I love Scream Bloody Gore just like everybody else, but it's just crazy to think it's their best album
First one I thought about was Dismember 🔥
Same.
Hi. Totaly agree on Scream Bloody Gore! And the other death metal classic in this video should be Left Hands Path 🙃
Imagine having two left hands.
Definitely do a part 2 please!
You are right about Ahab. Not only is the debut their best, it's one of the best and heaviest albums ever made, both musically and conceptually. 👌
In The Nightside Eclipse
I actually think every Emperor album is outstanding and unique.
Nope
Now this I can get behind!
Deicide, Dismember, Entombed, Dissection, Necrophobic, Exodus, Morbid Saint, Morbid Angel. Sure there are more bands that I can't think of right now.
Deicide and Morbid Angel is spectacularly wrong.
Morbid Angel - Alters Of Madness
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Dismember - Like An Overflowing Stream (love all albums though)
Agalloch - Pale Folklore
Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
I wanna say don’t break the oath is better but Melissa is fantastic too so I can’t argue 🐒
I'll take Covenant over Altars of Madness. Leprsoy is way better than Scream Bloody Gore. Ashes Against the Grain and The Mantle are far superior to Pale Folklore.
@@Questformetal Agreed.
Great video! One album that comes to my mind is the 2000 self-titled debut by Killswitch Engage
Deicide and Machine Head spring to mind, and I'm a massive fan of the first Carcass album too.
At some point you should do a video on bands who have a first EP so iconic it could be classed as their debut album (cough cough Mayhem)
I was thinking about something like this "Bands where the first EP is their best". I will say only two: Sodom's In the Sign of Evil and Gehenna's First Spell.
Queensryche EP is legendary.
@Metaltalk41 Destruction: Sentence of Death, Gehhena: First Spell, Emperor: Emperor, Suffocation: Human Waste
My dudeman Questy! Please rank Stratovarius! It's been promised to us for 4 years!
Machine Head - Burn My Eyes
Swallow the Sun - The Morning Never Came
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Epica - The Phantom Agony
Down - NOLA
That's all I can think of.
My Brother released some great first offerings from Gallows, Feed The Rhino, Sylosis etc on In at the deep end records along with the Send more Paramedics.
I agree about Scream Bloody Gore. I'm really not much for the rest of the discog, but that first album is thrashy and fun.
u got a brother in me at Death and Candlemass
Speaking of Ahab, my father had a "salt gun" for a few years as I was growing up. We used to joke that he disarmed people with his desalination plant -- it was hilarious. It's almost like a horse walking backwards.
I'd go for Disillusion's Back to Times of Splendor
Motionless In White and Beast In Black
I’m glad you didn’t include Ghost because I think Meliora is their best album 😅
Meliora is the best by far!
Debut for meeeeee
DIO - Holy Diver
I also agree with suffocation
Big Black "Atomizer", Agnostic Front "Victim In Pain", Malevolent Creation "The ten Commandments", Morbid Angel "Altar of madness"
I agree 100% about Scream Bloody Gore being Death's best album, but that is because I personally prefer the classic death metal sound to the more progressive Death. I love all Death albums but it's just a preference.. so, I get it. You aren't alone.
I made this comment before finishing the video, and I also agree with you about your Mayhem and Candlemass choices. Great video, even if we disagree on a few.
Fear Factory "Soul of a new machine" It was a bomb when it came out, the singing was powerful, which they didn't repeat on the following albums, I've been listening to it for 30 years... never equaled.
Probably my 8th favourite album from them, it's amazing don't get me wrong but I don't think they had fully figured out their sound at that point imo. I can't believe you'd say the singing sounds weak compared to albums like Demanufacture wnd Machanize, Burtons vocals became more unique and interesting after SOANM
Emperor- In the nightside eclipse
Ulver- Bergtatt
Gorgoroth- Pentagram
Masters hammer- Ritual
Satyricon- Dark medieval times
Sarcofago- INRI
Remember when Messiah's hair was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame, and he got so jealous he threatened to straighten it? My uncle was a journalist who reported on that story, and it took him all day to stop laughing long enough to write the piece. It was that hilarious.
Sepultura Morbid Visions
Mayhem, Emperor, Satyricon, Kampfar, Einherjer, Old Man's Child, Ancient.
