imo dealing with nodes in fusion is much more satisfying. you can either add a transform node at the end of your tree or a use a display transform directly on a window. I don’t for a second regret ditching layers in AE, but also premier and encoder but that’s just me
You can save an Image as 32 bit exr and import it to Photoshop with the exr io Plugin and then modify it with the cameraRAW filter( only Order versions of camera raw filter are compatible. In that way i can adjust the linear output to clamp the darks and lows to my desire. No aces required. That’s my workflow and as long as aces is not implemented more userfriendly, i will do it that way. Great video as always though.
One question -In the end you rendered the fully baked .jpg image, now if i try to import it back for overlapping purpose with "Rgb preserved values" it should be similar right . (just asking as it feels right way to test the process) - and after above step if we add ocio plugin and same setting again without exposure will it ruin the tone? as i have tried to repeat the Plugin on the layer after importing in after effect with preserved RGB values and it sort of ruined the tone, this was supposed to be happening , RIGHT? as i think remaping ACES on any previous result of ACES will result in more mapped image. repeating of convertsion of ACES file again will cause more color tone changes(like it is not going to act like there is no change left to be done) ?
I have found it much easier to add adjustment layer on top. I call it gamma fix and i put a colour profile covert effect. I use this to apply an inverted gamma to remove srgb. This is much easier than going to 4 or 5 different place in ae to turn off all the colour management
That is correct, as said in the end of the video there are multiple ways to do it. From my perspective the shown way is the most easiest to understand from a logical perspective though but it requires a little more setup as AE prefers to work in sRGB by default.
that ocio-config-file... I have scrubbed through your video 10 times now to see where you got it, but nops. You just have it with the words "...where I have it downloaded..." I don't have time to listen to all those words (they're quite a lot of words), and I get it that this is my problem here. But still, you could do this video in 4 seconds instead of 14 minutes. Just sayin'. :)
Well one could would argue that the majority of people who use AfterEffects are not really working in Aces for Motiongraphics and so on. However I agree with what you said...
@@JonasNoell Sure, I just think Adobe needs to step up their game. It seems so inefficient. And it is the year 2022 now. As soon as I have some money left I'll buy a DaVinci Resolve Studio license. Resolve chomps through 75MB per frame EXR sequences like it's nothing.

yah but what about OCIO's configration file?
Buddy, you have unique videos on youtube with a lot of subtleties that few people know, and that help me every time!
This is an excellent video! Explained so clearly, so gracefully. Good job!
Immensely helpful. Danke!
Glad it helped!
very useful and easy to understandable tutorial sir! helped a lot.
Very nice - easy to understand
I would love to see a version of this for Davinci. I've been thinking about switching from After Effects.
Don't really have access to DaVinci but I'm sure it should work there as well somehow :-)

Yeah I would love to know the correct workflow for BM Fusion & Davinci, if anyone finds a tutorial please let me know! Thanks
Hi Sir, If we exporting as a video file, we have to use Quicktime->Animation or Quicktime-Apple 444 format?

Is the final picture weird?
Pretty weird :-D
Voce é um DEUS THANKS
Very nice!
The OCIO presets are different on the sample files provided by OpenColorIO, are the ones you are using custom or available for download? thanks.
I just downloaded through the OpenColorIO website, maybe by now it was changed but I didn't do anything custom...
where in the world is the aces download page? it's impossible to find
The link is literally in the video description
thanks

Sometimes a look in the video description does help :-)
All I want to know is how to do this and take footage to Premier Pro
Make it in Nuke please :3 Ur videos are great !
Will look into it!
What is your workflow
I just showed it, didn't I?
It is insane that After Effects still doesn't really support Aces out of the box.
