I had one of these. My first mesa. Great amp! Sold to a friend and he still plays it regularly. I got a five/twenty five head with two twelve recto cab now. Of course like every piece of gear you get rid of you eventually want it back.
Tone is in his fingers too. He has great chops, and plays very well. Practice made Nikolay. Some people just have it, but the Boogies help to a great extent, If you don't have the chops like Nikolay, then you're just blowing hot air. I just looked at my guitar after hearing this, and my Guitar Laughed at me.
I have the Rocket 440 (4x10") combo. It is heavy as hell but sounds like gold. That contour channel is sick. It's like breathing air for the first time.
@@realtruenorth you can see in this video, it's pretty versatile. I love the dirty tones it gets. With my Les Paul plugged directly into the amp, with no additional effects, I can get forever sustain into singing feedback.
The early Boogies...Mark 1 etc, I remember hearing at concerts having great reverb...Carlos in the earlier 70's, with the original Boogies had the same amazing reverb regardless of the venues where I heard him. I know he played loud on stage and maybe it takes playing them loud to get that musical reverb decay he used so well. BTW, great playing on this video and I love all the tones you used. The Reverb Rocket is capable of getting a good clean Hendrix / Marshall tone...and that is impressive.
Found 1 for 430.00 last night on craigslist like new. Gonna go grab it. Thanks for the demo video, I always thought they were one of those heavy metal amplifiers.
Nice to hear a boogie demo with someone who knows how to play and highlights the cleans as well as the lovely overdrive....and no drop D.......thanks christ
Nice harmonic distortion,- that's why i bought a quad preamp. I use it with an old peavey classic stereo power amp that has a warm EL84 timbre. thanx for demo & rock on, Andreas
Cleans are nice, but the overdrive tone is even better. Nice blues/rock genre of lead playing. The noodling solos almost sound like what Joe Perry could have been if he practiced more and did less partying.
@@NikolayKarageorgiev No worries Nik. I play a similar style ( Classic Hard Rock ) and appreciate when I hear someone with good chops and tone.If you don't already, you should start writing and recording some instrumental stuff. I'm sure it would be interesting.
I've owned one of these for many years.. Gotta remember the middle control is also an extra gain control. My Les Paul Standard sounds like pure dirt. This amp benefits from tweaking depending what guitar you use. Apparently difficult fix! One famous repair shop had it for weeks & couldn't fix it. Someone else managed to fix a noisy effects loop. Heavy amp runs very hot.. I had a Princeton but got rid of it. Like comparing a Labrador to a Rottweiler. Buy one!!
Holy cow your volume is up pretty high and thats the 44. My 20 watt one would be tearing my head off... are you doing something so you can turn it up and its not crazy loud?
I have the same amp. I like it, but I find it tough to dial in a sound that is warm is usable. Seems like it want's to go high gain all the time in the OD channel. Tough to play anything less than hard rock. But I don't have the great feel like you do, love it.
Nice tone indeed, i play with the same combo but never reached that presence in medium frequencies. is it possible to give some pick up advice ? (PRS Se Custom 24 - 2 humbuckers)
Приветствую. Взял себе такой же подержанный. Присутствуют щелчки при переключении каналов. Говорят, меса подавители не делала в те времена. Так ли это? У вас было все гладко, без щелчков изначально?
Hallo, I didn't pay attention, mostly play on the clean channel with pedals. Will check next time I play! Sorry I do understand russian a bit, but cant write unfortunately ! Best regards!
Excellent Demo--thank you, been very curious about this amp. What speaker(s) were you using. BTW--a lot of Mesa amp reverb is very lame, but their effects loop is great for adding reverb/delay in.
Kessler103 it came with 4 Jensen vintage alnico 10 inch speakers. It is not a super loud amplifier (I think because of the speakers) but it sounds great for blues, rock, clean/ overdriven guitars. Not really for hard rock or metal.
6:42 just coming back to listen ... How are you achieving the feel at that time stamp like any references to specific note selection or scales from which position etc ?
sweet warm crankin tone! . . does anyone know is there a rectifier tube in this? . . what tubes? . . what is the weight? broke my right shoulder and two ribs . . norco 5!
it's really nice to hear someone play some clean jazzy stuff on a mesa in addition to the shreddy metal and hard rock tones!

Holy Shi..... This started as a little check on yt to see how one of these sounded, it's left me feeling inspired. Very tasty playing bro
Fantastic chops. Great tone and taste. You made a sometimes harsh amp sound better than anyone I've heard. Bravo!
Bob Boisclair thank you! !

Hell YES! MY 3rd one of these comes in tomorrow and I'll NEVER let go of one of these again. These little amps are tone monsters!!
The playing and the amp sounds good👍

I have a question, can this 44 rocket sound like a Fender Blues Jr?
@@realtruenorth not sure I've ever played one of those.
@@daviddemaria3982 oh ok, it does a Fender 50's tweed

What a deal! Just bought one yesterday from guitar center for 599 and it is NOT in new condition!! 😂

Wow,.. sounds so damn good
i have the same, in my case it doesn't. His fingers make the difference
Great tone and Playing !!!!!
There's a subway rocket for sale locally, it's 20 watts but look exactly like this one.
Thinking of going for it!
Very good demo. Thanks

NICE JOB!
Tasty leaks! A serious player here.
I have one of these, great underestimated amp, Reverb is its only let down....
I agree, the reverb is much too shallow.
ok i'm gonna buy this amp, thanks.
Great playing.
Thanks
lovely! was that a bit of mahavishnu?
I have a 4 forty -(4x10 with tremelo) in Australia , I've never seen another one,
Thanks! Yes!

Thanks Niko Sounds Good
I'm a Nikolay fan now!
Nothing like Mesa boogie

Not on this video, but normally I am using a reactive attenuator . Cheers

For the early one sure!

Hallo, sm57. Cheers!
@@NikolayKarageorgiev Thank you. Absolutely stunning tone.
Killer tone! I am looking to get one on Ebay. What cabinet are you using? 2x12 or 4x12? Thanks,Mike
These are a 1x12 combo with C90 Celestion Black Shadow.
ahahah
god damn
@Nikolay_Karageorgiev does it sound boxy, being a small amp?
Not so much like others I had! Cheers
don't think any amp sounds bad with that playing
I just picked one up on CL even my cheap ass guitar sounds good through it, will be even better when i get something decent to run through it LOL!!!!
I have the same amp too did you modify your amp like different tubes?
Cande Montanez hi, no it's all stock
Wow what a great Demo Niko ?? Are Plug in Straight to the Amp . Without Miking it? Sounds great Man.
Hi thanks, there is a mic, you can't see it. Cheers
You keep the reverb pegged at 10 throughout this whole video? Wow, you're right that's weak.
жесткий звук, играешь хорошо,
джаз не нравится
Thanks