How do people get mad at having Scream Bloody Gore as the best Death album? Every album is valid.
Also, Candlemass!
I shall go and listen to alls of jericho to compare with the keeper!
The only one I would disagree with is Candlemass otherwise spot on for all of these
W.A.S.P. for sure
Several bands come to mind for this:
Gorguts - Considered Dead
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Angel Witch - Angel Witch
Funeral - Tragedies
Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet
The 2 latest Funeral albums
are better than anything they’ve
released before.
Formula's Fatal to the flesh is way better than Alters come on
First Burzum is my favorite.
I love de Mysteriis but I have to put Chimera as their best!
Absu & Primordial
Im a huge death fan of the last 4 albums, the first 3 don't do too much for me...
I have an easy one, A Sceptic's Universe by Spiral Architect lol
Ceremonial Oath - The Book of Truth
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Cianide - The Dying Truth
I agree with Death and Mayhem. You can also add Dark Angel, Death Angel, and Exodus.
no way is "we have arrived" better than "darkness descends"
@ my mistake. Darkness Descends is the best one. I forgot about We have arrived.
Suffocation are credited for helping create the Slam Brutal Death sound/scene.
Artichoke is the only vegetable that screams when you touch it.
Death Angel, Unanimated, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Unleashed, Sacramentum, Eucharist,
Yep, Unanimated made a good album
in 1993. Most people always praise their 1995 sophomore.
In addition to those you mentioned, I would say Agatus - Dawn Of Martyrdom, Enslaved- Vikingligr Veldi, Enthroned - Prophecies Of Pagan Fire, Gorgoroth- Pentagram, Mork Gryning - Tusen Ar Har Gatt, Naglfar - Vittra(SWD) and Nagelfar(GER)- Hünengrab im Herbst.
Now, I couldn't disagree more on your Rotting Christ's best album choice, mine is Triarchy of the Lost Lovers by far.
Empyruim “ a winter sun set”
Opeth - Orchid
nah man, come on now
Wintersun first clears anything else without breaking a sweat
Death improved with every album IMO.
I forgot Dodheimsgard "krone til tongue"
Katatonia - Dance Of December Souls ; perfect death doom, after it's not the same group
Guns N' Roses, Morbid Angel, and Exodus also come to mind. Tempting to say Suicidal Tendencies as well. Also S.O.D.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Guns N’ Roses one should be just a fact lol anyone who says otherwise should be locked away 💀
@@Questformetal I'm a well documented Guns N' Roses fan... but yeah, Appetite is the clear winner in their discography lmao
Guns and Roses only have one good album - the first one.
In a world where Def Leppard exists - GnR is just a skippable band
Very Hot take: if use your illusion was trimmed down to a single record of the best 12-14 songs it would be as good as appetite.
@@asafoetidajones8181 yknow what, I fuck with that
Naglefar “ Hunengrab im herbst”
Six feet unders first album is a good example lol
3 arguably 4 good albums back to back then just a straight nosedive until undead and unborn
More rock than metal for this topic. Outside of Machine Head, most metal hands need an album or two to find their prime sound. On the rock side you have KISS, The Doors, The Cars ...
Scream Bloody Gore is fantastic, but it's not close to the likes of Human, Individual Thought Patterns, Leprosy, or The Sound of Perseverance. Pierced From Within is easily Suffocation's best album. Effigy of the Forgotten has to be one of the most overrated death metal albums ever.
It’s my all time favourite death metal album so I’ll disagree ;) respectfully of course but I can see why a lot of people will choose the other albums as it’s an evolution of their sound
@@Questformetal We all have different tastes but I respect your opinion and I love the channel. Cheers!
Even Leprosy, the album after has a bigger cult following than "SBG", all the Death fanboys ive known decades past and in my youth were Leprosy worshippers, dont know where anyone get "SBG" wins here, I mean come on.
@@Questformetal Didn't you say in another video that your favorite death metal album was Those Whom the Gods Detest or am I confused?
Agreed.
