    You're best off leaving trickle chargers/battery conditioners plugged in permanently. Try some AC50 instead of WD40. Excellent episode. I have a brand new Triumph and the battery was dead within days (they're awful) - I bought an Optimate which has done the trick, until I get a Lithium battery to swap out.

    • @FreddieDobbs
      @FreddieDobbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very interesting- a good chunk of people have said the same; that they as routine plug in their bikes every night, and also that many modern bike batteries die incredibly quickly.
      Thank you!🙂

    • @KeithChegwin24
      @KeithChegwin24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FreddieDobbs I think you're right, plug it in overnight or whenever you're not riding it and the trick is to get a battery conditioner rather than a charger. They cycle the battery and monitor it rather than charging it to full. That's what I've gathered anyway, I'm no expert, though.
      Yes, the batteries are dreadful.

      I watched this video thinking exactly the same "someone needs to introduce Freddie to ACF 50" It will do a much better job of cleaning the bike, you don't even need the jet wash. It'll get all the grime off and will polish the bike as well as leaving a water repellent film on there too. Originally designed for the aerospace industry and much loved by motorcycle owners. Love the videos !

    Freddie, just remember that WD40 is a solvent, so even thou it makes the bike look good it does after time damaged paint work, can damages cabling and loosen connections, removes lubricants from chains and seal etc….

    The best bet is to leave the charger on and connected to the bike until you use it...that is if you have a place where you can keep it plugged in. My Thruxton and now my T120 are always connected to the charger until I'm ready to ride which helps prolong battery life. Interesting use of WD40!

    Great video Freddie, please get that light sorted😁 there are some really nice modern lucas lookalike units that fut all modern Triumph's, simple plug and play and use the same mountings, also deffinately think about bar end mirrors Freddie, I've put thruxton ones on mine and they transform the ride, so much visibility and no more looking at your elbow, simple to fit, work great and make the bike look super cool, keep up the brilliant videos, it looks like heaven there.😊👍

      Yeah Nick is spot on , thruxton mirrors are amazing! Another fantastic video guy's . I'm envious of your amazing adventures , only getting to ride at the weekend's. On a serious not though! Jet washers do wash away vital grease from concealed bearings ! And the WD40 does thin out existing grease ! But I'm sure doing your method is better than nothing at all. Very difficult to have all the correct cleaning gear when traveling around . Looking forward to your next film. Cheers 🍻

    I wouldn't use WD40 to clean a chain as the lubricant in it can break down the grease in the rollers and shorten the life of your chain.
    Every chain driven motorcycle i have had, i use the Tutoro Oiler made in the UK. Doesnt need a vacuum which can cause problems with the bike. I had the good fortune to meet Nick, a sound chap. An oiler is muxh better for the chain than lubing

    Top tip ,never use a jet wash on a motorcycle,it blast all the grease out the bearing puts water in place that doesn't dry out quickly, and can ruine electrics, /bulbs , take it from an old biker, hose yes waterless wash yes, gunk yes,and use petroleum jelly on terminals ,stops acid corrosion

    Personally I can't understand why you spray your bike with DW40 while you're in Tenerife, the dust, sand and powdered dog poo will stick to it. The only thing I use WD40 for on my bike is to clean off the oil flung from the chain onto the rear wheel rim and occasionally the front sprocket area, yes oil as it's a classic and won't take an 'O' ring chain.

    The same rules may apply to Tenerife which would explain how busy the car wash is on a Tuesday.

    I wonder if Tenerife is a good place to retire in. How's the cost of living? Seems like the perfect place for a relaxed motorcyclist.

    • @richardbartlett6932
      @richardbartlett6932 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gerald. as someone who even at an early age would never retire in UK I scouted southern Europe for years eventually settled on the canaries.
      the opportunity to buy a business here prompted me to jump early.
      as a worker it's not great but as a retiree it's as good as it gets.
      cost of living is impossible to quantify because everyone lives differently
      if you relocate you live a different life so you can't even compare your old life v your new life.
      as regards motorcycling. All the islands are extremely popular with bikers. roads, weather and (outside town) low traffic means it's a perfect bikers paradise
