in Amsterdam during their first tour before soundcheck with Everclear, shared a bbq with Ben, Chris, Heath and John at the Lowlands because I told security I was in the band, ended up second (!) in the Freak contest by TMF Netherlands in 1997 (no prize!!) , been a longtime LAS member (sending Ozzie money by mail to LAS, no internet wire back then!) and ended up in his Yesteryear video a cool 25 years later. And I drum… How’s THAT for commitment being a longtime fan! And oh yeah… because of Silverchair I started my own band, played supports for Machine Head, Ill Nino, Soulfly and did a guest appearance at Ozzfest 2002. So you can’t deny I rock and could use that Sabian! Hahaha

I rock because at my 47 I still enjoy Silverchair's songs as the first time I heard "Tomorrow" in that Summer of 95, because I play guitar (even in this Reggeaton's Era), because I have long hair despite of the head banging every time I play guitar, and finally, I rock because I always start my concerts with Silverchair "Freak". Thanks Ben for this work I enjoy a lot, and for being NORMAL even when you are a STAR.

Ben during the Frogstomp, Freakshow and Neon Ballroom era in live performances you used the drums with trigger, I know you used a model from DDrum but it would be really cool if you made a video talking about what the model was and what the preset you use in live performances !

I rock because I produce and record my own records. I play all the instruments and I have a tiny studio set up in garage. That cymbol would get so much love in my studio. My music is a mix of psychedelic rock,throat singing, world beats and pop.

I think I rock because on the silverchair Diorama tour I got you to play One way Mule. me and my mates kept requesting (screaming for) One Way Mule, in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. You eventually played it. Don't think you played it anywhere else in Europe!
Really enjoying your analysis of what you played. It does make me more introspective about songs I had recorded when I was young. Still don't know why I rock. I think I may have to ask others. Anyway, I do think I just play hard, to the song and try to not overplay it. NORMAL cheers

The tribal part was always very interesting to me. Very inspired choice. It almost feels like we’re rewinding the tape, going back to the chorus.