Hard disagree with "Scream Bloody Gore", im not even a Death fanboy diehard, and even I know that's their weakest, Leprosy and Spiritual Healing blows it out of the water, I don't understand how this made it on here. Dork Funeral is lame so they're all on equal grounds, Mayhem?? meh(its the only album worth listening to anyways) but that first Rotting Christ record is a winner for sure. My list:
Cultes Des Ghoules - Haxan
Deicide - Deicide
Mortuary Drape - All the Witches Dance
Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty (I like this era of Sodom so its #1 for me)
Possessed - Seven Churches
Negative Plane - Et In Saecula Saeculorum
Nastrond - Totesalut
But the absolute winner in my book is "Setherial - Nord..." , hands down the perfect example of a good debut.
Aquilus-Griseus imo
These come to mind. Now I'm curious for yours
Candlemass - Epicus
Cynic - Focus
Death - Scream Bloody Gore (only Death I care for)
Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream
King Diamond - Abigail
Les Discrets - Septembre et Ses Dernières Pensées
Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Ulver - Bergtatt
Abigail is the second album 😉 fatal portrait is the debut haha
@@RustyDarlingtonin that case I remove it from the list. Always thought it was the debut.
Dawn - Nær Sólen Gar Niper For Evogher
of course for "Scream Bloody Gore" "Beyond the only grave" and Zombie ritual" !!!!!
Cryptopsy - "Blasphemy Made Flesh" listen "Abigor" and "Open face surgery"
W.A.S.P. and their ""WASP"" debut album .
I agree with you 100% on scream bloody balls that 80s sound is unmatchable
SUFFOCATION- Human Waste
scream bloody gore is the worst death album
Agreed. It's like a 7 or 8 and human, individual, perseverance etc are 9-10s.
Check out doom metal band YOB 😉
mortician and last days of humanity .
Too many to list. I usually find a band's best album is their first more often than not.
To change the picks of people in the comments and only with A
After Forever
Alcest
Amorphis
At the Gates
Autopsy
Avantasia
Avatarium
Ahab? Havent heard
Dark Funeral? Agree
Death? Nah, Spiritual Healing is their best for me
Mayhem? Ordo Ad Chao for me
Candlemass? Hmm,maybe...
Helloween? No clue
Suffocation? No clue
Rotting Christ? Prefer Non Serviam with the debut coming second
And to add one of mine, the Saviour Machine debut is INSANE and easily their best
bands where the 1st album is best
Morbid Angel
Dismember
Ahab
Skepticism
Peste Noire
Ghost
Dio
Danzig
Down
Exodus
Autopsy
Dream evils debut is their only great one
Korn ?????
Deftones "adrenaline", after it's boring...
For the opposite, seven churches is ass in my opinion. Scum is uneven and far from the best ND record, soulside journey isn't in the bands top ten, and scream bloody gore is the worst death record. It's good, just not as good as the rest. You could make the case that it beats spiritual healing I guess. I'm also not 100% on the first bolt thrower, it's not their weakest but they have better.
Ugh no you didn't! The I like black metal but don't know much about it comment!!!
Lets see, just for starters we have Arcturus, Ulver, Sigh, Dodheimsgard, Beherit, Von, Fleurety, In the Woods, Enslaved, and oh yeah a large part of Emperor related projects inlcluding the split with Thorns, and while arguably not Black metal classics in the genre with Ved Buende Ende/Virus.
That is ten of probably the first ten bigger names in the genre that were far from "generic". Have many of the 40,000 bands sounded the same since those OG's? Of course, read that number again to expect even half of those to be all that different from one another is absurd. But since the beginning and until recent history there have been Black metal band after band walking there own path. Try again buddy.
Down "Nola"
Bfmv the poison although the two after that is pretty soild the fourth one i can see why it gets hate but for me it was ok
The poison is definitely their best
I thought the debut album always was the best album. hehe. I struggle to think of a band that got better with each release. Maybe a few of those bands that started in the 70s and they found their sound on the second album but like a band getting better by each release. I don't know any. :D
Saxon and priest debuts weren’t the best but ones following it were great
@@Questformetal yeah, some bands debuted too early.
Ghost is not metal. Glad I could clear that up.
Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Creed - My Own Prison
Fall Out Boy - Take This to Your Grave
Paramore - All We Know is Falling
Rhapsody (of Fire) - Legendary Tales
Linkin' Park - Hybrid Theory
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
Easy picks for me
