Agreed, not to mention most of the stores there are Asian owned and they will tell you anything to sell you their products including lying about the products in their broken English. At least in Toronto the prices are set when you enter a store and you aren't haggling for everything. I found that very annoying. Vancouver is pretty if you aren't in the city. I loved the Skytrain though. Fully automated so you aren't dealing with idiot staff that seem to think of themselves as Lords to the Pedestrians. I am surprised TTC staff are so surprised that their staff are victimized when I see and also have been on the other end of their rude responses when dealing with people. It is these staff members that set the rest of the staff up for punishment and abuse or worse.

The downtown core of Toronto was good until up about 2010. It was kinda of boring but heck rents/property was cheap. So was groceries, eating out and grabbing some drinks on a night out. Very little crime. People were not looking for a fight. Not like today where there are nutjobs waiting to stab you on the ttc. Toronto is now starting a decade of decline. The crime is going to keep on going up., homelessness, there is going to be a drug epidemic in the city. We will be waiting for the completion of public transit projects which will never be completed. People are going to start fleeing the city for the suburbs.

It's unfortunate really, Toronto has the potential to be great. But a lack of overall competency in leadership and policing don't do much to stop crime. I just feel like Canadians are too nice.
The quickest steps are to stop letting criminals back on the streets, and control the country's immigration severely, which is a bit hypocritical, but first come first serve.
