    I normally use Microsoft One Note, but in this particular video I used Microsoft Journal.

    How about this: ((8/x)+(3/y))/(3x+8y)? I am able to solve it, but I have no idea if it had excluded value(s) or how to find it/them. I know I canceled out 3x+8y, but I'm not sure if that counts as an excluded value. And for my final answer I got 1/xy, so would xy be an excluded value because it is a denominator? Also, would x or y have these excluded values, or just x (or just y) has excluded values? THIS IS SO CONFUSING.

      1/xy is the correct simplification. So you have that part down. For the excluded values, remember we cannot divide by zero. x, y, z, q or whatever variable you have is just a place holder. It represents some unknown. In the case of something simple such as:
      1/(x + 3), what can x not be equal to? x cannot be -3, since replacing x with -3 leads to a denominator of 0. So in your original denominator 3x + 8y, x and y cannot be any value that would lead to a denominator of zero. So anything that satisfies 3x + 8y = 0 would be excluded. Since this is a linear equation in two variables, there are an unlimited number of ordered pairs that would satisfy that equation. If we had (-8,3), we would get a denominator of zero as an example. So long story short. You can find your restricted values by setting the denominator equal to zero and solving. The solutions to that equation are the restricted values, since they would result in a denominator of zero.

    what if the problem is like this: (Change the sign, write 3 rational expression of)
    3x-5y / y ? -x/y-4x ? and -x-6x/-4 ? how to solve these? please help :)

      Anytime you have a fraction, you use the following rules: -a/b = a/-b = -(a/b)

    You make it so easy. My professor says so much, making the whole problem complicated.

      I answered above, but I guess it didn't link to your comment. Anyway I used Microsoft Journal / Microsoft One Note for all videos.

    how to solve X+2/x to the power of 2+6X+8?

    • @Greenemath
      @Greenemath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the whole thing raised to that power?
      (x + 2 / x)^(2 + 6x + 8)
      Or is it something else? Also you have capital X and lowercase x which is technically two different variables. Not sure if that is a typo. Let me know and I can try and help out.
